I’m wondering why Labour are now backing down on some of their announced spending and have basically said there will be no more spending promises.

Maybe their internal polling is telling them the voters think it is all BS and unachievable. I hope that is the right conclusion.

If that is the case then they have left the remaining weeks open to National –by effectively starting late , National have the advantage of capitalising on the average voter’s short attention span, which has been ingrained into most of us in the last 20 odd years. Well it sounds good in theory , anyway !!

I’ve been having a laugh to myself about Goff calling Key dishonest after proof that Goff lied was released under an OIA request. It’s pot – kettle stuff in my opinion.

Even later in the day the gallery report rumours that Goff passed on the complaint – information that again logically could only have come from Goff’s office

I rate Goff as one of the dirtiest politicians in NZ’s history. Well, at least in parliament currently.

Labour’s big bribe for free doctors visits for over 65s .Has now been cancelled.,even if they win the election.In fact most of the bribes have been cancelled,seems they are waving the white surrender flag for the 2014 election,They are now saying bribes will be reactivated in 2017.

One of the things I like about Kiwiblog is its (mostly) light tone. Not much use getting one’s nose out of joint about something said in comments on a blog. It is funny when some people get wound up though.

Out of curiosity I Googled his name; most of the results were for Kiwiblog, but on the last page (number three) there was a brief description which appears to be “Must Read blogs”, listing Kiwiblog. The website is sargarmi.aliexirs.ir

It is going to be very interesting when the Emails from Armstrong to Cunliffe and the criminal kraut are released. Along with Hager, Campbell, and their mentor McCarten, there is sedition of a great magnitude that will need addressing. APN Herald were a blight on the media horizon, but now they have stooped lower than Hager.

graham, I think that search result is actually unrelated to Padriv Ustoev. It seems to be a spam result where the website takes a search term and somehow incorporate it into their website metadata to appear in the search results.

The fat kraut reckons he is going to take action against Cam Slater. How can a unwanted alien have the right to question a taxpaying honest citizen of a host nation? Apart from a few leeching losers, to the majority he is unwelcome, an embarrassment, and it is time he was extradited.

Got it! It is now so obvious, clearly the theft of Cameron Slater’s emails and subsequent book printing using Nicky Hager was really a smear against .com and the Mana/Internet party using circumstantial evidence, geez those right wingers are sneaky eh!!! lol. 🙂

I get that these are interesting and colorful cases, but the fierceness with which the various sides assert that they know what really happened is a little bizarre. It seems to me that nobody apart from the people actually involved really know.

I note that the self styled “worlds greatest sporting team” has embarrassed itself again by begging somebody called Williams to come back to the code. It appears that they don’t even require this Williams chap to play a game of Rugby Union before being selected for the NZ National rugby team.

What happened to the game for All New Zealanders?

Great to see sbw will be on the end of year tour.

It takes time to learn the systems etc.

Stoked that the all blacks are such a professional organisation. Not some bunch of small town morons talking about how all blacks should work on farms and club rugby is the greatest thing ever.

Can’t wait to see us play the argies and boks. Big angry forward packs going head to head.

Petrol prices are all over the show, despite the recent falls in the price of oil to early 2011 levels.

The local Zed at Glen Innes sells 91 at 217.9 cents a liter, but on Saturday I filled up at the Caltex on SH1 some 20 km south of Whangarei and it was 195.9 cents a liter. That’s a 22 cents per liter difference.

Let’s say it take 6 hours for a 25,000 liter petrol tanker to drive to from Marsden Point to Auckland and back. Assuming there’s a 20-cent price differential, then that’s $5,000. The driver might make $25 an hour, and then there’s the road costs of the truck, but let’s say it costs $1,000 for the round trip, someone is still creaming $4,000.

Gas around east Auckland should be down to about $2.05 a liter.

In the country town of (Masterton, pop 20K) with a Gull station yet difficult road access you pay 5 to 7 cents less per litre than the price offered in Wellington or Palmerston North.

If you think that this Williams chap being selected for “the worlds greatest sporting side” is such a brilliant marketing plan then I assume that you would also be fully supportive of the NZRU if they really went the whole hog and picked Kim Dot Com as well in the touring side.

After all, he will bring in a few more marketing dollars, and, clearly the traditions of the game mean nothing to fans of the NZ team any longer.

Westpac chief economist Dominick Stephens said New Zealand’s recent growth had been fuelled by the Canterbury earthquake rebuild, low interest rates and a surge in net migration, which hit a 10-year high in the year to June.

”When the Canterbury rebuild ends people will be quite surprised by the size of the downturn,” he said.

Stephens said the strong net migration, which has been largely due to fewer New Zealanders moving to Australia and greater numbers returning from across the Tasman, is unlikely to continue at current levels for long.

”Australia will one day make a comeback. We are forecasting zero net migration for 2018. And one day interest rates will get big enough to crush the housing market,” he said.

”My fear is all three of those things will happen at the same time.”

ANZ senior economist Sharon Zollner said a soft landing for the New Zealand economy was unlikely to happen.

”People say the New Zealand economy has three gears: first, fifth and reverse. For us to engineer a soft landing and have that Goldilocks profile for a while is unusual,” she said.

”The New Zealand economy has had an excellent run and growth is moderating but that’s not a bad thing. We’re not an ‘Asian Tiger’ and we can’t sustain 4 per cent growth. We should be happy with 3 per cent or even 2.5 per cent.”

Zollner said New Zealand is at risk from a possible slow-down in China, where officials are loosening housing policies to stop a fall in property prices.

”The tightrope policy makers are trying to walk is a wet noodle,” she said.

Not too flash stigie…..anything up to 10cents over Masterton but then its a fairly low volume community owned enterprise selling g.a.s.

The Landcruiser has twin 90 litre tanks & I normally buy farm diesel in 20 litre containers so I just fill up any time I’m in Masterton.

I naturally assumes that a man of your undoubted intelligence would be able to work out that any player who has not set foot on a rugby field for two years would not be up to international standard. Therefore, it is clear that the selection of Williams will be made on purely marketing grounds. Either that, or the sponsors have demanded it.

It was not that long ago that the NZ team used to select the best players, those were the days when I used to support the team.

SBW is a more complete player than Nonu, Ma’a is mostly good but also runs around like a headless chook from time to time and his defence has been known to let him down at times. Hopefully SBW will be able to stick with rugby for the long haul this time.
