Just been to a do for Citylink where Maurice Williamson did a speech. He initially said he better not tell any jokes, but then decided on one he thought would be ok. “What do politicians have in common with nappies? You change them often, and for the same reason”.
Safest to make fun of your own I guess.
Celia Wade-Brown was also there and gave her first official speech as mayor. 30 seconds long. She’s got that going for her.

Actually, I’ve looked at the link now. I see its just as I expected a litany of false allegations that have as their origin the leftists in the mainstream media. There’s not an event there that doesn’t have a logical and reasonable explanation and there’s not any event occurring there that in anyway demonstrates Palin is radically different in intellectual resources and knowledge than any other politician.

That is why I asked wat and you to come forth with one issue, so that it could be dissected and discussed reasonably and with full information rather than just information and partisan analysis from one side.

YOU COULDN’T DO IT.

He can sometimes express himself well (but rarely on Kiwiblog) and most people seem to think he comes across as a pillock. I guess if you are friends with him (there aren’t many he doesn’t abuse in the end) you may not see the many contradictions in what he says. He’s either very clever at self parody or an obsessed misguided prat.

OK, first point is the word “obvious”- this is a pejorative adjective that I am in complete disagreement with and because of its subjective nature should not form part of any objective initial proposal.

Let’s see if we can reword it more intelligently so that it becomes a debatable proposition.

Here is the proposition-

“that Sarah Palin does not know enough about world affairs (or geopolitics if you like) compared to other Presidential candidates and this lack of knowledge will prevent her from performing effectively as US President if she wins the election.”

I am happy to debate the issue I placed before you. If you feel you must remove the reference to “obvious” as you noted above then by all means do so.

Do not, however, try to change the issue for debate by bringing into it any comparative assessment against other potential presidential candidates. The issue is about Palin’s capability, not about the capability of others, nor comparisons between them.

If you feel you are capable are responding, then do so. If it is beyond you the just scurry off back up your little hole.

Put up or shut up Red. You have been proscrastinating on this long enough tonight – firstly ignoring the issue when first posted, then denyinh you saw it, then claiming it was a late edit and trying to change the issue to something else you want to introduce.

I’m not going to squirm out of anything. I ‘m trying to remove the opportunity for you to squirm out of it. I’ve had these debates before and I know from experience that you do not have a clue what you are talking about. I’ll be clear. My objective is to trap you into a situation that you cannot escape without a clear illustration to everyone reading that you’re an uninformed fool.

Tell you what, if you’re to yellow to go firt I will, but that of course means you have to back away from your claim and we then debate a claim that is rooted in my position. I’m only talking correct debating procedure here. You should know in a proper debate you can’t just come in and make some cowardly weakly based assertion and then run off . We need to do this properly.

OK, seeing its your wish and that you cannot substantiate your proposal, I’ll modify the proposoal and I will go first.

The proposal now is-

Thanks very much Angus, I’ll track them down. Read a review of Michael Savage’s latest book today by Ted Nugent. Very good review and Ted says its a great book. I’m going to try and get that too if I can.

I’m not trying to change the game. I’ve done everything I can to try and accommodate you. If we are going to have a debate we need to be sure of the proposition and then debate it according to procedure. It seems you are extremely anxious to avoid that proper situation.

It seems to me your preference is to just make unsubstantiated cowardly smears and then run off when you’re asked to solidify and debate your claims.

I see nothing wrong with my proposal. If you claim Palin is a weak candidate and all the evidence supports this, how could you possibly lose either way?

OK bhudson, seeing as how you’ve run off, I’ll start without you, and make my case for the proposition that-

“Sarah Palin will make a good POTUS and if she has any weakness in her knowledge of geopolitical issues this will not preclude from performing her duties with excellence”

In the first instance I want to attack the claim that Sarah does not have enough experience. This claim was posited widely throughout the Democrat controlled media (including shows like The Daily Show and the Colbert Report) and it was a planned strategy by the Democrats who were shocked at Palin’s impact on stage during her introductory speech as John McCain’s VP candidate. This claim is not based on research. It arose because the journolisters who conspired to frame so much of the political debate for the Democrats selected it as an effective smear strategy. Here is a quote from a journolist email (Daniel Levy) that arose after the listers had finished expressing their awe at Sarah’s presence and speaking ability-

“This seems to me like an occasion when the non-official campaign has a big role to play in defining Palin, shaping the terms of the conversation and saying things that the official campaign shouldn’t say – very hard-hitting stuff, including some of the things that people have been noting here – scare people about having this woefully inexperienced, no foreign policy/national security/right-wing christia wing-nut a heartbeat away”

So this was the meme pushed by the Democrats, and to a greater extent by the Democrat controlled media, and 300-400 journolisters within that media.

