Introducing Jadis…

First of all, it is David’s amusing sense of humour that has me stuck with this name.  Those who know me would hardly describe me as an Ice Queen – except in the odd political debate.

Having read Tara te Heke’s introduction post I feel compelled to introduce myself.

I’m the other end of the parenting spectrum from Tara.  I’m in a long-term loving relationship, my children have a Dad that cares and spends a lot of quality time with them, and we have enough income to ensure I don’t have to work (for money at least).  I choose to be a (mostly) Stay-At-Home-Mum because I want my children to have the best start on life, and my partner and I have created circumstances that mean we can do that.  We  made a choice that we’d give up the finer things in life, location and status so that we could make a better life for our family.

We also own our own business.  As many of you know, business ownership brings new challenges and rewards to life.  Despite the challenges, it has been worthwhile giving up the comfortable corporate life knowing that every minute of our own hard work contributes directly to our future.

Politically, I’m a liberal.  That word has been bastardised by the Left.  A liberal to me means economically liberal as well as socially liberal.  You can call me a classical liberal… but then again I am also someone who lives in the real world and purist measures don’t always fit.

I think I’ve said enough about me.  I don’t think you need to know my whakapapa or personal principles to get where I am coming from.  I am sure you’ll work it out from my posts.

So, I intend to give my views on events of the day.  I’ve promised David I won’t be too controversial (ok, so it is my nature to push the boundaries).  I was about to say I’ll channel David as I type but that sounds positively scary.
