Cunliffe’s new chief press secretary

Stuff reports:

A month after he became Labour leader, David Cunliffe is yet to name his chief press secretary. Former Helen Clark spin doctor David Lewis, who worked on Auckland Mayor Len Brown’s election campaign, has ruled it out and David Shearer’s top spinner Julian Robins has moved on. So far Mr Cunliffe has appointed former EPMU spokesman Neale Jones as communications boss, while Chris Harrington, ex-British High Commission, is on contract.

I understand an offer has been made to a former Editor of the Sunday Star-Times but that negotiations with her are on-going in terms of salary.

If Cunliffe gets her, that will be a significant strengthening of his office.
