Does anyone else think there is something wrong with the media in this country when it devotes massive time and space to reporting a brawl that occurred between school children playing a game of rugby?

More than half of the front page of today’s NZ Herald is devoted to the Kelston/Grammar fight and the TV media have replayed scenes of the on-field fight over and over in its news bulletins during the last few days.

Why is this sort of nonsense reported at all – reported even ahead of the elections in Afghanistan?

I despair for this country when the juvenile antics of children playing a sport that should be incidental to their being at school to learn and get an education, is given any sort of media coverage at all.

The comments are full of the usual low IQ morons and they’re venomously attacking “crazed right wingers”.

Turns out the woman in the video is a far left Democrat.

My take on the Rodney Hide “stand” is that it is just political posturing. It seems unlikely separate Maori seats will happen so Hide thinks he can appear to be acting on strong principal, it’s quite safe bet. I’m sure he doesn’t expect to give up any of the power or portfolios.

The world was told the US was divided, the election stolen, that there were “two Americas” and a drunk frat boy barely able to speak had been selected by the US Supreme Court…yet on August 22 of 2001, President Bush’s approval ratings were at 57% according to Gallup.

Today the gutless corrupt media claim the US is in a new era, the election a mandate for change, that there is one America full of hope and a brilliant orator has been elected by a huge turnout…yet by mid August 20 2009, President Obama’s approval ratings are at only 51% according to Gallup.

How many seats is Peter Sharples prepared to guarantee and put aside for “pakeha” representation in the leadership of his Maori Party?

We have the laughable situation of the co-leader of NZ’s race-based political party demanding rights and concessions for Maori-only seats on the AK city council, when the Maori Party themselves are not prepared to meet the same standards of race-based representation within their own organisation.

Why does Sharples expect us all to tolerate his brown hypocrisy, while he bleats about how unfair Rodney Hide’s non-race-based proposal is? More “do as I say, not as I do” from the masters of demanding special treatment.

Whereas leftists love to accuse the left wing FOX news of being right wing, they remain silent on the gross distortions, lies and outright extreme left propaganda pushed by MSNBC, who today have been discovered to have edited a video to show something entirely opposite to the truth.

On Tuesday, MSNBCs Contessa Brewer fretted over health care reform protesters legally carrying guns: “A man at a pro-health care reform rally…wore a semiautomatic assault rifle on his shoulder and a pistol on his hip….there are questions about whether this has racial overtones….white people showing up with guns.” Brewer failed to mention the man she described was black, and the clip was carefully edited to conceal this fact.

The mainstream media are corrupt liars. Journalists are fakes and propagandists.

Both were at liberal Columbia University professors in the ’60’s. (I know, “liberal Columbia University Professor” is redundant). These two professors put forth their Cloward-Piven strategy in an article in The Nation magazine. The issue date was May 2, 1966. David Horowitz summarizes the strategy thusly:

The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The “Cloward-Piven Strategy” seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.

Hmmmmm. Does that sound at all like our current “crisis” in health care? I mean, how many people do you personally know who are in the throes of despair right now because of some needed health care service that is beyond their reach? Oh sure, I know that there are lifeboat cases; there always are, in any society. But do the relatively small percentage of people out there who are facing some sort of unmet medical disaster constitute an entire system in “crisis?” Certainly not. So why the huge push? Why the asinine idea that our economic recovery is dependent on developing some form of national healthcare? Why is this all being painted as a crisis that to be solved right-by-God-now or our entire society is endangered? Well … Obama and the Democrats, of course, are anxious to get this segment of the economy under their absolute control before next year’s mid-term elections. Time is really of the essence for them. Consider also that if you’re going to use the Cloward-Piven Strategy of manufactured crisis, you have to treat it like an actual crisis, and that means dealing with it NOW!

Here’s a bit from The Nation article: The essential features of a campaign using the Cloward-Piven Strategy.

1. The offensive organizes previously unorganized groups eligible for government benefits but not currently receiving all they can.
2. The offensive seeks to identify new beneficiaries and/or create new benefits.
3. The overarching aim is always to impose new stresses on target systems, with the ultimate goal of forcing their collapse.

Needless to say we’re going to be discussing my “find” here (thanks to a listener email) in coming days and weeks. But first, perhaps you would like to learn more on your own. Go ahead .. use Google. But here’s two links to get you started:

mickysavage at 8.03 called on Key to accept Hide’s offer to resign over Maori seats for Auckland, and mickysavage cited Sue Bradford as an argument in support, as if Kiwiblog readers care a fig for that far-leftist’s views.

mickysavage seems as rational as his namesake, Prime Minister Savage, was in his final time in office. Read John A. Lee’s memoirs to see how rational PM Savage was.

