Slight problem – megaupload was no more illegal than youtube. They would always promptly remove any file if notified by the copyright holder. The object of the arrest is to intimidate other file sharing sites. They chose him, because his past brushes with the law would make him seem guilty till proven innocent in the eyes of the general public.

Probably not the sort to be given residence to maybe but has he done anything wrong that would warrant an extradition.?

Probably not Paul and almost certainly he has added a fair dollop of cash to the NZ market place. But that still didn’t stop the Nazi’s confiscating lots of money bonds, cars etc.
Hope he gets the best QC’s in town and wallops the cop’s responsible for this.

One is left with the wondering if these confiscations are to stop him from defending himself.

Next question is why NZ.
Time we did what Clark did and told the yanks to fuck off.
But McCully won’t. He and his ilk in the Nats. will continue to crawl slowly up the Yanks arse. as always.

Yep, he’s no choir boy and I question his permanent residency but there are way to many gray areas to be carting him off to a federal trail.

In the UK Telegraph one guy just posted he has lots of legal data stored with megaupload and it appears he’s lost the lot.

And when you get Hollywood threatening the POTUS that funds will be withdrwan for campaigns unless more is done to pass some legislation its all getting a wee bit worrisome.

He may have lost access to that copy but surely he hasn’t lost the lot. He must have copied the uploads from somewhere. So he kept a copy, right?

Ye, plenty of stuff stored on clouds these days. The site is a possession of the owner. In the Land of the Free etc (you know Yankee land, where they fought for their freedom in the American Wars), apparently now nobody owns anything unless the FBI say they can.
Even the assets accumulated with actual real life drug dealing cannot betaken without a court trial. Not the case here and I would reckon the Judge and the Police have got that wrong. Any decent Lawyer should be up to the Judge and demand the assets back. Not proceeds of any NZ crime if their case is about a website hosted somewhere else.

So, I’m just about to process my wages for the week. All done on the “cloud”. If say my provider doesn’t pay the Taxman as provided in the service agreement will that allow the police(acting for IRD), to close the site with all my wage information on?
Ditto and worse for our accounting which is on another “cloud”.
And in doing so what are the restrictions on other peoples data.

The yuans are flowing into the Auckland public relations companies again.

As touched on by Viking2 earlier, Fran O’Sullivan in the NZ Hooerald today pumps up support for John Ki to approve the second bid fromn communist China to buy the Crafar dairy farms in NZ. The rag supported the first Chinese bid, too, as claims of “racism” were fired by hacks and senior politicians when anyone questioned the credentials of the buyers, now facing court charges in Hong Kong.

The Chinese understand the power of public relations in the West, and must chuckle at the incredibly easy access of PR to NZ’s mainstream media.

So do John Ki and the army of PR roaches who swarm around Parliament Buildings. That’s why they are going to use the Hooerald to hypnotise voters over the coming asset sales. Treasury sent top PR firms a notice on December 15 asking for interest in helping to sell the “extension of the mixed ownership mode”’.

The marketing blog Stop Press reports the account is split into three parts, with Treasury looking for “one or a number of service providers to provide marketing services, design services and communications services”. Stop Press reckons the Government will spend as much as $2.5 million for PR on each of the court big state assets to be sold – Mighty River, Meridian, Genesis, Solid Energy.

Given how easily the PR teams for Red China win over MSM support for buying NZ land, the Government could slash the $2.5m to $250,000 in each case.

PS: it’s interesting how the Beijing PR lobby is selling the line that NZ must allow land sales to China under the free trade agreement, but doesn’t explain how this doesn’t apply the other way round. NZ’ers cannot buy land in China, full bloody stop.

PPS: The Beijing PR lobby is active in the comments site of the Hooerald. It will be interesting to see if new commentators suddenly pop up in this thread. And I’m not talking about Viking2’s cheering of O’Sullivan’s criticism of Fay and Co.

I have to say I’m enjoying the emerging trends in free education. With University education costs rising every year, without a commensurate rise in value (either of the material or the resulting qualification), I’m enjoying the iTunesU app/service from Apple. Basically it gives you access to undergraduate papers at top Universities such as Stanford and Harvard (sans course credit/feedback on assignments), for free. You get all lecture videos and downloaded course material, for nothing.
I’m currently “enrolled” in a Java programming fundamentals paper with Stanford – much cheaper than shelling out $1.5 to $2k at Massey, which often has inferior materials and/or lecturers. There’s no actual qualification at the end, but that’s less important to me than learning the material.

