One of the only reasons why Winston Peters could have the detail of information he claims to have about Peter Dunne leaking the Kitteridge report is if Andrea Vance (or someone in the know at Fairfax) leaked information about her source to Peters.

And who prompted Henry to investigate Dunne? Someone must have tipped him.

Have Fairfax leaked to Peters? Fairfax could easily rule that out.

Al Nisbet’s ‘racist’ [but not officially] cartoons –

A political cartoon is supposed to be funny/sartirical and usually an exaggeration of reality to make a point.
Now tell me about Winston Peter’s comments the other day regarding the Chinese.

[Also, how is Nisbet being racist when more than half his characters have other than black hair, with some apparently Grey Power? So agist, perhaps offensive to the circumferentially challenged, but not racist]
And at least Al Nisbet had the guts to not need to release his cartoons under Parliamentary Privilege …

The Nesbit cartoon, and other recent episodes, lead me to suggest that the Race Relations Commission and the Human Rights Commission be disbanded in favour of The Harden Up Commission.

Free (but compulsory) tuition will be given to sookies, howlybags and the easily-offended.

Extra tuition will be given for those who get offended on behalf of others.

Unlike Opposition policies, this one is serious, and has been properly-costed. One of the main costs is, of course, the Commissioner’s salary and clothing allowance. Here he is:

The lies told about the cartoons were blatant. They tried to say it showed a “family” working together to run a con…bullshit. There were two brown characters,two old white ones and some kids who looked curious about who these people with them were…..the Left are so full of shit.

What was really disturbing were the hardly veiled threats of State regulation (force) against the free press in NZ by certain Lefty parties. That should have been a wake up call to anyone concerned with freedom and rights in this country.

Sir Henry, who was chairman when Fonterra was dragged into the 2008 Sanlu melamine scandal, warned exporters to be wary of fraudulent behaviour in China.

“Don’t ever trust them … never,” he said at a businesswomen’s conference in Tauranga over the weekend.

Yesterday he apologised, saying the comments were ill-judged and had been taken out of context.

“What I was trying to say is they work in a different culture and you need to be aware that things are often done quite differently,” he told National Radio. “It was an ill-judged comment that I made and I do actually regret making the comment and I actually have apologised, to China, its government and its people.”

Chinese business people don’t trust each other FFS, so why should others who can’t understand their language, their (lack of) ethics or their apparent moral vacuum give them the keys to the office safe?

Look carefully at any Asian family business large or small and you will find a family member in charge of the warehouse (inventory), another in charge of the cash (accounting) and a third in charge of purchasing (payments). It is not a co-incidence that the 3 areas of possible leakage are shut to outsiders and retained under the strictest of family control.

Is that enough stereotyping for one day?

I have a lovely Chinese friend, a businessman who has done business all over the world..He has one rule..He will never , ever ,ever do business with anyone from China..The reason he gives..They don’t pay you!! He speaks fluent Mandarin so has no trouble communicating. This issue of Chinese not paying has been around for along time..Remember our wool exports.

As was said on talkback radio recently by some bleeding heart lefty, “….calling someone a N…… is not ‘racism’ but ‘racial abuse’, talking ‘negatively’ ‘unkindly’ ect in ‘referance’ to anything ‘around’ their ‘being’ is being ‘racist’.

I caught Al on TV. Seems like a straight-talking call a spade a spade working class type of bloke. Doesn’t feel the need to wrap everything up in overly-polite PC bullshit.

Seems to me in NZ that the best predictors of a person weighing 120kg+ is 1) bottom 10-20% income 2) brown skin. So… I’d say the characters depicted aren’t even exaggerated.

(I see obese people from other races but they’re just not on the same scale… so to speak. Or frequency. At the local shops the brown person body composition is more fat than anything else. Every second or third one of them is a disgusting Gerry Brownlee size slobfest.

And when they use a stall… I’m telling you it’s like someone has shoved a fuckin cow on a human shitter and unleashed the fury leaving behind a devastation which conjours up images of a levelled world war two city mashed up with a burst sewer main.

What’s it like when your arse is multiple times the size of the toilet seat? What happens to all of the excess bulk when it sits there? Does it actually fold down and touch ceramic underside or what? Fuck me days. It’s enough weight to break toilets I tell ya. Shift them off their foundations. I wouldn’t let them use mine- are you gonna fix it if you break it ya greedy ten chin mofo?)

Congratulations to Marina Erakovic…. through to the third round of the French Open.

