A kick-ass day in the life of a sort of alcoholic Kiwi writer in Munich.

Woke up, feeling like shit, but remembering the successful patch-up with my gf. The sun is hell on my back but she had not caught me the whole night dropping a full bottle of Schanpps before and while she slept.

It’s BBC on the internet news while she does her farm stealing and I am a little paranoid about my breath, though Schnapps is pretty odourless my instinct tells me to get up and I fix myself a long tomato juice with ice and pepper and while I do it I scull a can of redbull.

“Why do you drink tomato juice today?” she asks as I predicted. I usually drink coffee.

“It’s so hot and I just felt like it.”

It works.

The Redbull wakes me up and I suddenly want to go out.

She takes the usual thirty minutes overtime female get ready time and then we are off.

We run to catch the 1.35 minute train. Trains here run time like most things in Munich.

We go to Odeonplatz and walk around the English gardens, noting the naked gay areas until we find the river surfing area. The water is too low and it looks dangerous but I make a vow to come back in winter and knock off the bitch with multiple cutbacks and re-entrys.

We grab a snack then head to the strong beer festival.

A German friend of mine had recommended it and hey, any excuse to drink in the daytime I had already convinced my Chinese gf.

I had been told the beer was strong and girls liked it as it was sweet.

When we arrived all I was pleased about was the available tables, unlike the Octoberfest which was over-crowded. Plus the warm sun and the trees exploding in the week of spring overhead as with all plants in Munich.

I warned my gf about the strong beer but being a dong-bei she ignored my words and pretty soon we found ourselves sipping at the end of one liter ceramic jug. It is black beer.

I was more stoned than drunk my legs feeling tingly and I really wondered whether they put magic mushrooms in their shit just like I suspected of Kenny Cramps strong cider in Kent.
My gf was off her face, stoned and drunk and I immediately bought her food, German sausage and potato.

Chinese do not have the genes to break down the alcohol.

After one and a half I felt pretty horny and realized the German girls in their traditional ding-dongs were putting their tits out there with no bras.

After I finished two, I knew I was drunk. I would have attempted three but I knew I had to get my gf home by then, very vocal and giggly.

The sun lost it’s warmth as we left and I helped my gf to the train station.

But I knew I would be back.

Wow what a drinking experience.

The Octoberfest sucked for me.

But this was my drinking Heaven.

It was no wonder only certain German friends recommended this.

The Germans, people say they are prim and proper.

Yes they are.

No vomit, no fights, just appreciation of good shit.

I am sold.

At home we were both incredibly horny. As I said more like a drug experience than a drink. We did it like on the discovery channel.

My gf flies out tomorrow morning.

Wish me luck for tomorrow night. I am going for three.

THE DON. Is anyone else as excited as me (sweating in the night) about his bid for Prez 2012? Trumpy has the money, the strength of character and the chuzpah to do it. Can see the campaign slogan now, “Obama…you’re fired!”. This of course might make Sarah Palin or Huck “The Apprentice.” Americans like strong leaders, Trumpy has a clear policy distinctive, a USA-wide brand, and he’s as American as they come. Lots of skleletons, but nothing he can’t face down. Could be VERY interesting. I’d vote for him. he’s just what America needs. Priority 1: he’ll haul in the deficit.

Also, his digging on whether OBama is actually US-born could be very interesting in coming weeks. If Obama has lied (Kenya vs hawaii) he’ll be impeached and Oh dear, Joe B. will be President. Worse than Dan Quayle.

Speaking of which, eating California Quail (my wife is from cali) is like eating sparrows. But isn’t it an example that not all species introductions are bad? I mean, these birds are great and harmless. We’re getting Aussie dung beetles (the Egyptian scarab) soon. All they do is eat dairy cow crap and airate the soil. Isn’t modern life a sum collection of such introductions?

It is not just his birth records that are in question. All sorts of other records haven’t been released either. His family members have given two different hospitals in Hawaii as his birth place so they seem as confused as everyone else. Then his Auntie actually saw him being born in Kenya.
What normal person wouldn’t want to clear all this up?
On another topic..the mass murderer in Brazil was an islamic fundie..Why is this not being mentioned in English language reports?? It is in the Portuguese articles. Brazil has been harbouring all sorts of islamics fundies including
Al Quaeda members and now they have paid the price.

Short Shriveled and Slightly to the Left

Every time there is a big Lotto prize the Dom Post interviews a statistician who is a bore and refuses to ever buy a ticket.
It makes us all look like bores, and I am sick of it 🙂 .

