Phil my friends mum is in her 40’s smoking dope and living off the benefit. She knows her mum is a loser, and loves her so much but is in despair at her inability to cope with anything in particular. She’s been smoking dope since she was 16. What you do is horrific, and it’s a real shame your kid is going to grow up thinking smoking dope all the time as an adult is a good thing.

Actually phil I don’t drink. So I guess you get the terrible father award. I mean its tragic, you’re not a write off, so why do you insist on living as you do, it’s just toxic and terrible for your kid and I feel ashamed of you and sorry for the kid. My friends mum at least had some kind of excuse. Her husband and my friends dad committed suicide in front of her the day after their wedding, and then her oldest boy drowned. This all happened in my friends mums early twenties, and 30 years later she is still on the benefit smoking dope. But even then it is not an excuse because she has two other daughters and other step children now.

It’s one thing to smoke dope occasionally in the rare off time you have with a job and a busy productive life, and in secret away from your children, or in University very occasionally when you are getting good grades for everything and otherwise looking after yourself. It’s another to do what you do, on the benefit, with a kid right there. I’m not going to say any more to you phil. But I know that you know what you are doing is wrong and I think you should stop it, now.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has sacked her environment minister, Norbert Roettgen, days after he led her party to a crushing defeat in a key regional election.

If not sure what’s more intriguing. The fact that she sacked one of her closest confidantes, or the fact that Germany has a Pirate Party with 7.8% of the vote:

Official results give the Social Democrats (SPD) 39.1%, the Christian Democrats (CDU) 26.3%, the Greens 11.3%, the Free Democrats (FDP) 8.6%, the Pirates 7.8% and the Left, 2.5%, reported AP news agency.

It’s the 2012 Olympics. The final of the Hammer Throw event is shaping up for an exciting finish. It’s all come down to a Russian military officer, an American farmer and an unemployed New Zealander named Phillip Ure.

The Russian throws first: 85 metres, just short of the world record.

Interviewed after the event he said, “My grandfather was in the military, my father was in the military and I am in the military. This gives me strength and discipline.”

Then the American throws: 88 metres, breaking the world record.

Interviewed after the event he said, “My grandfather was a farmer, my father was a farmer and I am a farmer. This gives me strength and discipline.”

The New Zealander saunters up to the nets, sneers at the TV cameras and slings the hammer 95 metres, breaking the world record and winning gold for the Kiwis.

When interviewed after the event Mr Ure said, “My grandfather was unemployed, my father was unemployed and both said to me, ‘If anyone ever puts a hammer in your hand, throw it as far as you fucking can’.”

The pirates have jumped well over the 5% threshold in the last 4 state elections in a row and have entered 4 state parliaments. (Berlin, Saarland, Schleswig-Holstein, North Rhine-Westphalia)

It will be interesting to see what happens in federal election next year.
