As the Guardian revealed last week, two secretive organisations working for US billionaires have spent $118m to ensure that no action is taken to prevent manmade climate change. While inflicting untold suffering on the world’s people, their funders have used these opaque structures to ensure that their identities are never exposed.

The exposure of this funding reinforces the claim by David Frum, formerly a fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, that such groups “increasingly function as public relations agencies”.

This is the new political frontier. Corporations and their owners have learned not to show their hands. They tend to avoid the media, aware that they will damage their brands by being seen to promote the brutal agenda that furthers their interests. So they have learned from the tobacco companies: stay hidden and pay others to do it for you.

They need a network of independent-looking organisations that can produce plausible arguments in defence of their positions. Once the arguments have been developed, projecting them is easy. Most of the media is owned by billionaires, who are happy to promote the work of people funded by the same class. One of the few outlets they don’t own – the BBC – has been disgracefully incurious about the identity of those to whom it gives a platform.

There is no proof whatsoever that mans activities are causing climate change. Yes there is a lot of change – but its simply a theory that man has a major (or even minor) influence.

Leaving aside the serious questions about such corrupt things as the hockey stick lies that the like of Gore tried to con us with, the cause of the Little ice age (approx 1000 – 1200AD) and the Medieveil warm periods (around 800AD) remain totally unexplained except for the fact that CO2 couldnt have been a factor.
Depending on whose figures one uses, there was about a 6C change from the warmth of the warm period to the minimum of the little ice age. One group (the pro man made lot) basically say that these two periods are way over rated and really didnt happen. The other lot quite rightly say that the causes remain fully unknown and that this belief in CO2 is misplaced and if the cause is not CO2, then we will be in deep shit when things continue to change even if westop all use of carbon.
They have a point. If we stopped using carbon tomorrow it will be at least a hundred years befor the CO2 levels start falling – and by then we might find that temperatures are way up anyway because the cause turned out to be something else.

Oh Griff – get real – the reason governments are running with the anti carbon theory is because its another income stream – called tax.

Id much rather we did things like realise that whatever is done , it will be decades – maybe even centuries – before anything starts reversing – so no matter what the cause we will probably have to face higher temperatures and possible sea level rises – so we would be best to plan for new plant breeding to produce plants that handle higher temperatures, to start now to find new drugs and proceedures to handle the spread of tropical deseases, etc.

Because its doesnt matter what the cause – these things will happen.

But to blindly assume that a tax will reduce carbon usage, and to totally believe that carbon is the cause and that we will be able to reverse its effect (if it is the casue ) is pretty one eyed and a seriously dangerous optiion to take.

Another bollocks headline from Stuff:

A mother has complained to the media that, because her child was ‘over tired’ and ‘unsettled,’ she was asked to get off an Air NZ flight to CHC and as a result she was made to feel ‘like a criminal.’ The mother’s version of events suggests the pilot refused to fly them because the child was crying.

But the facts suggest otherwise….

The kid did not want to be seated (with his belt fastened) prior to take off – in breach of CAA regulations. Indeed, had the pilot taken off and the child was injured in the climb out (as he was unrestrained), all hell would break loose and the pilot (and the crew) would be in the crap for allowing the plane to take off with unrestrained passengers! And the Stuff story suggests the mother realised well after the fact that her child had to be seated….. with a seat belt on. Doh!

There is an increasing trend of headlines being totally misleading / deviating from reality / being sensationalist / telling outright porkies – and between Stuff and the NZ Hoorald, they have the market cornered.

after 45 years of research we do know far more. The 95% certainty is the climate will continue to warm with a 2.4 to 4.5 degree C rise in temperature for a doubling of co2. There is more chance of it being more than 4.5 than for being less than 2.4
2.4 degrees does not sound like much warmer when you think of weather when it comes to climate it is significant
That is why the consensus view of science says we have a problem.

In the 1990s there had been an entire series of milder and stormier winters. […] However, this trend has not been observed over the last years. Compared to the 1980-2010 mean winter temperature:
– 2008/2009: 1.0 C cooler
– 2009/2010: 2.0 C cooler

Formal complaints were lodged with BBC over the inaccuracy and bias of these documentaries, which, according to 9/11 activists, was in breach of the operating requirements of BBC through their ‘Royal Charter and Agreement’ with the British public. This document requires BBC to show information that is both accurate and impartial. These complaints were supported by the US-based educational charity Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth (AE911Truth), which submitted detailed scientific evidence to BBC to buttress the complaints. The evidence focuses in particular on the confirmed free-fall of WTC 7 and NIST’s 2008 admission of this fact. In addition, over 300 AE911Truth petition signers supported these complaints by sending letters to BBC, requesting that BBC show this evidence to the public.

This is just for “carbon trading” alone and only for Europe over a year.

This is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of total cost of the AGW industry. ( remember to double it for NZ dollars, its in Euros)

The worth of traded EU carbon allowances and UN emissions credits fell from €95 billion in 2011 to a reported €61 billion.

In scope and expense, the U.S. military involvement in Africa still barely registers when compared with its presence in Asia, let alone the Middle East or Afghanistan. On any given day, there are only about 5,000 U.S. troops scattered across all of Africa, while 28,000 are stationed in South Korea alone.

But it is becoming more common for the Pentagon to deploy troops to parts of Africa that many Americans would be hard-pressed to locate on a map, such as Djibouti, the Central African Republic and now the West African country of Niger, where the U.S. military is planning a base for Predator drones.
