LRO – I’ve played tetris, and written a 3D version of this game in C#. I’ve also watched the Simpsons occasionally in the past. If you’re keen to expose me as dump you’ll need to have another crack.

@krazykiwi, the humour is derived from the idea of hell being a manifestation of unimaginable frustration. The author is suggesting that in such a hell, even a simple pleasure such as a basic video game (enjoyed by many) would be rendered impossible to play.

It is a fairly common joke form with many variations. Sometimes implied, but not always stated, is the idea that this single frustration might even last forever with no chance of reprieve. In this particular scenario the condemned sinner would be spending eternity playing an impossible game of Tetris, watching the screen fill over and over again, with no hope of ever winning a game or even scoring a point.

It is awhile, several years, since I played this game but surely Hell isn’t all that bad because depending on the colours coming down it could be possible to build winning lines. Who is controlling the drop? God or the Devil?

This would be the first of seven levels of hell, obviously. Space Invaders with a gun with a .25cm range is level two.

Jcuknz, with a curved baseline, it might be hard to get the upper lines ever level. Not impossible, but a hell of a job.

LRO, you will surely burn on level three in the asteroid belt for that ill-considered comment.

Black Paul, atheists don’t need to wait to get to hell for that. I’ve seen a few of them eternally flipping through solitaire at work, whilst they wait to be fired. (Incidentally, Solitaire is level 5 of hell, with one ace missing and two queen of spades)

?? I was playing Tetris long before I was on the net, long before I was using Windows. Tetris dates to 1984. I haven’t seen it since I have been on the net.

First glance this looked a bit like the debating chamber, especially with a large L to the side (this happens to be a politically orientated blog), but it took about a second to cotton on to the Tetris link.
