Indeed Johnboy. Malaria is not just a disease of the tropics. There have been many outbreaks in Europe, with an especially bad one in Russia. A place not known for its mild climate !

Your ‘stable government’ is the one which allows Iran to transfer missiles to Palestine and Lebanon – via Syria.

As the Israelis are saying “we don’t want to do anymore than we need to in Syria, otherwise the forces there that are against us will combine….and we don’t need the unrest coming across our boarder…..”

Obama has said that “Israel does have the right to destroy those missiles[hard fuel] as their destination is ultimately Israel.”

Well the good thing is Kea – Reid would have also got your name wrong as well! 😎

Green Party MP Holly Walker has confirmed she is pregnant, telling her followers on Twitter that ‘‘the cat’s out of the bag’’.

The 30-year-old MP released a poster drawn up by friends yesterday, highlighting several photos of a bump on her belly and asking, ‘‘Is Holly hiding something?’’

Walker, a Rhodes Scholar and former student newspaper editor, entered Parliament following the 2011 election.

While the posts did not disclose when Walker is due to give birth, one of the photos of the bump was taken when the anti asset sale petition was presented to Parliament on March 12, almost two months ago.

The pregnancy is not the only one of the current term, with Labour’s Nanaia Mahuta, the MP for Hauraki-Waikato, giving birth to her second child in December.

Is there a Mr Holly Walker does anyone know? or is it Gaia’s fault?

Malaria certainly isn’t a new thing for the UK, it was endemic in places like the Romney Marsh in Kent until improved drainage cut mosquito breeding areas in the 1800’s.

Soon people will be able to enjoy most of the advantages of personal transport without even owning a car. Driverless cars already have a proven safety record: cars developed by Google have already covered 300,000 miles all over California without a single accident. Convoys of trucks with a single driver have already driven on the motorways in Europe.

Live Lightning Tracker

WeatherWatch.co.nz links to the “combined” output of the four detectors (across NZ) and therefore the symbols don’t have anything to do with the key. In this case they indicate which of the four detectors they came from.

The detectors themselves are Boltek Stormtrackers which receive the radio bursts generated by lightning. (You can hear these crackles on an AM radio). It uses a direction-finding aerial to work out the strike bearing and the distance is estimated from the signal strength – the PC software (NexStorm) analyses strikes over time to try to improve the distance accuracy.

However if you click on the individual detector pages (in blue just below the tracker itself) then the symbols have the following meaning:

Viking2, tell us more about the “imminent” revolution ?

Things like driverless cars may work ok in dense urban environments, but that is not what we have in NZ. We are still a very outdoor oriented place. You can not catch a minibus to your private picnic spot, hunting area, mountain biking trail etc. They do not fit with our lifestyle and are unlikely to for a very long time. There may be some appeal for white middle class wankers in some parts of Auckland, but that would be about it.

PETER DUNNE I have no idea, because that decision’s ultimately not made by me but by my voters in Ohariu in the first instance, and that’s a decision that they will have the opportunity to refresh or reject next year.

I haven’t asked him directly about this recently (last year he said he would wait until 2013 to decide). But I’ve just tweeted about this and he retweeted “A hint that @PeterDunneMP may have another crack at Ohariu in next year’s election: Dunne to contest the next election?” without contesting it so there’s hope for the perpetual moaners.

I knew you’d be pleased Manolo, it would get boring for you just moaning about John Key and National.

I’ve no idea what I’ll be doing next year, I have other things to try out this year and see where that goes. If Dunne stands again he will have a good chance, but the party needs a good boot up the bum if it’s to make any headway. I don’t know if I can be bothered.

At a protest last week Peter Dunne listened to his electorate and was convinced to vote against asset sales. Today he went to parliament to inform the government that he was withdrawing his support for the bill. Unfortunately the security staff would not let the person pulling Dunne’s strings into parliament. Personally I think it’s a bit of a double standard that when John Key pulls Peter’s strings he is allowed in. But I guess that’s just one of the perks of being Prime Minister.

Nostradamus – I’ve achieved more doing that than I would have standing as an independent as I originally intended, and there are few if any other parties I could have done it with (and maintained a degree of integrity).

Actually I still think for the right people wanting a fast track into influential politics that UF could provide a useful vehicle. But it’s hard finding people who both could be interested and are willing to expose themselves to the level of scrutiny it invites. You just have to see what’s happening now to the backest of the National back benchers once the media get the sniff of blood.

Ah, no. DGs 3strikes places more value on the sanctity of life, because it takes some steps to keeping nutbars who have proven themselves incapable of living in society without other members being at risk. The lives being saved are the future victims which do not eventuate because they are locked up. Judges have generally proven themselves uninterested in protecting the public and far too nterested in pandering to excuses by criminals.

Holdens all the rage then?

HOLDEN is about to embark on its biggest ever sales push to get the Commodore back into more Australian driveways.

Holden will cut the cost of a new Commodore by almost $10,000 when the new model arrives in June, in the process rolling back prices by more than a decade.

The new VF Commodore line-up will start at $34,990 plus on-road costs with a new family and fleet model called the Evoke, which merges the old Omega and Berlina variants.

The last time the RRP of a base model Commodore dipped below $35,000 was 14 years ago, in 1999.

A question for women:

When have you ever been shopping at your local supermarket, got to the front of the queue, your purchases have been scanned & bagged, turned to face the lady at the till for them to say, “You know, you can skip paying this week. Thanks for coming & hope to see you again soon”?

If the answer to this is NEVER then why is it always such a shock when they ask you for money, leaving you in a flustered state as you rummage through your handbag for your purse which you then take an age disembowelling to find the appropriate loyalty card & debit cart combination which were hidden by the useless detritus of 5 years worth of till receipts & other pointless pieces of paper you insist on carrying about your person?

All this time consuming & pointless exercise, when compounded over all the other women in the queue, considerably adds to the time other, more considerate, people have to spend on their shopping.

A tip for you: shop like a bloke. Use the ample time you have queuing to pick out your appropriate payment method combinations for that particular store.

Doing so could save an otherwise placid rural gentleman from one day flipping & clubbing you to death with a cricket bat!

Hopeless.
still its a laugh seeing commies instead of ford crown cruisers on American cop shows.
