I have read the original pre-print paper of the author/s, which there is less derivation but more descriptive (ie, less formulas), which indicate to me that their work must have been funded by some institutions for commercial use. I’m always interested in new models, however all similar models (such as the claim above) I have implemented haven’t made me a millionaire yet (toot toot…). It means that they have mixed results. So, I’ll take this latest paper as the same as previous claims.

But I would take such model seriously rather than listen to Ken Ring to predict the market movements.

When John Key got out the begging bowl to appeal to the world for charitanble donations for Christchurch earthquake recovery, I was disturbed that we would be seen as a third world dump.

I did not think that we would be seen as a third world theocracy, and yet, one of the purposes these funds may be applied to is “The promotion of religion”.

It doesn’t tell potential donors that on the website, you need to dig up the trust deed for that.

What gives a secular government in one of the world’s most secular nations the idea that earthquake appeal donations could be spent on promoting religion?

Just one more reason why I confine my charitable donations to truly secular organisations such as Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders.

With the foreshore and seabed now public space and contestable supporters of the maori position wont be able to hide behind weasel words but have to stand up and be counted at specific locations and on bare boned issues such as wahi tapu, tikanga, tipuna and aboriginal title. It will be fun seeing the Green Party supporting Maori claims to Sumner, Piha, or wherever. Go “Met’s” and Catherine.

The law is made by people and based on justice, fairness. It is a moot point whether someone with a Maori ancestor should inherit foreshore and seabed because of an interest in a territory that was part of a tribal collective at the time of colonisation; in this case every inch of new Zealand was part of the territory of a tribal collective . Fiji has this situation: Fijians own the foreshore and seabed; Indian Fijians are second class citizens. If that isn’t racial what is? The Greens are happy for non Maori to be “tauiwi” (foreigner in this land)–until Kingdom come.

Theres a saying in Science – it goes: ‘nature abhors a vacuum’ – ie- nature always tries to balance things out – vacuums are filled, places of high pressure are relieved.

This morning Winston Peters made a very insightful comment. “Now that no-one owns the foreshore and seabed – there will be many efforts to fill the empty space on the ownership papers” (or words to that effect) He also commented that the word ‘Title’ (as in customary title) means exctly that – ‘title’ – an it wont remain for very long as a non tradeable title……..

Unfortunately “peer-reviewed” means nothing in climate science, since it has been shown that a small clique of dishonest alarmists have been “reviewing” each other’s papers and letting them through, whilst blocking papers which contradict their position.
To quote a leaked email from the crook Phil Jones “I can’t see either of these [sceptical] papers being in the next IPCC report. Kevin and I will keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is !”
(the same Phil Jones, incidentally, who told his collaborators to delete emails to avoid the content being made public under the Freedom of Information Act.)

In fact, this incestuousness was something that the statistician Professor Wegman identified and commented on way back when he confirmed that the infamous Hockey Stick chart was completely worthless.

Hence it has fallen instead to people like Steve Mcintyre to painfully work through what these charlatans have been presenting as fact for the past decade and more.

You may, for example, have missed another recent scandal (there are so many) where the duplicity of Eric Steig was exposed. Steig is one of the most well known alarmists and was somehow allowed to be an anonymous peer reviewer of a paper which exposed the worthlessness of his own most well-known work, in which he had claimed to have found the missing Antarctic warming – a fingerprint of anthropogenic global warming which has always embarrassed alarmists by its absence. He did all he could to secretly sabotage the new paper:

The recent scandal brewing for labour brings to mind a visit to New Zealand a few years ago
by Daryl Gates ex police chief of Los Angeles (1978-1992) He was being interviewed on radio
here and the subject of homosexuality came up, Chief Gates made this statement.

“From my experience I can tell you three things about homosexuals. One, the most promiscuous
animal on earth is the male homosexual. Two, the male homosexual has up to a thousand
contacts a year. Three, there is an element amongst male homosexuals who derive their
ultimate gratification from corrupting a youth.”

These days with the rise of Political Correctness such direct comments would be out of line.

