The “plain-packaging” law got me thinking about everything the government seeks to outlaw from our lives. And I can only wonder: where does it end?

First they came for the smokers in the pub, but I’m not a smoker, so I did not speak out.

Then they came for incandescent light bulbs, but I prefer natural light, so I did not speak out

Then they banned us from disciplining our children, but I’m not a parent, so I didn’t speak out

Then they micro-chipped all our dogs, but I own a cat, so I didn’t speak up

Then they decided all bike riders must wear helmets, but I like to walk, so I didn’t speak out.

Then they outlawed wood-burning fireplaces, but I use a heat-pump, so I did not speak out.

Then they banned trans fats, but I’m a healthy eater, so I did not speak out.

Then they prohibited bull-rush, but I’ve longed since finished primary school, so I did not speak out.

Then they banned alcohol from being bought at the corner dairy, but I don’t much like beer, so I did not speak out.

Then they banned pies from the tuck shop, but I eat sandwiches, so I did not speak out.

Then they regulated the water pressure in showerheads, but I prefer baths, so I did not speak out.

Then they forced people to put fences around their paddling pools, but I did not have a pool, so I did not speak out.

Then they forbade “Merry Christmas,” but I do not celebrate Christmas, so I did not speak out

Then they demonised a politician who did speak up but was considered “politically incorrect”, but as I don’t operate from a national platform, I did not speak out.

Then they finally managed to completely remove our right to free speech

And then no one could speak out.

Our centuries long experiment with liberty that began at Runnymede in 1215, reached its zenith in 1914, had ended……….but at least the government had made us safe.

Further to a post by DPF – NZ First youth wing head under investigation – Brendan Horan raised an issue in Question Time yesterday about the alleged use of false (Fred Dagg?) name by the Dirtector of Operations in Winston Peters’ office.

Brendan Horan: Would the Prime Minister think there would be transparency in an entity submitting multiple Official Information Act requests in a made-up name, such as, for example, Bruce Bayliss, and does he think such a practice would be transparent enough for a political party research unit?

Rt Hon JOHN KEY: I have no evidence to support that Mr Bayliss is putting in Official Information Act requests under a pseudonym or false name, but I am aware that Mr Bayliss is associated with, and works for, New Zealand First.

Peters tabled a list of NZ First staff members but this failed to address the use of a false name.

Ironically Peters complained about this “a tendency to get up and ask a supplementary question that has nothing to do with the primary question” but his original question was all about transparency. Winston Peters and transparency are about as un-alike as Winston Peters and Fredd Dagg.

Brendan Horan, Winston Peters, Bruce Bayliss and transparency – no denial by Peters, just his usual avoidance and diversion.

Just heard the old tusker King on the ZB Mike Hosking show. Hosking & Joyce had her on the ropes about recent comments made by the Silent T & Goof concerning JKs attempts to sort out Labours mess dating back to 2001. She was like a bloody turkey gobbling and gabbling on. The Silent T will not be pleased with her performance. Hosking also gave her stick about Labour getting into Bed with the Greens and Dot com.

Both the Greens and Labour would sell their grandmothers to get onto the treasury benches later this year. A very dangerous combination and one that decent Kiwis will want to avoid.

Dot Con is so keen to avoid extradition to face criminal charges that he will happily bankroll the Greens who have promised to block his possible extradition. I am sure that Dot Con will mange to break some electoral rule due to stupidity and ego. This could end up really hurting the dirty Greens.

COUPLE OF QUESTIONS:

Is it alright for a gay advocacy group to appropriate the Olympics and Bob Sleding/Luging, simulating male sex?

Why when gay groups promote themselves do they always focus on sex? (Is it because “being gay” is really just another form of human sex, and does that warrant a new gender definition (LGBTiQ); and contrive a whole separate ‘culture’?)

Rob Salmond at Polity (reposted at The Standard) has warned opposition parties about associating with Dotcom – “it all sounds pretty icky”.

Is it too late? Norman seems to be already stuck in icky. Peters is ducking for cover but reeks of icky. And Cunliffe and Labour could already be pretty icky too.

Associating with Dotcom has been bad for John Banks, Martyn Bradbury (that could also have been bad for Dotcom), and Alistair Thompson. I don’t know who else may have slunk off hoping for any association to be unseen.

Polity warns opposition parties – Dotcom sounds pretty icky – but it’s too late for a growing list of people. And parties?

All passports issued on or after 24 April 2005 – both adult and child – have a maximum validity of five years as a result of the Passports Amendment Act (2005).

@ Colville – we want to win this test. A two-nil series win takes New Zealand up to #7 in the ICC test match rankings, and drops India to #3. It would also be great to send the Indian’s home with just a solitary tie to show for seven matches of cricket against a team ranked well below them.

