Police made burglaries vanish

Statistics altered over three years to make 700 burglary offences appear as other crimes or not as crimes at all

About 700 burglaries were “recoded” in the Counties Manukau south area over three years.

Police altered official crime statistics to make hundreds of burglaries disappear, a Herald on Sunday investigation has found.
A damning report obtained by the newspaper reveals the burglaries were instead recorded as more minor crimes, or as incidents, which are not counted in crime statistics at all.
Five police staff, including then area commander Gary Hill, were sanctioned over the incident, and an “extremely disappointed” Police Minister, Anne Tolley, has moved to reassure the public this is an isolated incident.

The covered up burglaries become a political problem if it could be shown that the Police were altering statistics to make sure that they met the politically imposed targets for crime reduction. So far, I don’t see any such link, but maybe further investigation would be warranted.

Green Party has just released their policy. I thought for once there was a Green policy I might support. Yet once again you get into the detail and all the good stuff is countered by anti business anti progress bullshit

Can’t we get consensus as a country that we want clean and healthy rivers through a combination of
– R&D: Give the universities actually something useful to do
– agreeing an accord with farmers around stock management, fencing off rivers and adjusting fertilising and if they don’t comply fine the arse off them
– sustainable develop to enable irrigation and water storage

The evidence of a crown minister trivialising 700 counts of burglary that would put a recidivist in jail for over 5 years is there for all to see and that the minister is corrupting due process by understating the court process that should be involved in this vast conspiracy pepertrated by high level police that the minister has now sided with.

My statement should see a warrant for my arrest and yet I know I will never see that warrant. Because the minister will not want this case further expanded in the public eye. That’s why she trivialised the whole dirty, corrupt pig swill we now have. Pun intended.

The official term of events, is accepted as the standard.

The conspiracy arises when people deviate from the official.

One of those to whom you refer to was found not guilty at the most recent trial. Therefore dear Shawn – it is you who are the conspiracy theorist. You are the one that is saying that the Privvy Council, and the Court of New Zealand (the Officials) are wrong.

Can you prove the police did not stand the magazine up they claimed David left.

Plus Joe Karam had a press release showing unreleased evidence that further exonerated Bain that police and prosecutors could not argue.

How did you miss that ???

Plus the ex detectives that lost their case against Karam completely with no shadow of doubt for them !!!!!

I doubt they could have gone further without incriminating them selves.

In this case it would never go to Court because WB has no evidence, nor is he reliable. He claims the police do nothing for burgs under $500. I know for a fact that is total bollocks, from personal experience.

What utter crap Judith. This is a General Debate thread. Debate means exactly that, debating, just in case your confused about that word.

As such, WB made a claim on a debating thread, and when challenged could not provide any evidence to his claim. That is what happens on a debating forum.

It is childish to think that people should be allowed to make statements on a debating thread, and just be left alone.

It’s also childish to make comments about someones dead mother.

In the discussion above, they are presenting their opinion which was formed by reading another persons opinion in the media. The argument is about something that was never recorded and for which no evidence can exist other than in a verbal statement form.

In the example you give, there was a factual statement made that a payment had been made. Evidence of a payment can not be destroyed, because the banking system of either the giver or the receiver will show evidence of it having been made, therefore it is something not based on opinion, but rather can be factually proven.

Wiki, you made the allegation about police corruption.The onus is on you to prove the police stood the magazine upright.Far as am aware nether Karam or anyone else , barring you, have made the claim.
What press release about unreleased evidence.?
As a master of interest in the defamation action bought by the police Karam offered to settle outbof court.Unwisely they chose not to.
BTW the jury did not say Karam was factually correct in his claim about the planting the lens but rather it was his “honest opinion “that thiis was the case.

Koopu is 34 so is getting on a bit to be a youth ambassador. If ‘Warriors’ hadn’t been mentioned I wouldn’t have connected him to league, although I’ve sort of followed the Warriors over the years.

I’ve never heard of “one of the coolest shows on Maori TV, CODE”.

I doubt “almost everyone” will know him, maybe some of MANA’s constituency but not across the youth of the country.

You seem to be making stating that evidence is required, so lets see yours !

I asked you a question, not made a statement = did your mommy know you were on the computer. At the time I did not know your mother was dead. I had not seen your reply as I was typing my next comment. Please provide evidence of where I made any statement about your dead mother?

As usual you take part of a comment and try to use it to prove something else, – my statement to Stephieboy was about him insisting on ‘facts’ – I was merely poking that fact back at him – but of course you are too dishonest to use statements in their context because that doesn’t suit your agenda.

Oh dear Judith yes I can, but it has nothing to do with the respective merit of each accusation, and more about who you do and don’t support. To be fair you are not the only person on KB with a strong bias.

Anyone who makes a strong claim whether it is to do with allegations of governmental coverups, or allegations of bribery and corruption, can expect to be invited to front up with evidence.

So you were quite correct to ask for evidence in June (despite the huge number of downticks), even if you have cognitive dissonance about it now. 🙂

Well for a start I never said it was compulsory, just the done thing, and that it is perfectly fair to expect some evidence for arguments or claims, EXACTLY as you did with Stephie.

The fact that you expect evidence from others, but don’t give it yourself, makes you a hypocrite. And then you are an even bigger hypocrite by inferring you are not one. You see anyone with a different opinion to yours as ‘irrational’, because you don’t tolerate difference. I willingly admit I can be a hypocrite and are biased, but you never see any fault with yourself.

Oh dear, now you pull the false name argument, as if using one you say is yours (and we have no way of knowing whether you are telling the truth or not, although I do suspect that ShawnLH is not your actual name) somehow makes you a better person.

ANYONE, especially a female that uses their name on an open internet site has very little regard for their person, unless they are doing it for professional reasons. Given that there are men on here that frequently call each other out, and incite violence, a person is insane to openly provide details that could allow some unbalanced person, such as yourself, to find them in person. Everyday we have examples of extreme violence in society demonstrated in our news, and yet, to win an argument, you would suggest a female willingly reveals her details on the web – I think that proves my point about your irrationality.
