A closer poll

In my Stuff By the numbers blog, I look at the latest Roy Morgan poll which paints a closer race.

I would put more weight on the ‘right direction/wrong direction’ figure than the voting indications.

I sense no mood for a shift in policy to the left, as proposed by Labour. My conclusion is that Labour know they are in for a thrashing and are desperate to stop the last remnants of their supporters defecting to the Greens.

If I have read the dates correctly the TV1 polling dates covered the last 3 days of the (two week) Roy Morgan polling period and the first 3 days after the Roy Morgan period ended. Thus the TV1 poll is later than the Morgan poll, irrespective of the dates when they were first released.
Does this change your view of the results in any way?

I believe you haven’t mentioned an important point. If National loses enough votes to Act then we could be in a position post election in which National can only get a majority with Act and not with the Maori Party. Thus, anyone who really wants a National/Act Government that doesn’t include the Maori Party should be very tempted to vote Act.

The Morgan is not well regarded, irrespective of the result it produces. TV3 and TV1 are more comparable, and Morgan was closer to the TV3 polling dates, was it not?

I was all for National until I came back from Europe.

John Key is a good leader sure, but hey food prices, ridiculous.

Take a trip to Europe some time and see what I mean.

If he does something about knocking those ridiculous prices down, quickly, then I will certainly vote for him.

Some fat cats are getting extremely rich at the expense of the average Kiwi sheep…who just accept it all and go baaaa!

Not me, I won’t vote for any leader who has milk, bread, fish and lamb at such a high price, relatively, IN A FARMING COUNTRY!

Whatever my vote is worth and I won’t even be staying.

It’s the good ol Kiwi saying that replaced “She’ll be right!” from the seventies, “If you don’t like it, then fuck off!”

Thanks I have.

Have a nice time with the Indians and the Chinese while I am gone.

Excellent idea. With comments such as those contained in your post, you have demonstrated beyond a doubt that you haven’t got a clue about global commodity pricing.

Vote National get a National government.
Labour cannot win so any vote other than National could mean a National-ACT government.
Vote Labour get Brash, Vote Green get Brash, Vote Maori get Brash, Vote Mana get Brash.
VOTE NATIONAL AND GET A JOHN KEY LED GOVERNMENT

VOTE NATIONAL AND CONTINUE GETTING SHAFTED BY THE ONE TRICK PONIES – SELL SELL SELL SELL.
Vote Labour in and we get our public debt paid down quicker while we still get to keep our public assets.

how about we have a system that tests our support for policy as well as representation? There are several basic issues such as should we act to curb carbon emissions (ie are you “warmist” or “denier”)? Another basic issue is individual responsibility for children such as should support for children be the same for the third as the second etc.?
What is the ideal population size for NZ?
Should we sell of our hydro stations?
