I said that it was theistic in nature. It draws directly from the ten commandments and relates to the privilege of making oath.

Only in part, and common law existed before the advent of Christianity, during Pagan times.

It’s essentially theistic because of the role of making oath to show truth. English common law did not exist before the advent of Christianity.

Like most Western legal systems, it’s a mix of Christian, pre-Christian Rome, and pre-Christian paganism.

None of those are the source of the ten commandments, of which a Saxon version exists at the start of the legal code of King Alfred the Great, i.e. his interpretation of the principles of the common law.

I am not “saying” ugly I am telling you the actual fact: the Queen of New Zealand is not the same legal entity as the Queen of England .

The New Zealand monarchy has its roots in the British crown, from which it has evolved to become a distinctly New Zealand institution, represented by unique symbols. New Zealand’s monarch—since 6 February 1952, Queen Elizabeth II—is today shared equally with fifteen other countries within the Commonwealth of Nations, all being independent and the monarchy of each legally distinct.

What did “early” mean?

Hi SGA – ‘early’ meant approx 4:45am. Running topless. Which you wouldn’t do in winter – but height of summer – might as well even at coldest time of day. They actually turned on the red and blue lights. Really ? That’s like – pulling you over – am I what, driving myself along the footpath ?

I’m just going to say it – that’s police state shit. What are you doing ? I’m fucking running – what does it look like you fucking dick ? Are you are total retard ? I’m out on a run. What does it look like ? Put the lights on to ask me ‘am I on my morning run ?’ What the fuck else could a person be fucking doing ? Yeah – if that was any other time of day – but no – there’s a curfew apparently. You’re not allowed to go about your lawful business outside unspecified hours – try it and the cops are all over you like white on rice. Is that just me ? I’m running along the street – that’s perfectly legal and law-abiding is it not – and cops are putting on the lights to stop me and question me. Aren’t you allowed to run whenever you want to without a casual interrogation ?

I actually started the run at around 3:55am – probably before those dicks had even started their shift to go round having people on. It wasn’t the start of my ‘waking day’ more like the other end – but a lot of cops are just so thick it’s not funny – that possibility would likely never cross their little minds – you can just see these gawps minds whirling around the little hampster wheels ‘look at this dude – out running no top at this hour of day – must be mental’. I chatted to these idiots as I was running and my perception of this female officer was that as cops go she sounded as dumb as they get. If I’d run between 12-4am – those noddies wouldn’t even be cruising around empty dead suburbs and I’d be left alone.

You might be surprised how many people run in the very early hours of a morning – and unlike me – they really are just extreme early risers who go out first thing and do it. Something I very very rarely ever do with a run. The last I want to do is wake up and do it first thing. Kind of like jumping in a cold swimming pool. No thanks. That’s the problem with the cops now – all the recruits are picked based on things like gender and nationality quotas, not fit for purpose braincell intensity. Thick as pigshit ? Not a problem – we need more women so you’re in. Welcome aboard numb flaps. Never mind that you might not last five minutes when it all gets too hard for unsuitable politically chosen numpty naif newbies.

So, you were going for a run between 4am-5am, some cops turned on their lights to identify themselves, and you “chatted to these idiots as I was running”. I’m not sure that really counts as “police state shit”.

Years ago, I used to go for walks at odd hours if I couldn’t sleep (especially if I was a bit agitated about something). Every now and then, a cop car would pull over and ask a few questions. I never felt that a few gentle inquiries were a big deal. Once they were even gently insistent that they gave me a ride home and I agreed, and they stayed until I’d gone inside. There had been a lot of chatter over their radio while I was in the car, and the next day I found out there had been a rape in a nearby park.

And ease up on them mate- Most of them are not bad fellas, and they deal with the absolute shit of society
*There may have even been a Rape or Burglary nearby- Hence them asking you what you were up to

SGA – I think it’s fairly obvious what I was doing. Recreational running. They didn’t need to stop a runner to ask them if they’re out on a run. Can you see how dumb that is ?

And they don’t need to identify a non-mufti patrol car. It’s a police car. I don’t think they need to put the lights on just to talk to people on the street. The lights are for traffic or if something is actually going on. You don’t put them on when someone is doing nothing wrong. To identify themselves. That’s reaching mate. At best that’s borderline – I’d say closer to pathetic. Well lit main street – yeah – you can see it’s them.

Longknives – there may have a truck load of escaped chimpanzees running loose. It’s theoretically possible. There may have been a lot of things going on. I doubt it, low percentage. More likely they’ve got nothing better to do – so they’ll just check anyone that’s around at that hour. That’s my theory. That’s a police state. G’day mate – what are you up to ? Why ? Because it’s outside socially acceptable hours to be doing anything in public legal or not. That’s why. We’re just checking everyone. Why not. We’re here – nothing to do – might as well.

It’s the way that they talk to you. ‘Are you just on your morning run’ ? Accusatory tone – yes I am if that’s ok with you – you can see that’s the case. What – do I really look like I’m running away from the scene of a crime ? I got dressed up in my run gear – loaded up my mp3 player with music – ‘nah mate – I’m running 20km and looking for potential rape victims too. Seeing as you were nice enough to ask what I’m to I thought it only polite to tell the honest truth. Pfffff – dickheads.

I turned the question back on them ‘why, what are you up to ?’. ‘Patrolling’. I did that to make a point that it was a really fucking stupid question. ‘Good to see’ I snarkily replied. And no – I didn’t stop for them. I slowed down initially but didn’t stop – and then I went back up to speed until they drove off. They didn’t have the nerve to order me to stop my run. Idiots.

If they were really that in tune – they’d know that there are people who walk / run that early in the morning anyway. I see them and I think shit that’s too early to be up but there they are the crazy sobs.

Come on – let’s face it. They only stop people for a reason. Because they’re suspicious. Something is wrong with this picture – let’s investigate further. So in effect they’re saying that I’m a ‘something is wrong or could be wrong with this picture’ looking person, at a ‘something could be wrong with this picture’ time of day. They’re saying something is off here. Looks dodgy. We’ve got a live one. I’m saying it doesn’t seem to take much to attract their attention. Or anything other than the time of day.

What it comes down to is no-one wants to fit the police profile of someone that they feel they need to ‘have a chat with’ to make sure ‘that eveything is ok’. Despite the time of day – it was obvious beyond any shadow of a doubt the difference between the metronomic well-honed running style of an actual runner and some dipshit lowlife sprinting like a retard away from trouble. It just simply beggars belief. It would be like if I said to them ‘hey, I still don’t believe that you’re real cops – the car and lights and uniforms aren’t enough – let’s see some ID and I’m going to need to check 100% by going to the station’ – far out.

‘Are you out on your morning run’ ? Could be – are there any other correct answers for why someone is running along a footpath ? Yes I am. Well, that’s ok then – we’ll let you off this time. Oh thanks a lot your highness. We just thought we’d check. You know – you can never be too careful, can you ? Apparently not. Appearances can be deceiving.

What if I’d said no – I’m not on my morning run ? What are you doing then ? I don’t know – you tell me – running along a street ? No – I was walking for no reason at all and then voices in my head said why not try a bit of a gallop ? Could be quite invigorating. Dealing with idiots – give them a bloody inch and they take a country mile. A smarter cop would’ve just thought ‘oh look – a runner – ok’. And kept going. Either that of they just stop everyone ‘for a chat’. Really ? Police state after hours, is it ?