Her second trip to a grand slam third round at age 25 having first achieved the feat at Wimbledon 2008.

She faces an opponent in 20 year old American 17th seed Sloane Stephens that she’s well capable of beating, which would 99% likely see her meet world no.2 Maria Sharapova in the fourth round should she win.

If Erakovic makes the quarter-finals- she starts leading the 6pm news. It would be that big.

And unlike the big names that have been there done that- she’s playing to enter unknown territory and a personal best. It must be an emotional experience when she’s worked her arse off and now with a thus far very rare career highlight opportunity in the offering.

One fella was disappointed that I asked him about his obvious Cornwall accent. I thought… you’ve got to be shitting me mate. Anyway…

That’s why we’ll always love Sir Peter Jackson… because you’ll have to strain and work hard to decipher the mangled accent just like any other local. He’s the film director next door… bless…

The opposition to the Nisbet cartoons is an attempt to secure a point as a given (officially/politically correct -get smacked for saying it, if you do). That point (they want to nullify) is that food in schools carries a moral hazard and that their are (in society) useless/bad types who will take advantage of that. That is who the people in the cartoons are. The Minto’s etc want those characters airbrushed from the national dialogue as they did the solo mother getting up the duff as a lifestyle choice.

I don’t get the virulent anti racism of the left. I get as when low life woman in Chch set her dog on a Japanese lady. I get stereo typing in so far as not all Tongans are big and athletic, not all Maori are crims or on welfare. However Tongans tend to be on the big side, compared to Japanese..?

Your ‘friend’ should have arranged payment in advance of goods being supplied or had the customer provide an irrevocable LC from a reputable bank.

Whilst this option doesn’t cure xenophobia, it alleviates any payment concerns relating to customers – anywhere in the world.

Designs for many of the nation’s most sensitive advanced weapons systems have been compromised by Chinese hackers, according to a report prepared for the Pentagon and to officials from government and the defense industry.

Among more than two dozen major weapons systems whose designs were breached were programs critical to U.S. missile defenses and combat aircraft and ships, according to a previously undisclosed section of a confidential report prepared for Pentagon leaders by the Defense Science Board.

Experts warn that the electronic intrusions gave China access to advanced technology that could accelerate the development of its weapons systems and weaken the U.S. military advantage in a future conflict.

The Defense Science Board, a senior advisory group made up of government and civilian experts, did not accuse the Chinese of stealing the designs. But senior military and industry officials with knowledge of the breaches said the vast majority were part of a widening Chinese campaign of espionage against U.S. defense contractors and government agencies.

The age of The Terminator approaches, where robots can take human life based on their own programming with no human intervention.

Should robots be allowed to take a human life, without direct supervision or command?

Science fiction met reality at the United Nations in Geneva overnight, where this question was debated at a meeting of the Human Rights Council.

UN special rapporteur Christof Heyns told the council that countries are developing armed robots that can kill without the need for human choice or intervention, and they need to call a halt before it’s too late.

“The possible introduction of LARs (lethal autonomous robots) raises far-reaching concerns about the protection of life during war and peace,” Heyns said. “If this is done, machines and not humans, will take the decision on who is alive or dies.”

Heyns presented a report on his research and called for a worldwide moratorium on the production and deployment of such machines, while nations figured out the knotty legal and ethical issues.

“War without reflection is mechanical slaughter,” he said. “In the same way that the taking of any human life deserves – as a minimum – some deliberation, a decision to allow machines to be deployed to kill human beings deserves a collective pause worldwide.”

Heyns warned that if humans are taken “out of the loop” then it could make war more likely.

Ive had good an bad experiences with Seppos, Poms, Chinese, Malays, Ockers and Kiwis. In fact, one of the worst was here in NZ. That said, China protects / turns a blind eye to their nationals ripping off Johnny Foreigner. We were asked to invest some of our interweb IP into a Chinese venture, and I refused, knowing the risk of copy and run was too high – and was proved right when competitors found exactly that 12 months after they did.

SOME:
Poms will stab you in the back given half a chance, they cannot be trusted
Chinese will nick shit, including IP
Malays are lazy 🙂
Seppo’s are crass, untraveled and badly educated
Ockers are all of those things, plus their taste in women and beer is dreadful 🙂

CFCs are already known to deplete ozone, but in-depth statistical analysis now shows that CFCs are also the key driver in global climate change, rather than carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

“Conventional thinking says that the emission of human-made non-CFC gases such as carbon dioxide has mainly contributed to global warming. But we have observed data going back to the Industrial Revolution that convincingly shows that conventional understanding is wrong,” said Qing-Bin Lu, a professor of physics and astronomy, biology and chemistry in Waterloo’s Faculty of Science. “In fact, the data shows that CFCs conspiring with cosmic rays caused both the polar ozone hole and global warming.”