1/ The odds for 1 line to win are almost the same as the return (if won alone) so what is the big deal! If the odds to win were much higher than the prize then the odds being to large argument would be valid.
2/ It has to be won with most of the money being provided by previous weeks (dead money), so the pool return is actually much larger than the value of the tickets that are competing for the prize.
3/ What is wrong with throwing $20 away to be in a draw that someone has to win (basically people are all throwing in some money with one person (or maybe a little more) taking the pool, but in this case another source (the jackpots from previous weeks) is adding handsomely to the pool)

The great Mediaworks beatup
The Herald ran a story yesterday headlined “Your $43m lifeline to TV3 owner: and said:
The Government has thrown a lifeline to ailing private media company MediaWorks, which owns TV3, Four, and about half New Zealand’s commercial radio stations.
MediaWorks’ latest accounts show it has essentially received a $43.3 million loan from the Crown to enable it to renew its radio broadcasting licences for the next 20 years.
This got copied all over the place with people aghast that the Government had lent MediaWorks $43m in some secret deal.
However there was no loan and no secret.
In October 2009 (18 months ago) the Government announced:
“The Government recognises that some licensees may have difficulty paying the one-off lump-sum renewal payments for their 20 year spectrum licenses next year.”
Cabinet has agreed to offer an alternative payment option to the radio broadcasters, provided any change is revenue-neutral to the Crown.
This will allow a series of not more than five annual payments incorporating interest at 9.5 percent, plus inflation.
So in reality it is a simple deferred payment option – broadcasters had the choice of paying for a 20 year licence in one lump sum, or spreading it over five years at a higher cost. This is no different to what often happen in the commercial world – you can spread payments out but pay more for them.
It’s not a lifeline, and it is not a loan. It is a liability but that is a different thing. If at balance date I have not paid a bill, I have a liability my creditor but that does not mean they have lent me money.
And finally the taxpayer made money from Mediaworks with the deferred payment. The interest rate is 11.2% and the government 6% on its debt, so the Government makes a net 5.2% from Mediaworks.
Sadly far too many will have just read the original story, and will remain convinced that the Government bailed out Mediaworks with a loan.
UPDATE: I notice the original story was front page and the story the next day clarifying things was very small and obscure.

This is a question that needs to be asked. The time must surely be fast approaching when others will be asking some very tough questions. Particularly, the international credit ratings agencies and the country’s overseas lenders on the extent of the New Zealand Government’s capacity to keep writing cheques

Why are we still beholden to lying, corrupt credit rating agencies. The three main culprits contributed much to the GFC, giving (selling) AAA ratings to toxic assets that were basically worthless.

WASHINGTON — A Senate panel investigating the causes of the nation’s financial crisis on Thursday unveiled evidence that credit-ratings agencies knowingly gave inflated ratings to complex deals backed by shaky U.S. mortgages in exchange for lucrative fees.

As with the heavyweight financial organisations responsible for the fiasco, they were left unscathed and are back trading exactly as they did before.
The financial services industries around the world are repeatedly screwing up and are repeatedly being bailed out by taxpayers.
The purported Einstein quote comes to mind:

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result

Are our pollies stupid or complicit? Complcit is a scary thought and a point of view difficult to prove or disprove, but one which gathers credibility as each financial disaster comes around and the options taken are questionable at the very least.

If it is simply that they believe these organisations are “too big to fail” then they need to have a major rethink because “too big to fail” will become the business model to strive for from here on.
I don’t know who said“If they are too big to fail they are too big. but a truer word has never been spoken.

So the insurer that made the most desparate and disparaging remarks about AMI is also the one that seemingly is refusing to support its own policy holders using subterfuge buried in its policies. Not unlike it self and its competitors in Queensland.

At an EPA hearing last summer, representatives from Koch Industries argued that moderate levels of the toxic chemical dioxin should not be designated as a cancer risk for humans.

The Center for Public Integrity sought comment from Koch Industries a dozen times during the course of its investigation of Koch’s lobbying network.

Greenhouse cash

When members of Congress sought higher security at chemical plants to guard against terrorist attacks, Koch Industries lobbyists prowled Capitol Hill to voice their opposition.

And when Congress moved to strengthen regulation of the financial markets after recent collapses, Koch Industries — a major commodities and derivatives trader — deployed a phalanx of lobbyists to resist proposed changes.

Charles and David Koch, the owners of the country’s second-largest private corporation, are libertarians of long standing, who contend that government regulations, taxes and subsidies stifle individual initiative and hamper American competitiveness. In recent years, the Kochs have played an increasingly public role as financial angels for conservative causes, politicians and foundations

What’s not so well-known is the activity of Koch Industries in the trenches in Washington, where a Center for Public Integrity examination of lobbying disclosure files and federal regulatory records reveals a lobbying steamroller for the company’s interests, at times in conflict with its public pose.

