I note the press are reporting that a “drunken brawl” broke out at Sarah Palin house recently. To compound matters, it appears that Sarah Palin has uttered those magic words that no “celebrity” should ever allow to pass their lips. It is reported that when the Police arrived Palin said….

“Don’t you know who I am?”

Hopefully that will be the final nail in Palins political coffin, she really would be better advised to stand on her deck and keep a good eye on Russia, after all, she can see Russia from her house.

I wonder who is giving money to Hager to help him defend himself if he goes to trial. Is the hacker of the Emails a large donor? The other large donors could be a German, a certain political party members and National Party detesters. It is obvious that if Hager finishes up in court he may well have to disclose who supplied him the stolen Emails. After all said and done this is in the public interest.

Me too. I don’t get why people use them. I think there must be web-designers out there who have never used tabs.

My pet peeve is having to change the streaming quality to 480 all the time in youtube videos. I recently discovered an extension for Chrome though that lets you set it once and will always stream at that bit rate (ranges from 144 to 2160). It’s called ‘Your Quality’ and has a dropdown quality which all other youtube videos on the site will be viewed at.

I have decided 4 beers is the correct number of after work beers to have before getting on a train for an hour’s trip home.

3 beers don’t take you out of the here and now far enough, you just feel dirty the whole way home.

2 beers leaves you thirsty and wishing you’d stayed for another.

While 5 beers followed by an hour’s quiet contemplation is just a bridge too far…!

Somebody who “loses” their house is indeed worthy of sympathy. Normally those poor bastards are the victims of ill health or a severe and sudden downturn in the economy.

In Penny’s case it is different. She knew full well what the outcome might be, I suspect she actually wants to be kicked out so she can keep deluding herself that she matters. She has also been bludging off every other rate payer for the past six years.

So, do I have any sympathy for her?….none at all, she is the victim of her own stupidity.

JB it’s one thing to not be able to pay it’s a totally different kettle of fish when you choose not to pay. What pisses me off is that the council waited so bloody long to act, in much the same the courts let little punks rack up thousands of dollars in unpaid fines before writing them off at letting them do community service instead, at least Penny has/had an asset that can be sold to recoup costs.

Len does not want Penny to pay her Rates, he wants to make her pay all of the penalties, and the longer it goes on, the more money for Len. This is sad for people who fall behind in payments, but Penny did this to help Len.
She wants to be a contributer to Lens train set, but wants the public to think she has been done over by the Council.

A woman goes into discount fishing supplies to buy a rod and reel for her grandson’s birthday. She doesn’t know which one to get, so she just picks one and goes over to the counter. The salesman is standing there, wearing dark shades.

She says “Excuse me. Can you tell me anything about this rod and reel?” He says “Madam, I’m completely blind; but if you’ll drop it on the counter, I can tell you everything you need to know about it from the sound it makes”.

She doesn’t believe him but drops it on the counter anyway. He says “That’s a six-foot Shakespeare graphite rod with a Zebco 404 reel and 10-lb test line. It’s a good all-around combination, and it’s actually on sale this week for $44”.

She says “That’s amazing that you can tell all that, just by the sound of it dropping on the counter. I’ll take it!”

As she opens her purse, her credit card drops on the floor. “Oh, that sounds like a Visa card” he says.

As the lady bends down to pick up the card, she accidentally farts. At first she’s really embarrassed, but then realises there is no way the blind salesman would tell exactly who had farted.

The man rings up the sale and says “That’ll be $58.50 please”. The woman is totally confused by this and asks “Didn’t you tell me it was on sale for $44. How did you get $58.50?”

“The duck caller is $11 and the fish bait is $3.50”.

Penny has always had a choice
Refusal to pay rates is not the only way to approach what she sees as a problem.
In fact paying rates would give her more leverage.
And she apparently still has a choice.

Auckland Council chief executive Stephen Town –
“I personally tried to contact Ms Bright yesterday in a last ditch effort to secure a resolution to this situation. Instead, she has resorted to further legal action which is both disappointing and frustrating …
“Ms Bright has not taken up any of our offers to work with her on a suitable repayment plan.
“It’s the council’s responsibility to ensure fairness and equity for all Aucklanders and rates are the lifeblood of the effective running of the city. While I respect Ms Bright’s right to a point of view, her extreme perspective should not be at the expense of everyone else,” Town said.

Oh puhleeease. I have read plenty of conspiracy sites. Next to the articles on how evil the West is and how glorious it’s enemies are, are articles about the earth being hollow and aliens taking over the government.

Swallowing that crap does not require intelligence or education, just a willingness to be gullible.

How interesting… it bothers you that both my parents have a very different experience of Russia than the one you are trying to sell. That would inconvenient, having survivors around to stick their head up and say, we recognise this method of warfare. Not directly of course, since my Dad has now passed away, but through me his witness still lives.

I really hoped that wasn’t the case, Shawn.

But it has to be more than that. Everyone has an anchor that they tie themselves to. What is Reid’s anchor, that’s what I want to know. Surely not those formative university years?

Back when I was in my early twenties, I read conspiracy magazines. Eventually, I decided that they just picked up anything that was out there, and just ran with it, so I decided to stop reading them. No anchor, basically, just whatever was not believed by the mainstream. That just seemed dangerous to me. You can’t make a truthful reality based on what most people don’t believe.

Andrei,

Putin revealed himself when he said that the demise of the Soviet Union was one of the great geopolitical disasters of the 20th century.

I think Putin is obsessed with reclaimg what he thinks was lost in that, rather than focusing on what his people and country really need. And in doing so he is leading Russia into a war it cannot win.

If Putin is so concerned with saving Russia, why has he not banned abortion, given Russia’s dire demographic problems?