This is real science, test the theory and make conclusions from the results, not have the conclusion and fit the results to fit this conclusion.

And Griff, WUWT is only stating the journal, not making anything up.

Tureia I think the real reason for the suicide rate being so high in Young maori can mainly be attributed to Maori leaders failing to set standards and being consistent in their message that SELF RESPONSIBILITY is personal not collective.
Hence Tureia, and other leaders quite simply aren’t leading.The worst kind of weakness can be inflamed or doused by excuse makers and headlinegrabbers.

As The Economist magazine reported in March, “The world added roughly 100 billion tonnes of carbon to the atmosphere between 2000 and 2010. That is about a quarter of all the CO2 put there by humanity since 1750.” Yet, still no warming during that time. That is because the CO2 greenhouse effect is weak and marginal compared to natural causes of global temperature changes.

At first the current stall out of global warming was due to the ocean cycles turning back to cold. But something much more ominous has developed over this period. Sunspots run in 11 year short term cycles, with longer cyclical trends of 90 and even 200 years. The number of sunspots declined substantially in the last 11 year cycle, after flattening out over the previous 20 years. But in the current cycle, sunspot activity has collapsed. NASA’s Science News report for January 8, 2013 states,

“Indeed, the sun could be on the threshold of a mini-Maunder event right now. Ongoing Solar Cycle 24 [the current short term 11 year cycle] is the weakest in more than 50 years. Moreover, there is (controversial) evidence of a long-term weakening trend in the magnetic field strength of sunspots. Matt Penn and William Livingston of the National Solar Observatory predict that by the time Solar Cycle 25 arrives, magnetic fields on the sun will be so weak that few if any sunspots will be formed. Independent lines of research involving helioseismology and surface polar fields tend to support their conclusion.”

That is even more significant because NASA’s climate science has been controlled for years by global warming hysteric James Hansen, who recently announced his retirement.

But this same concern is increasingly being echoed worldwide. The Voice of Russia reported on April 22, 2013,

“Global warming which has been the subject of so many discussions in recent years, may give way to global cooling. According to scientists from the Pulkovo Observatory in St.Petersburg, solar activity is waning, so the average yearly temperature will begin to decline as well. Scientists from Britain and the US chime in saying that forecasts for global cooling are far from groundless.”

That report quoted Yuri Nagovitsyn of the Pulkovo Observatory saying, “Evidently, solar activity is on the decrease. The 11-year cycle doesn’t bring about considerable climate change – only 1-2%. The impact of the 200-year cycle is greater – up to 50%. In this respect, we could be in for a cooling period that lasts 200-250 years.” In other words, another Little Ice Age.

Global warming was never going to be the problem that the Lysenkoists who have brought down western science made it out to be. Human emissions of CO2 are only 4 to 5% of total global emissions, counting natural causes. Much was made of the total atmospheric concentration of CO2 exceeding 400 parts per million. But if you asked the daffy NBC correspondent who hysterically reported on that what portion of the atmosphere 400 parts per million is, she transparently wouldn’t be able to tell you. One percent of the atmosphere would be 10,000 parts per million. The atmospheric concentrations of CO2 deep in the geologic past were much, much greater than today, yet life survived, and we have no record of any of the catastrophes the hysterics have claimed. Maybe that is because the temperature impact of increased concentrations of CO2 declines logarithmically. That means there is a natural limit to how much increased CO2 can effectively warm the planet, which would be well before any of the supposed climate catastrophes the warming hysterics have tried to use to shut down capitalist prosperity.

Sometime pretty soon there will start to be indictments, for fraud, against the proponents of global warming.

Yet, just last week, there was Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson telling us, by way of attempting to tutor Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), Chairman of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, “For the record, and for the umpteenth time, there is no ‘great amount of uncertainty’ about whether the planet is warming and why.” If you can read, and you have gotten this far in my column, you know why Robinson’s ignorance is just another Washington Post abuse of the First Amendment. Mr. Robinson, let me introduce you to the British Met Office, stalwart of Global Warming “science,” such as it is, which has already publicly confessed that we are already three quarters through 20 years of No Global Warming!