It was never substantiated. Merely put out there as if it was a given. And this meme has been continued right up to this day, and those that remain uninformed considering it origins remain influenced by it.

Now we need to move on to supporting the proposition that Sarah was inexperienced as the Democrat’s propaganda forces insisted. Let’s do that by making a comparison. Say McCain had won and died and Sarah was now President. How would she compare with Obama and/or Biden? Would she have-

caused the stock market to plunge over 2,000 points in the six weeks after she assumed office?

left important posts in the Treasury unfilled for two months?

been described by insiders as ‘overwhelmed’ by the office?

gone on to diss the British Prime Minister on his first state visit, giving him, as one head of state to another, a set of DVDs plucked from the aisles of Wal Mart, a tasteful gift, even if they can’t be played on a TV in Britain?

might have told Katie Couric that when the stock market crashed in 1929, President Franklin D. Roosevelt went on TV to reassure a terrified nation?

mispronounced her EU counterparts names and claimed U.S. democracy was older than Europe’s,?

given the Russian minister a gag “reset” button, on which the word “reset” was translated incorrectly?

Bowed to a Saudi king and the Japanese PM in a complete breach of US state dept protocol?

So far there’s no evidence that the incumbent is the greatly experienced statesman far superior to Palin in terms of overseas knowledge. Now what about Palin’s “geopolitical” knowledge. Two questions here– was it lacking, and if so, would that make her a bad President?

Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units. As governor of Alaska, Palin was briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism. Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden’s.

She was also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security’s counter terrorism plans. Palin was privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country’s defense. Given Alaska’s proximity to Russia, she may have security clearances we don’t even know about. She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is.

Since retiring from the McCain campaign Palin has taken a number of overseas trips and met many different world leaders including Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. No reports of any gaffes during these meetings have been reported. Palins experience in global political matters may be light by some standards but should by no means be a deal breaker, as many a President before her has been similarly light on global experience. The state department resources cover international affairs and what is important is that the President has good decision making experience.

As Governor of Alaska, such experience was far in excess of Obama’s. He was merely a lowly member of the senate and a community advisor. He also had nowhere near the administrative and executive management experience of Palin. Yet Obama has managed adequately. Palin based on her superior level of experience would have done better, so this proves her lack of experience would not be a negative factor if she was to become a future President. She is of course too, a different woman today to what she was back then. Forbes magazine puts her at number 16 among the world’s most powerful women.

The bottom line is that Palin does not lack the required experience, and even if she did have any weakness there it would be compensated for by the state dept. That Palin did lack experience was always only an attack strategy formulated by the Democrats and the Democrat controlled media. Sarah Palin will be an excellent President.

I now await your opening statement and your rebuttal of my opening statement.

Eight billion euros ($14.75 billion) worth of tax breaks pocketed by the Catholic Church in Italy could be in breach of European law and may have to be repaid, it has emerged.

The development is the latest blow to an institution that has been rocked by a global clerical paedophilia scandal that broke earlier this year and investigations into money laundering.

Good post RedBaiter. I am amazed at people like RRM who thinks that Palin is thick, but we don’t know if he/she is thicker than Palin or not. It is more like the movie dumb and dumber. Those who are themselves thick try to label others as thick.

If I hear Prof. Steve Chu (current US Secretary of Energy) labeling Palin thick, then I can understand of where he is coming from (even if I think it is a deliberate attack or put down) WHY? Because the man is a Physics Nobel Laureate, and that’s definitely not someone who’s thick.

The doubters of Palin? Are they Physics Nobel Laureate? Nope? They themselves may be as thick as their attack target. In other words, it is dumb & dumber.

PS : I haven’t met Prof. Chu, but I have met with his co-Nobel Prize winner, Prof. William Daniel Phillips at his public lectures during his scholarly visit to University of Auckland about 7 years ago, so a few attendees had a chat with him afterwards (back @ the Physics Department) and some even asked about Steve Chu’s work and Prof. Phillips delved into Chu’s work in detail. He also touched on Chu’s personalities as well.

But I always knew I would for right from the start it was obvious you have nothing but the imprint made on your mind by the Democrat attack machine. You’re just a brain damaged robot who can only make utterances in line with the information you are fed by your controllers. A total dead end in terms of information.

Never mind. Not a complete waste of time, for once again objective readers at least have been shown the mental emptiness of the standard and garden type Progressive.
