Kowtow, of course the solution could be for David Cameron to base British troops permanently therre.I doubt that is really feasible and given the fact that Britain has attempted historically failed to. subdue Afghanistan ( the first and second Afghan wars in the 19th century .)

Labour has quoted the Manaiakalani Trust as its inspiration for its policy with regard to providing kids with laptops and iPads. Does it worry them that Manaiakalani is effectively one of those public-private partnerships they complain so bitterly about, and that one of Manaiakalani’s commercial partners is SKYCITY Auckland Community Trust?

Seems as though not a lot of due diligence has been done here:

The answer to your question is no.

Prior to Morrison (why does he speak in that stupid manner?) the worst and most irritating I had ever heard was Billy Ibadulla. It is a testament to just how bad Danny Morrison is that he manages to surpass the truly awful Ibadulla.

As for who is the best?, well in my opinion the best there has ever been is Richie Benaud, closely followed by Ian Chappel, David Gower, Ian Smith and David Lloyd.

Irony of the day:

I’m particularly liking the “Positive” part of the campaign.

I intend to start pointing out how Nationals sockpuppets are never positive. Carping fools generally. Especially Cameron Slater and David Farrar. Can anyone remember a time when they have been different in the last 3 or 4 years? Always negative towards anything that wasn’t NAct.

What was so bad about Billy Ibadulla?

He had a strong sub-Continent accent made more unusual by all his years spent playing, coaching and umpiring in England. But unlike Henry Blofeld, Ibadulla actually knew the technicalities of the game and could impart them well in his commentary. After all, the man scored a century in his first test against Bobby Simpson’s Australians no less, and he played a major part in the development of Glenn Turner. And if you are eliminating people for bad accents, then Tony Grieg and Bill Lawry are out automatically (and they were both poor in terms of there content anyway)!

Speaking of which, it must be me, but I always liked Glenn Turner and Geoffrey Boycott – when he wasn’t playing up to the “Four Yorkshireman” stereotype. Plenty of good technical info that added insight into what was happening on the field and why.

He was torture!, the man had no flow as a commentator, was stuck with one or two phrases that he used over and over again “and there is the man Hadlee” sticks in my mind, we used to hear that repeated every time Hadlee took a wicket.
I don’t care how good he was as a player, that is not the issue. The issue is that he was an appalling commentator.

As for the late Tony Grieg and Bill Lawry, those two were/are outstanding humour. A joy to listen to and sadly missed.

Hmm. We definitely have different tastes. If you like your humour as telegraphed as the pie in the face gag, then yeah,…maybe.

And if you didn’t like Ibadulla’s repetition of phrases, where does Lawry’s trademark “Gottem!” figure?! Lawry, IMHO is a poor commentator, hopelessly biased, who never did any research on players outside of Victoria, much less non-Australians. Part of the reason Australians are so arrogant about their national sport. A bit like Murray Mexted with NZ rugby.

But ya pays yer money and ya takes yer pick…

That was a good article. It certainly showed that there is diversity in the movement, and the mainstream of the TP is actually pretty moderate, not as far from National as Red would like to believe, but then Red’s definition of Conservatism or Rightism is so ridiculously narrow that almost nobody would pass muster with him. In fact, based on that article, he should be slamming the Tea Party as traitors and closet socialists!

Anyway, worth reading. A very balanced and fair article.

Bill Lawry could never be as one eyed and biased as Tony Johnston when it comes to sporting commentary. Johnston makes me cringe every time he is involved in covering a game featuring the NZ national team.

Lawry and Grieg were a team, they bounced off each other and livened up many a dull game.

As for Aussie’s being arrogant about their national sport, well that might be the case but there is nothing on the face of this earth more arrogant than a Kiwi about their national sport or team. The Ockers might lack any grace when it comes to cricket but we sure as hell surpass them in arrogance, lack of respect for the opposition, and, for being myopic.

Oh…and you bloody leave Mex alone, he remains unsurpassed as a comments man.

at Sea..

Mick and Paddy had promised their Uncle Seamus, who had been a seafaring gent all his life, to bury him at sea when he died.

Of course, in due time, he did pass away and the boys kept their promise.

They set off with Uncle Seamus all stitched up in a burial bag and loaded onto their rowboat..

After a while Mick says, ‘Do yer tink dis is fer enuff out, Paddy?’

Without a word Paddy slips over the side only to find himself standing in water up to his knees.

‘Dis’ll never do, Mick. Let’s row some more.’

After a bit more rowing Paddy slips over the side again but the water is only up to his belly, so they row on.