The money that Koch (pronounced “coke”) has spent on lobbying in Washington has soared in recent years, from $857,000 in 2004 to $20 million in 2008. The Kochs then spent another $20.5 million over the next two years to influence federal policy, as the company’s lobbyists and officials sought to mold, gut or kill more than 100 prospective bills or regulations.

Oil is the core of the Koch business empire, and the company’s lobbyists and officials have successfully fought to preserve the industry’s tax breaks and credits, and to defeat attempts by Congress to regulate greenhouse gases.

But Koch’s diversified interests, and thus its lobbying activities, extend far beyond petroleum. Koch companies trade carbon emission credits in Europe and derivatives in the U.S. They make jet fuel in Alaska from North Slope oil, and gasoline in Minnesota from the oil sands of Canada. They raise cattle in Montana and manufacture spandex in China, ethanol in Iowa, fertilizer in Trinidad, nylon in Holland, napkins in France and toilet paper in Wisconsin.

According to the most recent Forbes magazine rankings, Koch had $100 billion in revenues in 2009 — on a par with corporate giants like IBM or Verizon — and stood a close second to Cargill Inc. on the list of the largest private US companies. The firm has 70,000 employees, and a presence in 60 countries and almost every state.

Koch’s decision to pour millions into lobbying Washington has put them high on the list of corporations whose lobbyists work the corridors of the nation’s capital. Last year, Koch Industries ranked in the top five — roughly on a par with BP and Royal Dutch Shell — in lobbying expenses among oil and gas companies, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

These totals do not include the work of the trade associations that Koch uses to represent its interests in Washington. There’s a major industry group called the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association, and obscure organizations like the green-sounding National Environmental Development Association’s Clean Air Project, whose membership lists Koch and two of its subsidiaries (Georgia-Pacific and Invista) with a dozen industrial giants like ExxonMobil Corp., General Electric Co. and Alcoa Inc.

Koch’s lobbyists are known on Capitol Hill for maintaining a low profile. There are no former U.S. senators or House committee chairmen on the payroll. The firm had 30 registered lobbyists in 2010, many of whom are Washington insiders with previous experience as congressional staffers or federal agency employees.

Why doesn’t New Zealand, ‘perceived’ to be the least corrupt country in the world (together with Singapore and Denmark) according to the 2010 Transparency International ‘Corruption Perception Index’ already have a NZ ‘Register of Lobbyists’?

Or – maybe in New Zealand – you don’t need to bother with lobbyists?

Just front up to Prime Minister John Key yourself at a social function, and have a quick word?

(Saves money on Parliamentary staff, typing up the meeting minutes and reports, no need to book a room for a meeting.. that sort of thing………… 🙂

The truth is that there are over 300,000 millionaires in China and this is the market Harcourts and the InterNational Party are tapping into. These policies benefit developers, property investors, Banks lawyers, architects but leave other sections of our society in the dust.

Immigration and tax breaks for investment in residential property are being cited as the underlying causes of steep increases in the cost of housing over the past decade.

I had to go to Al Arabiya to find out that he was a convert to Islam, that the letter said that Islam was the true religion and that the letter glorified terrorism and suicide bombings.

cha, no. What I’m pointing out is that the media is afraid to criticize Islam. Maybe they’re afraid of another violent incident. The media are being held hostage by Islam – won’t be critical of it – much like Obama. The article in the Herald mentions ‘God’, and that the shooter’s parents were Jehovah’s Witness and that he grew up with that, but it makes no mention of his conversion to Islam. The media would rather people connect it with the Christian God or some other cult – anything apart from Islam.

Do you think that’s fair? I don’t think it’s bigoted to point it out, no more than you or viking2 or some of the other commenters feel the need to point out and criticize anything to do with Christianity

IV. Method

Architects & Engineers for 911 Truth focuses solely on the forensic evidence available to prove that the three World Trade Center buildings were demolished as a means of proving to Congress that a new and independent investigation is warranted.

We also want to explain the evidence to the public at large. We believe that turning the tide of public opinion is the most powerful way to convince Congress to pursue a new investigation.

V. Founder

Richard Gage, AIA, is a San Francisco Bay Area architect and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

He has been an architect for over 23 years and has worked on most types of building construction, including numerous fire-proofed, steel-framed buildings.

Most recently, he worked on the construction documents for a $400M mixed-use urban project with 1.2 million square feet of retail, a parking structure, and 320,000 square feet of mid-rise office space—altogether with about 1,200 tons of steel framing.