There isnt a huge selection of courses yet. Theres a tonne of lectures etc. but not so many full courses.

i just selected a course on the emergence of china. looks a bit meh but ill give it a go.

theres a beast of a course on the american revolution. 26 lectures. i think ill do that next.

But, Paul, this is the beginning of Universal Education and it will become the norm very soon. The best tutors will be recording the stuff and file sharing all around the world to schools and all manner of institututions.
Early last year I went to a home where the Lady was teaching Physio therapy to people in England and on the continent. Had all the usual tests etc. Only issue was the slow Broadband.
Dr’s are sharing all the time. Teachers and Uni’s will be a changing big time. Just like the music and entertainment industry has too.

Knowledge is now forever in a universal market.(well will be if the good ol USA doesn’t shut it all down).
And many employers and individuals actually don’t need a fancy printed paper to do what they have learned. Plenty of poor quality students with bits of paper.
So there ya go, it will come back to proper employment procedures. i.e. question what people know and can do rather than bothering about some physco test that they can now alll evade.

Police today continue their search of ‘Dotcom Mansion’, where three out of four alleged Internet pirates were arrested.

The four men arrested yesterday in a joint US and New Zealand operation include one from Germany who renamed himself Kim Dotcom, and lived at the house.

Among the assets seized here so far are 18 luxury cars worth 6 million dollars, ten million dollars in cash and expensive art.

Police have also recovered two sawn-off shotguns.

I suspect O’Sullivan’s lack of sympathy for Fay might be a reflection of what she observed and wrote of his business activities in the 80s and 90s and some possible perceptions of inconsistancy with his current protestations about what’s good for NZ. She’s right too; given the Chinese bid, he wants it at less than market and he wants the creditors to pay for the discount. Why should that happen?

They should be in the Democrat Party. It won’t matter whether Obama wins a second term or whether Romney or Gingrich takes office. They disgust me equally.

It was their 50th wedding anniversary and the elderly couple, in their
70’s, decided to relive the honeymoon . When they arrived at the hotel
where they had stayed that first night they found the lobby full of people.

They made their way up to the desk and were informed that there was a
convention in town. Luckily they had made a reservation in advance
requesting the same room. They went up to the room, unpacked, then went
down into the dining room and had a fine meal, ordering the same food and

before, ordered champagne from room service. As they were preparing for bed

You stood by the door, I stood over by the window, and we ran to each other
and I jumped up right into your arms.”

“How can I forget,” he said, “you looked so beautiful.”

“Let’s do it that way again.”

“No way,” he said, “we’re to old for that foolishness now,”

“Nonsense.” she replied, backing up to the door.

“O.K.” he said, “why not?” They took off all their clothes, she hollered go,
and they ran at each other. and missed. She hit the door with a bang, and
he went flying out the window. As luck would have it, the room was only on
the second floor and the old man landed in a skip full of cardboard
boxes. He was shaken up a bit, but unhurt. He began looking around to see
what he could find to cover himself with. There was nothing.
Just then a porter came around the corner. He called him over and asked
him to get a robe or a towel, anything so he could get back to his room.

The porter said, ‘Come with me now and I’ll take you through the lobby.”

“The lobby!” he said, “It’s crowded with people and I’m naked.”

“No problem,” said the porter, there’s no one in the lobby. If we hurry no
one will see you.”

The old man said, “Where did all the people go?”

The porter answered, “Oh, they’re all up on the second floor watching the
hotel doctor trying to pry some old lady off a doorknob

Noam Chomsky is a very prominent and controversial cultural figure. His ideas can be seen underpinning much of the political debate, even here in New Zealand.

This is one of his gems.

Well, i can claim the same, but how do you discern whether unfolding events are the result of a “god’s” plan, or the machinations of biblical fundamentalists? Muslim, Zionist and Christian fundamentalists all think that they are destined to rule the world. Naturally this is going to lead to endless war in the middle east. The secular explanation makes just as much sense as the Biblical one, so how to chose? Why assume that the Bible has it right?

All I can say Wetfoot is that if you think what is happening is based on secular events with lusts generated by mere human influence then you haven’t even reached first base in fact you haven’t even stepped up to bat, in terms of your understanding of what you were asking on the other thread.