Again Mick asks Paddy, ‘Do yer tink dis is fer enuff out Paddy?’

Once again Paddy slips over the side and almost immediately says, ‘No dis’ll neva do.’ The water was only up to his chest.

So on they row and row and row and finally Paddy slips over the side and disappears.

Quite a bit of time goes by and poor Mick is really getting himself into a state when suddenly Paddy breaks the surface gasping for breath.

‘Well is it deep enuff yet, Paddy?’

France’s national rail operator SNCF, which runs the
prestigious TGV fast trains, that are a source of pride
for the French, spent 15 billion euros ($20.5 billion)
on regional trains, that are too wide for 1,300 stations,
meaning platforms will have to be “shaved” to avoid
getting stuck.

Confirming the reports of the mistake, the French train
company admitted that the wider trains, built to
“meet the public’s expectations requires the modernisation
of 1,300 platforms out of a total of 8,700 in the French
railways.”

Actually, the public didn’t expect wider trains,
just faster ones.

The error seems to have happened because the national
rail operator RFF gave the wrong dimensions to train
company SNCF. They measured the width of a new railroad
station, and ignored the fact that about 1300 older stations
are narrower. Also, in some cases the rails are too close,
and trains won’t be able to pass.

A small redneck Wild Animal Park had acquired a very rare species of gorilla. Within a few weeks, the female gorilla became very “in the mood”, and difficult to handle.

Upon examination, the park veterinarian determined the problem. The gorilla was in heat.
To make matters worse, there were no male gorillas of the species available.

While reflecting on their problem, the park administrators noticed Redbaiter, a part-time redneck intern, responsible for cleaning the animals’ cages.

Redbaiter, like most rednecks, had little sense, but possessed ample ability to satisfy a female of ANY species.

So, the park administrators thought they might have a solution.

Red was approached with a proposition. Would he be willing to have sex with the gorilla for $500?

Red showed some interest, but said he would have to think the matter over carefully.

The following day, red announced that he would accept their offer, but only under three conditions.

“First,” he said, “I don’t want to have to kiss her.

Secondly, you must never tell anyone about this.”

The park administration quickly agreed to these conditions, so they asked what was his third condition.

The thing I remember about that wanker is that he is close to retirement age anyway, the reality is that the parasite will never work.
It does make me laugh that he is still hiding behind his son though, the young man is now at Uni yet phool still thinks he needs his hand held in the morning.

At least I take solace from the fact that the campaign waged against him here and the fact that we exposed the bastard as earning money under the table caused him quite a bit of grief with WINZ. (or so I am led to believe 🙂 )

Ron Paul had it right – On the 4th July in the USA, what should be a celebration of the courage of those who risked so much to oppose tyranny is now a celebration of government, not liberty. The mainstream media and opportunistic politicians have turned Independence Day into the opposite of what was intended:

I don’t think I have ever met a Vegan who looked healthy. They all seem to have that pasty, too pale look, with acne. I suspect that Phool looks a lot worse, given his sedentary lifestyle.

Bullshit to Penny not having money for her rates.

She has Money to go all around the country to Womans refuge meetings.
Protesting all over the place,that costs money for food,motels,clothing.
Has money to register to stand as an MP in the up and coming election.
She has money for phones and internet connections.

But the Dishonest NUTBAR has no money fr her Rates?

I take exception to you saying his foreign policy is insane. Policing the world has been an utter failure for the US of A, despite what Stephie says, the US is now broke, they have poured gasoline on the centuries old Islam vs. Christianity/Judaism fire, radicalising far more Islamic extremists than any so called “hate preacher” could do.

According to the media class and people like yourself, fighting wars only in self-defence is a mad idea where as continual war is good (not that any of them have ever served in the military, where as Ron Paul did).

Take all the exception you want, it’s neither here nor there to me.

Yeah, defeating Fascism, defeating Japanese imperialism, defeating Soviet Communism, terrible failures.

There are many reasons for that. Picking military spending alone is cherry picking.

Youv’e been watching too many Michael Moore films. Islam was “radicalised” a long time ago, before the US was even that much involved in the ME.

The problem with this argument is that it assumes we are living in the 17th century. In a globalised world in which global trade is the norm, isolationism is not remotely realistic. Moreover, Paul defines national self defense in a way that is staggeringly naive. The reality is that self defense can and often in this world does require fighting enemies abroad, before they can strike at the US. Paul would wait until it is too late. That’s dumb.

Nature abhors a vacuum. The one and only thing US isolationism would achieve is allowing China to take it’s place.

I much prefer the US thanks.
