The Superior Court of Justice ruled this week that a man accused of having sex with three 12-year-olds could not be convicted of rape because of extenuating circumstances, including the fact the girls had previously worked as prostitutes.

Tthe latest One/Colmar poll suggests the wider electorate is largely unmoved by the political bubble ructions.

I checked with an ordinary person what they thought – vaguely aware of National hiccups, they think Labour (and Greens) are always moaning, and are far more interested in things happening in their everyday lives. People on politics – yawn.

Labour seem to have been trying hard out to destroy Government. Apart from most people hardly noticing, this does not present as a party capable of being successful in government themselves.

More draconian stuff from Governments hell-bent on more control:

Internet activity ‘to be monitored’ under new UK laws

Ministers are preparing a major expansion of the Government’s powers to monitor the email exchanges and website visits of every person in the UK, it was reported today.

Under legislation expected in next month’s Queen’s Speech, internet companies will be instructed to install hardware enabling GCHQ – the Government’s electronic “listening” agency – to examine “on demand” any phone call made, text message and email sent, and website accessed in “real time”, The Sunday Times reported.

A previous attempt to introduce a similar law was abandoned by the former Labour government in 2006 in the face of fierce opposition.

However ministers believe it is essential that the police and security services have access to such communications data in order to tackle terrorism and protect the public.

Krazykiwi- I have no issue with such measures. ‘Big Brother’ would unlikely be interested in a discussion between the wife and I about what I am cooking for dinner, or whether I fed the cat before work…I think you will find they are aimed at potential terrorist activity, and with Britain’s massive Muslim population I don’t think you can be too careful….

Of special interest will be this extract: “Recorded crime has dropped to its lowest level in 15 years, police figures show. According to police there were 20,289 fewer offences recorded in 2011 than during the previous calendar year, a decrease of 4.8 percent, with 406,056 offences recorded between January 1 and December 31. After taking into account the 0.8 percent rise in New Zealand’s resident population over the same period, the fall in the crime rate for 2011 is 5.6 percent”.

Whilst this may not fit the political agenda of some, the facts don’t lie….

These sort of statistics are almost useless, who knows how the measurement metrics have changed over the years, because the intention in producing these results is not to illuminate but to obfuscate, generally speaking.

Interesting video showing Lionel Ritchie and Shania Twain re-recording his classic duet, ‘Endless Love’ for Lionel’s new duets album with country stars. It seems Shania had to get past this thing of not thinking her voice was strong enough any more after not having sung for a long while and being out of the spotlight, but Lionel helps her overcome that. Regarding Phil and his lies about where he “works” on his blog…the fraud investigators will no doubt be interested in the posts regarding his vegan cats…one of which was apparently “curled up around the monitor as I type…” and another was sleeping on his feet…Do libraries allow one to bring one’s cats these days? I know they are not silent citadels any more, but I didnt think they had got that loose…

And does Phil “walk” his cats to the said library or drive? I guess with vegan cats anything is possible…

This is getting a bit boring now however, last word from me on the subject.
Please try and get this little mikenmild.

Not every short man has a shortarse complex.

There are some very big men who are not very tall.
The complex is revealed in your spoken word and your demeanour.

Take this to the bank mate.

You, and Scott Chris, and philu all have the complex.

The good news is that it is not incurable.
As with all psycological issues the first step to recovery is self awareness.
That is also the second step, and the third step.

Once you have the self awareness to accept that you have the problem and recognise where it came from, then
just like magic, you are cured. It goes away.

With regard to philu
what we see now taking place before our very eyes is what is often referred to as a breakdown.

this happens when philu is forced to confront reality (the problemof course is caused primarily by his lifelong abuse of drugs)
which causes him to live in a parallell universe where he thinks he knows it all and everyone else is a fuken idiot.

Now he has got an inkling that he has picked the wrong person to go to bat against.

Anyone who may tend to feel sorry for the poor sod need not as it is totally self inflicted and the solution is simple.

This poor sod does have hope though.
It’s in his own hands. Quite simple really.

Hey philu, give away the drugs and get a job. That’s it.
Get it mate ? Q.E.D.
It will feel just as good for you as if you had stopped knocking your head against a brick wall after so many years.

this poor sod is not a drug addict if we can take him at his word.
There is no such thing as addiction to smoking dope.
If you decide you want to stop, you stop. End of story. There is no physical withdrawing at all.
It’s easier than stopping smoking cigarettes

Thing is, is what we all know, but what this poor sod just can’t get yet is that if he did those two things,
which are easily do able then he would never look back. His only regret would then be that he didn’t come to his
senses years ago.
His problem is that his ginourmous ego, which he has grown as a compensation and crutch, cannot let him
accept yet that he is not smarter than everyone else.

He is so smart that he doesn’t need to work.
He is so smart that he can advise everyone else where they have gone wrong. But he can’t help himself.

When this poor sod can develop some humility then he can be cured
It could be like night turning into day.
But the major problem he has is that he is so smart that he wont be able to reach out for help. The ego he has
grown to help him compensate wont let him.
This type of poor sod has to wake up and do it for himself.

I’ve arrived home and have immediately started my “real” job of getting dinner started, helping my son with his homework, ya know the normal parenting duties… As I am an older single parent with a young dependent, this meant after school care for him. He survived it, strangely enough… (see Phil, part of good parenting is to encourage independence, so they don’t remain stuck to the tit, so to speak.)

I find it obscene that anyone capable of working refuses to work while many single parents like myself, support the likes of Phil. To those who think this is harsh? Again, feel free to subsidize his lifestyle with your tax dollar. I’m sick off him sucking on my tit.

And all joking aside, isn’t that just the point? You Wahine have been at your job at ……….. for 8 hours…Between playing with this clown I have been doing chargeable hours…bereal and other commenters have been doing their honest toil…You and I at least (can’t speak for anyone else) now move into our “other” jobs…the dinner, the homework, the bed time stories…

Even if Phool does cook for his unfortunate son, he thinks that alone justifies sucking off the rest of us…because of course he is such a superior being…

the whole convention centre/pokie machine deal sucks for a variety of reasons..

..first:..convention centres worldwide lose money/cost money to run..

..(guess who will pick up that bill..?..)

..and pokie machines are ‘vampire-sucking-squids’ on society..

..hurting mainly the poor…

..and they just suck enormous amounts of money out of society..

..which is all sent off-shore..

..i’d ban them…

..leave a high-end casino for those rich enough to throw their money away..

..but we should do what those northland towns/pubs have done..

..and throw out the pokies..

..2nd option is to nationalise the gambling industry…

..so all the profits stay here…feed all the income back into the community….not offshore..

..either works for me..

..and yes..i wd really like to see the list of those current-affairs hosts/journos etc..

..that are owned/paid-off by the casino..