This is not God’s world this is Satan’s and the people who are implementing Satan’s plan are in power right now, they have been for centuries and they are proceeding apace as anyone with eyes to see and ears to hear, will understand. If you want to know who these people are then start by googling “black nobility” and take it from there. Now if you have no understanding of this at all and you leap right into who is who in the black nobility, I can tell you right now your cognitive dissonance alarm bells will start clanging so loudly it’ll probably hurt your ears. But if you are genuine in wanting to understand then its a good start. But I sense you’re not even religious and if you don’t understand that both Satan and God are real and they operate today, all the time, then like I said, you’ll never get anywhere. BTW, don’t bother with the wiki link to the Black Nobility but hopefully you already knew that.

BTW, black nobility is not the end of the inquiry, it’s a mere preface to this topic and a proper understanding of who and what is happening will take you years of study, but if you are genuinely interested then off the top of my head that’s possibly something someone with your level of understanding could start with. Although I doubt those sites mention it, bear in mind the US leadership also have deep connections with many of these families, as well.

Unfortunately I get the impression you’re one of these people who is still living in the realm of life happens on the surface and things are pretty much as they appear. For example if your conservative then maybe you think that there pretty much was evidence of WMD in Iraq or if you’re a lefty (which I think you are) that Obama really is trying to do a good job with the US economy it’s just the bankers are tying his hands. It’s unfortunate (for you, not for me) if you do think this sort of thing because unless and until one drops such childish fantasies from one’s realm of understanding, one never gets anywhere with this topic, hence when the axe falls and believe me, it’s going to happen very soon, if not within a few years then definitely in our lifetimes, one will never get it.

If you want the biblical origin of these people, then read the Book of Esther and consider the story of Lot and what sort of person he was and what happened to the child his daughter bore when they slept with their father. I think I’m probably wasting my breath, most people snort with derision with this stuff – all that cognitive dissonance you see. Not that I care, but if you really do want understanding, those leads should help. Happy to answer questions, but only after you’ve read that material. I’m not interested in helping people who can’t be arsed helping themselves.

Thanks reid – will follow that up. I’ve seen enough evidence to convince me that Satanism is a very strong force in the US (i.e. the investigations of elite Satanic pedophile rings that are invariably quashed at the highest level). You’re right that i’m not religious, but i’m very interested in spirituality, so i’m definitely not an atheist. The Semitic religious traditions aren’t the only ones though, you know. Are you really one of those people who think that Buddhism and the various Hindu sects are Satanic? That seems a bit simplistic if you ask me.

Why the heck do you think I think that, Wetfoot? What did I say above or on the other thread that could possibly be interpreted as anything at all like that? I really hate it, and it happens sometimes in 911 debates, when people put their own spin on the words I have typed.

Please don’t do that to me again. For the record, no, of course I don’t think those particular religions are satanic. Why the fuck would I?

to continue … The reason i asked that question is fairly simple. Most Buddhists and Hindus also think that we’re living in a degenerate age, and this was predicted in Hinduism thousands of years ago. They call it the age of Kali. Many Buddhists predicted an age of declining Dharma some 2,000 years ago as well. My question is, why pick the christian interpretation of events over the other religions?

Because the Bible explains it – at least the King James and the Geneva translations do, the other translations have been subtly changed over the years so I don’t use them. I haven’t bothered to look into others, since the Bible explains it. If you want to look at Esther BTW, see BlueLetterBible.org – that has most translations, apart from the Geneva I think.

I get sick of people and I’m not suggesting you’re one of them but I do get sick of people presuming to know how I think because I tell them I am a Christian. It seems to trigger this fantasy in their head which THEY have built up that Christians think x, y and z and therefore I think that as well. It’s extremely insulting and mind-bogglingly ignorant of them but nevertheless they do it quite a lot. They’re idiots. Suffice to say, they or you have no idea how I think and you won’t find out how I think by reading denominational doctrinaire either, because it’s not in there. I’m not going to discuss my religion with you, BTW, so don’t bother pursuing that line, not just because you’re not entitled to know, but because my beliefs are irrelevant to the topic under discussion.

What is happening in the world today is not my theory, it is not my opinion, it is simple fact which I didn’t invent and which I didn’t create. It is easily interpreted from the artifacts available to the discerning and that’s it, period. So concentrate on those artifacts and don’t ask me for my opinions about irrelevant issues like what other religions say about it.
