Darien went to her doctor for advice. She told the physician that her husband had developed a penchant for anal sex, and she wasn’t sure it was such a good idea.

The Doctor asked, “Do you enjoy it?” Darien said that she did. He asked, “Does it hurt you?” She said no. The Doctor then told her, “Well, then, there’s no reason that you shouldn’t practice anal sex, if that’s what you like, so long as you take care not to get pregnant.”

Darien was mystified. She asked, “You can get pregnant from anal sex?” The Doctor replied, “Of course. Where do you think John Banks come from?”

A man had two of the best tickets for the Rugby World Cup Final. As he sits down, another man comes along and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next to him..

“No”, he says, “the seat is empty.”

“This is incredible!” said the man, “who in their right mind would have a seat like this for the Cup Final, the biggest sporting event of the New Zealand rugby calender and not use it?”

He says, “Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first home game for the All Blacks we haven’t been to together since we got married.”

“Oh… I’m sorry to hear that. That’s terrible. I guess you couldn’t find someone else, a friend or relative or even a neighbour to take the seat?

“The man shakes his head… ……”No. They’re all at the funeral.”

Taking his seat in his plush Epsom office, ACT MP John Banks faced the opposing lobbyists. “So,” he said, “I have been presented, by both of you, with a bribe.”

Both lobbyists squirmed uncomfortably. “You, Bishop Jones, gave me $15,000. And you, Porn King Steve Crowe, gave me $10,000.”

John Banks reached into his pocket and pulled out a wad of cash. He handed it to the Bishop. “Now then, I’m returning $5,000, and we’re going to decide this legislation solely on its merits.”

Elaycee parked her brand-new Lexus in front of her office, ready to show it off to her colleagues. As she got out, a truck passed too close and tore off the door on the driver’s side. Elaycee immediately grabbed her cell phone, dialed 111, and within minutes a policeman pulled up.

Before the officer had a chance to ask any questions, Elaycee started screaming hysterically that her Lexus, which she had just picked up the day before, was now completely ruined no matter what the body shop did to it. When Elaycee finally calmed down from her ranting and raving, the officer shook his head in disgust and disbelief.

“I can not believe how materialistic you are,” the cop said. “Haven’t you even noticed that your left arm is missing from the elbow down? It must have been torn off when the truck hit you.”

“My God!” screamed Elaycee. “My Rolex!”

No one did, till you raised the subject, in a way designed to be provocative, and to prod people into responding.

If you hadn’t dangled the bait, I doubt anyone here would’ve noticed the case, let alone complained about it.

Weihana didn’t say he was innocent or should be let off. (I have no opinion on the case at all).
.Just that your moral outrage and indignation over a case that has nothing to do with you (or anyone but the parties involved) suggest you take pleasure in people being punished.

A magician worked on a cruise ship. The audience was different each week, so the magician did the same tricks over and over again.

There was one problem. The captain’s parrot saw the shows each week and began to understand how the magician did every trick. Once he understood, he started shouting in the middle of the show “Look, it’s not the same hat!” or, “Look, he’s hiding the flowers under the table,” or “Hey, why are all the cards the ace of spades?”

The magician was furious, but couldn’t do anything. It was, after all, the captain’s parrot. Then the ship sank. The magician found himself on a piece of wood in the middle of the sea with, as fate would have it, the parrot.

They stared at each other with hatred, but did not utter a word. This went on for a day and then another and then another.

Finally on the fourth day, the parrot could not hold back and said,

“OK, I give up. Where’s the f*cking ship?”

So celebrity [read non-Murdoch media] pressure on politicians, who are almost certainly being given a pretty good ride by Murdoch. Oh dear. Which way to turn.

He’s a very clever man with powerful tools at his disposal is Rupert. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him contain the US contamination by trying to get the next US President elected and just quietly let it all die away.

He’s a family man as well so he won’t want to see James inside but Rebekah’s not family, unfortunately for her.

I normally watch how I talk to others as well Lee, unless I somehow learn they are Pwogwessive, and then I literally lose it and simply go nuts. I just can’t help it.

Am I a bad person?

@Mary Rose – as you may realise, I hold firm to the rule of Law. If I break a Law (speeding is my ‘crime’ in this regard), then I accept I have broken the Law and I accept the consequences. Others clearly hold the view that, because they believe the Law is wrong, they then bleat about any consequences, still break the law personally and support those who continue to break it.

Must admit, I take a dim view when a cretin says this about me (“You on the other hand obviously have no concern for the welfare of children and are just an asshole who takes pleasure in the misery of others.”).

All fathers take considerable care of their kids whilst they grew up and the assertion that I have no concern for the welfare of children is wide of the mark. Indeed, I openly support charities who provide key services for our kids (especially Starship). Being referred to as an asshole is no problem – but if the comment came from someone close or someone I rate, I’d think it over. But for the cretin to then suggest I’m “someone who takes pleasure in the misery of others”, winds things up another notch again. Weihana is apparently a student and whilst this does not qualify or mitigate the remarks made, the comments were personal as well as lacking in veracity.

Finally, MaryRose – your comment: “Just that your moral outrage and indignation over a case that has nothing to do with you (or anyone but the parties involved) suggest you take pleasure in people being punished.” is also wide of the mark. Moral outrage and indignation? Not at all – I SUPPORT the fact that this offender was arrested because he had broken the Law in Indonesia. Had he not chosen to break the Law, he’d still be on holiday. His bad choices has got him into trouble – not the Law itself.

Now he has to accept the consequences of his bad choices. Just like any other law breaker.

I realise that.
I meant you were getting indignant in anticipation of ‘bleeding hearts’ wading into the case, when no one had done so and no one on this thread would probably have mentioned the case at all if you hadn’t.
Aussie kid in Indonesia is a bit of a ‘so what?’ to me.

It seemed to me (rightly or wrongly) that by starting you original post with: “Surprising that the bleeding hearts haven’t emerged (yet) this morning,” you were looking for someone to argue back. Then didn’t like it when Weihana did.

Not that I condone (or ever use) personal abuse. Name-calling is the first sign someone’s losing the argument.

Sure. But you’d have to be ignorant or stupid to try to buy drugs there.
And while ignorance/stupidity are no defence in law, it makes him an idiot who will learn a very hard lesson, rather than a hardened criminal anyone else needs to condemn.

@Mary Rose – I take your points. FYI – I have no problem with debating issues and this instance in Bali is just the latest example of Law and Order issues that have been bounced around on this blog.

Some on this blog lack the required courage to accept responsibility for their actions. However, as a proponent of Law and Order, I despair what would happen if we all chose to break Laws that we didn’t particularly like. Because that would be anarchy.

For me this issue was simply posting a link to another example of someone not wanting to accept the consequences of his actions and literally crying because he was caught. When a moron chimed in and resorted to ad homs to try and support his liberalisation position, I responded in kind.

Agree that this person in Bali will (most likely) pay a price for his actions, but I have no sympathy for him – after all, he chose to break the Law. Same as I have no sympathy for criminals here – and no sympathy either for idiots who bleat about not being able to travel because they have criminal convictions. If someone breaks the Law, then they need to have the guts to accept the consequences. Self. Inflicted. Consequences.