Booker could have been writing about Robinson when he concluded his Sunday Telegraph commentary by writing, “Has there ever in history been such an almighty disconnect between observable reality and the delusions of a political class that is quite impervious to any rational discussion?”

But there is a fundamental problem with the temperature records from this contentious period, when climate science crashed into political science. The land based records, which have been under the control of global warming alarmists at the British Met Office and the Hadley Centre Climate Research Unit, and at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the U.S., show much more warming during this period than the incorruptible satellite atmosphere temperature records. Those satellite records have been further confirmed by atmospheric weather balloons. But the land based records can be subject to tampering and falsification.

Rather than give us an accurate and comprehensive Sports report from round the world they would rather be drooling cheerleaders for the Kremlin that is New Zealand rugby. Other sports don’t really matter (unless it’s yachting). Snide comments about Wayne Barnes are commonplace, and when the Six Nations report comes on they proudly display the title ‘Boring Rugby’ in the background. (how fucking childish is that?)
Anyone who has been at Murrayfield with 60,000 Scots singing and experienced tension and atmosphere that the Tri Nations/Super Rugby and their half-empty stadiums can only dream of will find such comments laughable.

The focus of the weathermen now is to remain relevant and keep the dollars coming in. Weathermen are people too and have families to feed and bills to pay. They also enjoy the recognition and attention their obscure area of interest has had in recent years.

Trust me, they will invent another problem to study and the billions will keep flowing.

The council needs to decide, now, whether to go down road A, Road B or Road C. Stats NZ has generated some hypothetical data projections that might be of some help to them in their analysis.

And then an unwashed pinko activist like YOU wants to ask whether it’s LAWFUL that the council planners used one of Stats NZ’s projections rather than another of them?

I hope you are successful in your mayoralty campaign Penny.

In 16 years owning a workshop dealing with a lot of food outlets always found the Asians good to work with. Always had a bit of padding in the quote that could be trimmed out in the negotiation and the foreman was allowed to give a bit of a freebie if there was a little thing that could be done as a sweetener. Always got paid as we walked out the door. Often in large wads of folding.
Indians, always demanded 50% up front and usually regreted taking the job. Always charged a lot more tho.

Dutch. One job only ever. Did a full resturant kitchen install. After the job was finished it rained hard and the roof leaked. Foreman who had done the flashing went for a look couldnt see anything wrong. Still raining and roof is still leaking thru the lights. This is on a Saturday. I go for a look, I call my partner down for a look. Its 6 pm on a Saturday. We start pulling the roof off to see what the problem is. Find the box gutter is overflowing because its sloped the wrong way by the elcheapo builder hired by the owners. We “fix” it so it wont flood over the weekend. replace roof. Its 9 pm on Saturday night. I have missed seeing the All Blacks destroy the Aussies. We dont get a thankyou from the owners. We dont get paid for 4 months and only then after court action. This is 10 years ago. I have never eaten there nor as anyone I know (to my knowledge)

Not that I am bitter! Arghhhh!

So Peter Dunne can remain a Minister, but this puts major doubt on him going beyond the current term.

UF temporarily cancels party registration

UnitedFuture Party President Robin Gunston today announced that the party has asked the Electoral Commission to cancel its registration as a political party while it clears up inconsistencies in its confirmed membership numbers.

“While we have well over the 500 members required under Section 71 A of the Electoral Act for a political party to be registered, there are inconsistencies in the party’s records around current addresses and the financial status of some of those members,” Mr Gunston said.

“Quite simply, this meant that we could not, hand-on-heart, sign the required statutory declaration to swear to our membership.

“For that reason, we have asked the Electoral Commission to cancel the party’s registration while we confirm the numbers.

“We are certainly very confident that this will be sorted out and our registration restored, but it is about complying with both the letter and the spirit of the law,” he said.

Time will tell what this actually means.

I don’t imagine he will be shivering in a cold council flat unable to pay his electricity bills however. he will have quite a nest egg for his declining years given the super scheme our representatives have

i see that funny face Micky Mouse over at the standard is spouting forth about John Key going to be rolled by Crusher. He keeps ordering popcorn. I would have thought he had plenty left over from when he stocked up for the Silent Ts failed cue on the sheep. I hear Micky was sobing with frustration when he saw the silent Ts tilt at the crown fall flat on its face. He just cannot not pick the winning team. What a useless tosser.
