Look with phil gone there’s a chance I’ll no longer be slimed as a Christo-facist/christian-fascist/whatever. I’m gonna miss that ‘abuse’ really. Perhaps American Gardener will pick up the standard and fight on.

On a slightly serious note, phil has been is a bit unstable recently. I’d expect his banishment is the source of huge amount of anger and bitterness for him right now. I hope his son is ok. Does anyone have the CYFS helpline number?

I doubt it’s enough of a basis to contact CYFS. Is it a full moon? RB has been tetchier than usual over the last two or three days too.

Does raise a point I have thought about, RB seems to get so wound up sometimes, it’s impossible to know if it’s an act or for real. I’ll keep standing up to him and admit it’s sometimes hard to resist pushing his buttons but I wouldn’t want to help push him over the edge. That’s one major drawback with online contact, you can never be sure what the real reaction and is at the other end.

Excellent essay here: Climate Change and the Death of Science. Worth a read as it unpacks the idea of post-normal science in some detail.

An extract:

Mike Hulme, founding director of the Tyndall Centre, and Professor of Climate Change at the University of East Anglia (UEA), prepared climate scenarios and reports for the UK Government (including the UKCIP98 and UKCIP02 scenarios, and reviewer for UKCP09), the European Commission, UNEP, UNDP, WWF-International and the IPCC, and was co-ordinating Lead Author for the chapter on ‘Climate scenario development’ for the Third Assessment Report of the IPCC, as well as a contributing author for several other chapters. Hulme has been a champion and exponent of post-normal science for some years to serve his own socialist agenda, and this is what he has to say about post-normal science:

“The idea of climate change should be seen as an intellectual resource around which our collective and personal identifies and projects can form and take shape. A late comment after catching up on the fate of Phil U.

I understand his suspension because his personal attack on DPF was unwarranted and was particularly nasty, but Phil’s main point about the contradictory nature of the right wing in bemoaning abortion but also bemoaning benefits to support babies is a legitimate line of enquiry.

Of course, many of us here come under personal attack, and posters like Redbaiter (you fucking coward) and Johnboy (Fuk off you piece of shit) and Hurf Durf (think of an insult: he’s delivered it) seem to get very wide latitude to abuse other posters.

I do my best not to get sucked into responding in kind, but I’m only human, sadly, and sometimes get carried away.

Personally, I would like to see DPF take a hard line on all personal attacks – so pointless because few of us have met in person, and probably never will – rather than just the ones on himself. His current approach is arbitrary at best, selective at worst (in my humble opinion).

Then we could all just concentrate on debating issues, rather than the amount of imaginary faeces supposedly wrapping our words.

I thought the gross exaggerations were part of an attention seeking act. If you truly believe that what you write is straight you are more nuts than I thought. From my experience you are often so wide of the mark it’s as if you’re trying to shoot arrows at a target on your backside. Blinded by ideology.

You are most accurate when you inadvertently describe yourself, which is often.

It’s a shame, the basics of some of your ideas make sense, but you destroy any semblance of credibility by going over the top more often than the troops in WWI.

I don’t get Luc why lefties seem so concerned about this issue – it’s very common on left blogs to have policies against personal attacks but I’ve personally never understood the issue. As you say, blogging is anonymous and it’s therefore not personal. It’s not as if we’re all sitting in the pub and risk a biffo breaking out. So why is it any big deal at all?

I seriously don’t get it.

Well Reid its long past time you bloody well did get it. The fact that it is mainly the left who seem so preoccupied with this issue is the first clue.

First you need to understand that everything the left does is planned to have gradual and increasing effect. They don’t think in months or years, they think in decades.

Secondly you need to know that the left generally anticipate every action and reaction. Everything is planned.

They know that there will eventually be a section of the population that will rebel against their collectivist political ambitions. This rebellion will in the first instance manifest itself by means of a general contempt towards those who advocate left wing policies.

They must suppress this contempt or risk their long term plans stalling. Therefore they introduce into society a mood whereby any such expressions of contempt are considered unhealthy. Like drink driving, speeding, religious activities, drinking, smoking, racism, sexism, and other such unhelpful behaviourial factors that they seek to control.

Therefore the person who challenges leftist doctrine becomes persona non grata. Kind of like being sent to a gulag in the old soviet days.

As you’ve already noticed, you only have to see the codes of conduct on left wing blog sites, universities, schools, government services, anywhere there is a central control point issuing instructions to a wider group of people.

Look at the socialist conditioning and indoctrination I highlighted in my post to the ‘Computers in schools’ thread for a very good example.

Its all part of the plan and its focused on paving the way for universal socialisation of everybody’s attitudes and behaviour. Make you into a compliant brainwashed easily manipulated little collectivist lemming.

You should know this Reid. You should have known it a decade or two ago.
