Listener on DPF

A few months ago David Cohen from the Listener said he would like to do a profile on me. I think my reaction was that they must have run out of interesting people, if they were down to me 🙂

Anyway I agreed to it, partly because as David C pointed out, I had never done one anywhere. He interviewed me a few months ago, and I quite enjoyed it as we didn’t actually discuss politics too much – but lots of other stuff.

I then got quite worried about how it would appear, remembering David’s considerable acerbity and wit which he used to use at my expense in NBR. But it appeared in last week’s Listener, and I have to say I think it is very fair, with nothing out of context.

I will point out that the binoculars referred to actually came with my Time magazine subscription – honest! Also the photo of me as the devil is not photoshopped, but an actual photo of me at the Parliamentary Ball which had a Halloween theme – it took me ages to scrub off the red body paint!