I stick by my comments that it just gets worse. I have standards and my thoughts are with the victim. I can only speculate what happened but it does not look good when this is played out in the media. I think it is a shame that a party leader will get taken down for the behaviour of one of his MPs. Yes, Goff missed the 8 ball on this one. He would have looked like a strong leader if he had sacked him before the media knew any details. Now he looks weak and reactionary.

Very good point there Rick. I’m an AGW skeptic, however my argument is always trying to sit where the science is and nothing else. Eg, I can cite a peer review published paper by someone that showed that some consensus methods of the warmists have some doubts in their claims or validity of their models.

The government has expressed concerns that the newly passed foreshore legislation will clog up the courts for years to come.

Minister of Courts Georgina te Heuheu said this morning that the government was “crossing its fingers” that wouldn’t happen but acknowledged the possibility.

NZ First leader promises foreshore fight

If New Zealand First gets back into Parliament at this year’s election it will fight to repeal the new foreshore legislation.

The Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Bill which repeals the Foreshore and Seabed Act and restores to Maori the right to seek customary title to parts of the coastline through the courts or by negotiation with the Government passed into law yesterday by 63 votes to 56.

New Zealand First leader Winston Peters was a minister in the Labour-led coalition government which implemented the 2004 Act.

“This legislation has been enacted solely because of a backroom deal between National and the Maori Party. It will only benefit a few Treaty travellers and corporate Maori who stand to make a killing off a resource that rightfully belongs to everyone,” Mr Peters said today.

Because of concerns that some of the more stupid muslims might mistakenly think it was a religious symbol, even though it isnt, and alienate people. Neither name is about promoting religion.

I am suggesting that in CHCH we have a Hamilton too many , a Min of Civil Defense whose name noone in CHCH knows , a Gerry Brownlee who spouts platitudes , an Athfield who trots out the same tired old mantra we have heard from that most serial of borrowers Dave Henderson , that people want to live in the inner city……Really , truly , people in CHCH want to live in the inner city..Anyone who could say this at such a time should not have any input into designing a toilet in CHCH…and a new govt dept , business coordinaters , another Tsar…Just how many Tsars do we need??
We still want answers about the demo companies and their auctions. How much money did they make? Why is their looting legal?
Why is John Hamilton still employed?

So back to Gingrich’s joke: For it to have potency requires a nutty view of the presidency. First you must think the president’s most important job is to be like a castle guard—always in a specific place and constantly on watch. This may seem absurd, but this is the way we think about presidents.

Meanwhile, START 4 will result in the transfer of highly sensitive missile defence information. This was in exchange for what? An abstention over interventing in Libya while Putin cries about it in public? Hey, remember when the very intelligent diplomatic and journalist set told me to relax, this very important and very meaningful treaty will result in a new era of cosiness between the West and Russia, the most crucial international issue facing us today? And remember how I said they were wrong and stupid?

Russia’s government plans to exploit the Obama administration’s eagerness to conclude a missile defense deal as a way to obtain valuable technology from advanced U.S. missile defenses, according to U.S. national security officials.

The Russians specifically are seeking a defense technology cooperation deal with the Pentagon that will permit them to gain access to U.S. hit-to-kill missile defense know-how, the key technology for the most current strategic long-range and tactical short-range defenses that were developed at a cost of billions of taxpayer dollars over the past two decades.

The reason, the officials said, is that Moscow knows it can offer very little in the way of cooperative missile defense with the U.S. The current strategic anti-missile interceptors around Moscow are armed with nuclear warheads — tactical weapons that Moscow is not expected to use against an Iranian missile attack.

Additionally, the nuclear-tipped interceptors are supposed to be the subject of follow-on U.S.-Russian tactical nuclear arms reduction talks based on the recently ratified New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.

Amazing gritty fightback by the Black Caps after posting what seemed like a barely adequate total. South Africa disintegrate like Labour. I still doubt they can lift themselves for three in a row, probably not even two, but they’ve already exceeded my expectations.
