The US Embassy hosted a few “social media” types for dinner last night at the Ambassador’s residence in Lower Hutt. The Embassy is one of most social media proficient missions , having its own Ambassador’s Blog, Facebook page, Twitter account and  You Tube channel.

The Ambassador, David Huebner, also has his own twitter account, and yes he actually reads and responds to it himself.

Had great conversation over dinner ranging from the possible 2012 GOP nominees, to Southpark. Was delighted to discover that the Ambassador is an even bigger fan of Southpark than me – I didn’t think it was possible.

The artwork at the residence was superb – a wonderful mixture of US and Kiwi paintings. I told the story of how I once mistook a McCahon painting at Parliament for a notice board, and actually stuck a notice into it. They didn’t let me too near the paintings after that.
