Nice house, but the feng shui is extra

In the most prestigious streets in the luxury Sydney suburb of Mosman, it’s not always the buyer who makes the ultimate call on whether to purchase a home – sometimes it’s their feng shui consultant.

Richard Simeon, of Simeon Manners Property, recalls many deals that have gone ahead or been spiked based on a feng shui assessment.

Mr Simeon said he had a buyer willing to pay more than AU$20 million for the home of car-dealer Laurie Sutton, also on Bay Street. But when viewing the aerial images of the home, the consultant spotted an unfavourable rock formation off Fig Tree Point in Northbridge that ”formed a knife that pointed straight through his property”. That home later sold to different Chinese buyer for AU$20 million. ”Maybe they didn’t see the aerial shot,” Mr Simeon suggested.

From a legal standpoint, though, the buyer will forfeit the deposit unless the seller has agreed to a “no adverse feng shui effects” condition (or can rely on some other defeating condition in the sale and purchase agreement).

Has anyone seen a “no adverse feng shui effects” condition written into a contract?

Eketahuna is a friendly rural town nestled in the shadow of the Tararua Ranges. The early pioneers – Swedes, English, Norwegians and Germans – originally named the town Mellemskov. This name was eventually discarded in favour of ‘Eketahuna’, a Maori word which means to run aground on a sandbank (this name originated because Maori canoes could not paddle beyond this part of the Makakahi River).

Originally called Mellemskov – now called Eketahuna – all due to those Maori canoes!

Would really demonstrate our diversity as a nation.

Are those maoris (or those Maori) being racist? Surely not – they can’t be. Must have been those people who wanted to call the place Mellenskov – bloody swedes- or germans – or – who gives a shit?

We managed to get rid of the canoes ages back Nostradamus. There’s so many bends in the river you’d need articulated canoes anyway.

Towns about buggered now too. We’re down to a 4 Square Store, one community owned service station, two rural supplies branches, a garage, an engineers, a lunchbar, a souvenir shop & a couple of pubs doomed by the drink driving laws.

Welcome to small town NZ…..circa the 21st century.

It’s the name that sells the souvenirs…..it seems to epitomise a small rural town plus the community have capitalised on having the Mt Bruce Bird Sanctuary (Pukaha to the brainwashed) just down the road.

It’s just that although meat & wool are doing okay at the moment I was looking to branch out into the production of extra slippery mutton fat during the next cyclical price drop. This will be lightly scented with Jeyes Fluid which I’m certain will bring back memories of many a good boyhood wank.

Your local chapter of Catholic Conservatives might want a franchise for your area…..it could be a good fund raiser. 🙂

Banks’ wife Amanda, who now lives apart from her husband in the South Island, was also there in support.