Mr. Gage became interested in researching the destruction of the WTC high-rises after hearing on the radio the startling conclusions of reluctant 9/11 researcher David Ray Griffin in 2006, which launched his own unyielding quest for the truth about 9/11. As seen in this revealing photo, the Twin Towers’ destruction exhibited all of the characteristics of destruction by explosives:

1. Destruction proceeds through the path of greatest resistance at nearly free-fall acceleration
2. Improbable symmetry of debris distribution
3. Extremely rapid onset of destruction
4. Over 100 first responders reported explosions and flashes
5. Multi-ton steel sections ejected laterally
6. Mid-air pulverization of 90,000 tons of concrete & metal decking
7. Massive volume of expanding pyroclastic-like clouds
8. 1200-foot-diameter debris field: no “pancaked” floors found
9. Isolated explosive ejections 20–40 stories below demolition front

2. Sounds of explosions at ground floor – a second before the building’s destruction

3. Symmetrical “structural failure” – through the path of greatest resistance – at free-fall acceleration

4. Imploded, collapsing completely, and landed in its own footprint

5. Massive volume of expanding pyroclastic dust clouds

6. Expert corroboration from the top European controlled demolition professional

7. Foreknowledge of “collapse” by media, NYPD, FDNY

In the the aftermath of WTC7’s destruction, strong evidence of demolition using incendary devices was discovered:

See my observation joana is that it’s those who conflate all of Islam with people who do these things and secondly conflate their proclamation that in fact its Islam that MAKES them do these things with the clear and evident truth of how the vast vast vast majority of Muslims behave.

See if what people like you and Fletch say was in fact the case, then the world would be overrun with nothing but terrorist-related theats left, right and centre, 24/7/365. Actually, we conduct commerce and normal trade and communications and all the usual things one does when one isn’t at a state of war. This is the case, is it not.

This to me, IMO, gives cause to believe your hypothesis is flawed, in that it doesn’t reflect observable reality.

Rather, my hypothesis, which is that the people and there are a few million of them let’s say around 20 million which includes all of those overt and covert who support and practice terrorism, are in fact doing so for other, various reasons none of which includes Islam. Possibly a small fraction of useful idiots believes they really are dying for Allah but the majority of them are just cynical pricks from amongst the lamentable and large catalogue of the worst possible kind of humanity.

Now observable fact one, to me, is that 20,000,000/1,000,000,000 is a small fraction = 2% and I think last count we had more than one billion Muslims but who cares, lets keep the math easy.

So apparently, only 2% are overtly or covertly participating. This is like saying all Maori think like Hone and Tama Iti and Annette Sykes and Mike Smith and clearly, evidentially, in the real world, they don’t, do they.

This is my problem with your argument joana which you and many many others raise. What I fear is you will create a self-fulfilling prophecy and so far, the MSM’s angles they push and those many black holes of alternative perspectives which they don’t cover, don’t fill me full of confidence that this isn’t the precise plan. And if my hypothesis is correct and yours is wrong, this means that you are the useful idiot, and not I.

Let’s wait and see. I remain as always joana and Fletch open to persuasion that my position is in fact completely mental as I hope you and others also remain open to a similar potential with respect to your positions.

Key changes tack over meeting with broadcaster

Prime Minister John Key has done an about-face after denying he had a discussion with MediaWorks bosses before the Government decided to give the company a $43.3 million helping hand.

He has now admitted meeting then-MediaWorks boss Brent Impey two months before, when Mr Impey pressed his case for a scheme the Government initially turned down. The scheme, announced in October 2009, allowed radio companies to spread payments on 20-year broadcasting licences over five years, instead of one lump-sum payment.

On Monday, in answer to written parliamentary questions, Mr Key said he had not had any discussions with MediaWorks, which owns TV3 and a network of radio stations. But on Wednesday, he issued a correction, saying he “ran into Brent Impey at a social event [in August] where he briefly raised the issue”.

Of greater concern to you should be the reputed case being researched quietly for Tuhoe, who never signed the ambiguous 1840 Treaty but another document which in English DOES grant them tino rangatiratanga, self-governorship – a case that is said will in the next few years go all the way to the Supreme Court, with implications entirely greater than anything the City of London Corporation or Israel Lobby have in mind for New Zealand. The Privy Council was the heart-strand, the only one which was out of influence and could also kill her and more importantly, her long term plans that continue here for decades to come. It had to go.

The H team is pleased to hear there will be imminent consideration by the Geographic Place Names board – Ngä Pou Taunaha o Aotearoa — of the names, the “South Island” and the “North Island”. These are just, plain boring. Te Wai Pounamu will be a mouthful for South Island, though.If only the Maori had compasses. We could then have just dropped in Maori for these names.

