David Shearer was the victim of Dirty Politics.

He was a Labour leader who took a party polling in high 20s, led for 2 years where Labour consistently attracted low – mid 30s. With the Greens support a Labour led coalition looked possible and it wouldn’t even have needed Winston. All it needed was Labour to have a little bit of cohesion.

However David Shearer fell victim of a smear campaign by several bloggers lead by Cameron Slater.

David Shearer is now damaged goods. Destroyed by Dirty Politics. Cameron Slater and the other bloggers that carried the smears have succeeded. Labour is unelectable.

Not Labour’s fault. Check. Policies are fine, but woefully unrecognised. Check. Got it. Labour is not responsible for anything, ever, a scapegoat is what is needed. Dirty Politics? Sure, that shit is legit, sourced and researched impecably. Hasn’t been milked too much before the election. I think you’re good 🙄

I honestly don’t think they can do it stigie. The factionalism runs deep & the only way forward would be to get rid of those who will not move with the times. Their chance to rejuvenate was passed up six years ago & they could have made a fair dent in the deadwood in 2011.

Politics is largely a succession game…..a mix of new & experienced is vital. Instead Labour have a bunch of lacklustre hacks warming the seats until death or a parliamentary pension.

They’re stuffed!

… and pushed unpalatable policies like CGT, which were said to be 4 years old, but were so complex that Cunliffe couldn’t answer questions on it when it turned out Key knew it better. And there were still outstanding parts that ‘would be sorted out after the election’…

My prediction is that David Cunliffe has tabled his resignation at todays caucus but with a proviso, he would argue that the loss was not entirely down to him, he will be looking to Labours tired front bench and ask them to cop some blame to. If indeed he did that then he would be entirely correct, a shared blame amongst the senior Labour team, or at least the Cunliffe faction is appropriate.
Today would be a day of bloodletting, a vigorous garrotting of the Labour front benches and there will be an equally vigorous fight back from the accused. Cunliffe will demand others follow him on the walk of shame and of course they won’t.

The greens and labor must work together… there is no chance that either will manage alone to get any where like the majority national has at present
As they can not work individually to create a valid platform working together constructively to create a platform voters will endorse is imposable. we are looking at national for the next two terms

TV3, Campbell Live promo: Hone Hawawira “It became obvious that a whole lot of parties were turning against poor little old me” (not quite correct as written from memory)

I really can’t see this being a good move for him. I’m expecting him to come across as the loser putting across his opinion that he shouldn’t have to compete for his seat, and other people making him work for it, are cheating him of what he deserves.

The David Shearer faction would of gone into today’s caucus looking for payback, both Cunliffe and Parkers resignation. However Shearer has had his day and wouldn’t be in the mix. Cunliffe in his pre caucus media briefing conceded that he wants to put an end to the infighting and was not convincing in denying that he had forced a leader selection process. If Labour was smart they would pick a completely new team with the long game in mind, a long game that can build capacity and experience for the new team.

Watching Campbell Live, they have this mine nonsense drama filling the gap before Hawawira comes on.

Weren’t these people paid out in lieu of going in? Why can’t they go in themselves, and fund it, if they really care. Their families chose to work in the mine, and weren’t pressed into service.

But instead we get Campbell droning on about how the kids (who’ve been brought out on show as levers to use in this drama) need a grave to visit. I don’t think I’m heartless suggesting they visit the mine instead.

Yes, the far right exists in Ukraine, but it is a minority – probably smaller than what we have here in NZ. It’s much, much, much stronger in Russia. Especially since Putin is directly encouraging many far right groups in Europe and recently held a conference for them in Yalta.

2. The Crimea was made administratively party of the Ukraine by a Ukrainian communist president of the USSR. It made no difference as it was all the USSR anyway.

3. After the USSR collapsed, Russia had part of its territory in another country, including a massive Naval Base !

4. The people held a democratic referendum and voted to become a federation.

Neo Nazi supporters like you and Obama want to enforce the USSR land division. I have seen photos of the people you support giving the Nazi salute at rallies. I have seen the same guys at a podium with Obama’s top people.

TV3, Campbell Live: Hawawira finally on. A few of people giving opinion about Kim Dotcom being the reason. Or that time for a change. A few diehard Labour supporters. Mostly the same people just talking until TV3 gets enough to use.

Won’t say he regrets Kim Dotcom arrangement, wants to talk to Laila and Kim first. Feels comfortable about the work that was done. In the end became obvious parties were standing against poor little old him. Campbell suggests they were standing against Dotcom. Hawawira gives standard response “sure sure sure” Campbell suggests he looked heartbroken on the night. Hawawira says he didn’t feel it, something about watching movies. 60 years old next year.

Bit of a pointless interview really.

Sort of but the Te Tai Tokerau seat was pivotal. It gave the Mana leader a platform & finances he otherwise wouldn’t have had.
The Mana Party will always have some backing as they appeal to the gimmes rather than the workers but three years in the wilderness in a large spread out electorate means that Hone will struggle to stay relevant.

Even with the assistance the MSM will give him his return is a poor bet.

It was interesting that the small feral communitys were supporting hone the hopeless as the results arrived. Up 400 at one stage early on When the bigger urban booths started he tanked badly to eventually lose by 1300.

This says to me Hatfeild still has a supporting faction among the ferals but those who work and live in the wider community have had enough of his manalessness.

If Davis can work and be seen to be effective in the wider community Hone will never garner enough votes to return,

Her version contradicts that supplied by both Holocaust survivors and perpetrators. It contradicts the version of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre. That makes her a Holocaust Denier. Te Tai Tokerau is a huge electorate encompassing all of rural Northland, and by default, the rural areas were Hone Harawira’s. However the large community of Nga Puhi residing in West Auckland, the urban Maori, voted Labour. The country is indebted to this group of urban Maori for delivering the surprise of the election i.e. the defeat of Hone Harawira and ultimately the defeat of the far left. Of the 2 million plus votes cast, the impact of less than 10,000 votes produced the greatest effect in the general election.

Don’t know about that reid look at the history of maori voting over the last few elections
NZfirst Maori and hone have all had significant support bases then fallen flat never to regain the mana they once possessed.
They have now returned to labour in disgust.
The Maori seats only polled around 19,000 in each electorate compared to 30,000 on the normal roll.
Maori would be better served by going mainstream and doing away with the race based seats as Maori are highly represented in mps from the main party’s.

I even showed the outrage of holocaust survivor groups when her church recently honoured and held masses all over Croatia for the leader of the holocaust. The survivor groups compared it to holding memorial masses for Hitler… another Catholic.

Sublime, yeah great. Here is what the Haaretz article says. Just for shits and giggles, reverse the sides and pretend Syria shot down an Israeli plane under the same circumstances !

The jet was toppled over the Syrian side of the Quneitra border, after it had flown 800 meters west of the border into Israel and turned around.

The decision to down the jet was made after 1:20 minutes of flight; when the Patriot hit the plane, the Syrian pilots had already turned around and flown back into their territory.

It’s a bit tough to label 320million people as one Kea but I agree that they’re a nation in trouble.

IMHO 90%+ of the mess started when the USA outsourced manufacturing…..from that point on hopelessness ate into the fabric of their society.