Good discussion on the social engineering processes and techniques underlying the gay movement that outlines how society is played like a violin and very useful for that purpose alone regardless of the subject matter if you don’t understand how society is engineered.

BTW, to said useful idiots, my brother who I love deeply is gay, so please don’t waste your time hallucinating I’m against gays. I’m against social engineering because that’s what’s destroying society as we speak in all sorts of social arenas, the gay movement is merely one of them. If you don’t think social engineering exists then ask yourself why its only western nations that have been affected by this movement whereas the rest of the world isn’t. Doesn’t that show you that something is going on here that isn’t going on in the rest of the world? And if you hallucinate that’s because we’re ‘more advanced’ then you’re falling for the ‘human wights’ disguise that all the useful idiots fall for when they look at social engineering, just like they did with the gay marriage hallucination that it was about that.

(1) Quickly. I would expect the legislation to be passed before Christmas, with the higher rate applying immediately.

(2) How likely? A probability of about 38% according to ipredict which I think is a fair assessment right now. It has been falling for three months but anything could happen in the next few months. So a Labour win is less likely than a National win. However, MMP is yet to deliver its potential for horrors. It is only a matter of time. I think in 50 years historians will look at the 2011 MMP referendum and winder why the country was sleep walking.

Cunliffe on conversations with Dotcom:

Cha, that’s right, I’ve posted that confluence several times in the last few months. Most of the US corporate activity is not plant reinvestment but share buyback and that combined with the QE has painted a false picture in the numbers – there is nothing behind them.

Some people are predicting a significant crash much worse than 2007 in Q1 this year. I’m afraid I’m with them but my predictions are normally ahead of time, I was picking 2007 in 2005 for example. But it’s coming no doubt about it and when it does, it’s going to take the global markets with it.

The legislation is almost certainly already drawn up and will be in parliament in the first week following the election.

Why do you suggest they will only limit it to the top tax rate?

They may be financial imbeciles but I am sure that there must be one of them ( Damian OConner?) who has bought themselves a calculator from the Warehouse and realised that we simply don’t have enough rich pricks to pay for all of David’s promises to the unions, and for all of Russel’s idealist dreams of a communist nirvana. Especially when they realise that some of the current “rich pricks” are actually dairy farmers who the Greens intend to bankrupt – hence the tax revenue will drop.

Expect a redefinition of “rich prick” to $60K early next year when they start running out of money.

The rainbow political advocates have now added a further letter to the gender-bending alphabet. it’s now LGBTiQ. ‘i’ stands for “intersex” (whatever that is). Does the ‘Q’ stand for “queens” or “queer” or something else? I can’t keep up. We need a glossary.

Hermaphroditism is just a subset of intersex (which is the internationally recognised term when discussing such conditions).

Hermaphrodite is probably the term most people would recognise in relation to that group though.

If New Zealand is to be smokefree by 202o, and the unrevealed TPP does contain the ability for big international corporates to sue for loss of market share due to local legislation changes that disadvantage them, what will it cost for New Zealand to cease the annual manufacture of six billion cigarettes for the Australian market, since it should be illegal for New Zealand to be manufacturing them – not only in bloody plain packaging, but at all – and economically self destructive to stop manufacturing them?

And in fact the bloody Aussies have this up their sleeves – they bring in plain packaging, that becomes Australia’s legal requirement and the dopey New Zealand Petone based manufacturer is the one to physically do it … at what come back?

Some one should ask Cunliffe that, if he is not to busy with Dotcom discussing what to do about the 72 page Grand Jury Indictment by the Courts of East Virginia, which has not been diminished one iota by the FBI inspired Key-stoned mistakes New Zealand Police made in arresting this 6XL German.

It is a well known fact Labour/Greens are only interested in the younger, loser types, as they secure them votes. They will increase bludging benefits for DPP, dole, etc., reduce and means test old age pensions, as these people are on borrowed time and may not be around to vote for them. There will be many taxes of envy, unfairness for those that have worked and accumulated, businesses will get taxed on turnover, Lotto will be taxed at least 30%, and racing will be screwed to the point that it will not survive.

Very clever calculation from Jones about the supermarkets allegedly rorting NZ suppliers in Parliament today. Will be lead item on news tonight, I imagine.

Do we need a supermarket ombudsman like they have in Aus, to mediate issues between supermarkets and suppliers, given the enormous power supermarkets have?

Big contrast between this action and Cunliffe’s bumbling foray into the new year. And maybe that’s what Jones is ultimately aiming at. So far, he’s succeeded.