We have the real coup for Maori though. We will introduce an alternative Maori name for the United Nations! We will release this in due course.

In the meantime, the tired old “South Island” and “North Island” should go.For the good of Labour it is fit that this is done under a National Government. It won’t earn National any more National votes, because the Maori Party is now kaputu as the Maori Battalion would say. In fact, a secret hooray for National. These name changes will prove a vote for National is a vote for the Maori Party.

The Place Names Board is a glorious example of socialism and third world resurgence in action. How stupid to think dim ordinary citizens should think the names they have created for geographic features should continue, particularly those of the two main islands of NZ.Only the wise in government have the right to decide geographic names. The commies can be rats, but they have things like this right.

The two Maori names will likely be Te Ika a Maui for the North Island and, as I’ve already mentioned, Te Wai Pounamu for the South Island. The H1 team earnestly hope the board will also rename Stewart Island Te Punga o Te Waka a Maui.

Sadly, Te Reo is threatened as a living language. The number of fulltime speakers continues to fall. But we will have it adopted as the secret working tongue of the United Nations. It will become the lingua franca of the UN. This secret inside track will give Kiwis, especially Maori, inside running for jobs at the UN. We also plan to get Maori techniques and wisdom adopted for settling of koha from riff-raff countries to the UN.

Within NZ, thanks to the Geographic Place Names Board, Maori will survive like Ancient Egyptian in place names, even if day-to-day oral use dies. The macron over some letters will stimulate tourist interest in colonial grammar and create work for sign writers and software engineers. However it is critical that all signposts, now wooden, be replaced by carved stone signs. Otherwise Te Reo may rot away with the Pinus radiata.

To reiterate, it gladdens this old socialist heart to hear Maori will reclaim naming rights of NZ’s main islands. It’s certainly time we stomped on the whitey majority who have had this privilege to themselves and came up with the utilitarian “north” and “south”. It’s a wonder they didnt’ just call Wellington the Centre.

As for the Geographic place names membership. Three of the 10 members are Maori, appropriately higher than the Maori portion of the population. Ngai Tahu, with fewer than 50,000 members on the tribe’s blood register, and perhaps fewer than 40,000, appropriately has the right to an appointee.

H3 has suggested I supply this information.

I was having a nightmare where I found myself nude in bed, and I was looking at a mirror on the ceiling and I discovered that I am a ginger.
Quickly I sat up, found my pants and looked in the pockets to find my driver’s licence photo and it was that same colour, ginger.

Another affront to the taxpayer. If this does not constiute troughing and utter waste of money, what does?

Labour MPs Pete Hodgson and Su’a William Sio are off to Mexico and Panama next week.

They will have meetings with Mexican politicians, before attending the 124th Inter-Parliamentary Assembly in Panama City.
Speaker Lockwood Smith says the trip is a chance to strengthen trade and economic links, and share knowledge on parliamentary best practice. The pair returns on April 20th.

You are still dreaming. To a certain extent I envy you your naivete. Mine was destroyed years ago when I lived in an islamic country. Do you really think you are going to read about every islamic threat in your local rag? Have you any idea just how many islamic threats occur in Aussie? No of course not..and what of the codger in AK who had designs on Sydney’s nuclear plant? Whatever happened to him? Well of course we don’t know..Last I heard he was not in jail but was being allowed to continue his fight with NZ immigration.

Given that I prefer to ‘seek truth from facts’, and ‘presume nothing – check everything’ – I don’t know why the ‘poster’ boyz and grrls appear to have been stunned into silence after reading my very ‘hard-hitting’ and eminently sensible post, calling for a ‘partial rates revolt’ – “NO RATE INCREASE$!” as a key policy in my Howick by-election campaign.

Perhaps those who normally ‘comment’ have had to have a nice cuppa and a lie down, because they are SO upset that they can’t vote for me because they don’t live in the Auckland Council Howick Ward?

So many of you presumably hate RATE INCREASE$ on principle, but you can’t bear to support, or be seen to support the one candidate who is in the best position by far to actually help do something to stop this 4.9% proposed Auckland Council rate increase?

How dumb is THAT? 🙂

It seems that so many of you, haven’t yet learned the secret to being politically effective – which is to work on an ‘issue by issue’ basis, in order to maximise political unity, while agreeing to disagree in a civilised manner on points of difference.

Those of you with some intelligence, who haven’t already, will eventually pick this up this politically VERY HANDY HINT – which I have provided for free (situation normal).