Pakeha like poster “mickysavage” and Bradford reject the concept of equal voting rights for all colours and support brown apartheid, which is what reserved, non-proportional seats for Auckland Maori would be. In the fight against South African apartheid such racial quislings often ended up with a tyre full of petrol round their necks. I certainly don’t advocate that for Bradford and mad micky, but they need to reflect on their hypocrisy.

Borrowing from the term slaves used for more privileged blacks in American slave days we might describe as “house whities” those pakeha who support the brown-apartheid position on Auckland regional voting seats.

Hide has the moral high ground here.

I can see some justification for us trying to help in Afghanistan, but it will be very difficult to force a lasting solution and will possibly a futile exercise.

Iraq was unjustified illegal madness. Sure, Saddam was a bastard, but so was the US. We will see the results play out over the years to come, and it probably won’t be pretty.

inventory, I don’t expect you to keep score as I doubt you are capable of counting beyond your left hand, but I have been consistent in my opposition to NZ’s presence in foreign wars. I don’t care who the government of the day is, NZ troops in Afghanistan is wrong and not in the nation’s interests.

You also forget a country which defeated the Soviet Union, however just because a country has had a successful military past doesn’t mean that you stand aside when they attack you.

I understand that you may not agree with the War in Afghanistan however let us stop and remember that:
1) Prior to 9/11 nobody wanted to invade Afghanistan
2) The Afghan Leadership chose to allow their country to be used as the launch pad for an act of mass murder against a civilian target.
3) The Afghan Leadership were given the opportunity to protect the lives of their people (and their own control on power) by handing over those responsible for the 9/11 attacks.
4) The NATO invasion of Afghanistan was sanctioned by the United Nations.

To date the NATO mission in Afghanistan has been largely successful, they’ve dismantled the primary threats and I personally believe if they wanted to act for the best of THEIR people they would withdraw right now. Unfortunately I suspect that in less than 72 hours Afghanistan however once again be in a state of civil war and in the fighting that would follow hundreds if not thousands of civilians would die eg the Soviet retreat all over again. In addition NATO would need to ensure that Afghanistan could never present a threat again they and would need to continue to use airstrikes and raids to hit any sign of enemy forces regrouping. Unfortunately this could never really stop and the only way they could guarantee their own security would be to keep Afghanistan in a state of low technology and instability indefinitely.

The alternative course of action is to make Afghanistan a functioning nation. This much more difficult process as it takes long amount of time (I believe a British Commander suggested they would need troops on the ground until 2050), a large amount of resources and ultimate sacrifice of human lives, however if you truly want long term peace this is the only option available to you. Units such as our engineer team are a critical part of this mission (and I think it is foolish that we’re going to withdraw them) however while there are large numbers of insurgents who are prepared to murder innocent men, women and children this is not a peace keeping mission or a rebuilding mission it is a combat mission and I believe our SAS should be there.

A lot of people have been very vocal about what shouldn’t be done in Afghanistan, However I would be very keen to hear your opinion on what should be done? How do you think the operations there be brought to the best conclusion for the Afghan people?

Let’s get the facts right.

I understand that you may not agree with the War in Afghanistan however let us stop and remember that:

That leadership is no longer leadership, or didn’t you notice the “regime change” and the “election” of the Pashtun thug, Hamid Karzai?

3) The Afghan Leadership were given the opportunity to protect the lives of their people (and their own control on power) by handing over those responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

As I said, they are no longer leaders, and besides, the attacks on New York were not acts of war perpetrated by a government, they were crimes carried out by a few idiots. War was not the answer, police work was, and is.

Name the 9/11 terrorists and the country of origin and see if you still thing it was all done from, and by, Afghanistan.

4) The NATO invasion of Afghanistan was sanctioned by the United Nations.

That does not make it right, or necessary.

Not at all. Yes the Soviet union did invade Afghanistan in 1979 and then withdrew ten years later in 1989. Yes there has been a change of leadership unfortunately Afgahnistan is still a country at war or do you think that Nato should have simply conducted its operations and left the mess for the local population to deal with?

While the act was not carried out by direct representatives of the then Afghan government it was carried out was members of an organisation that they had welcomed and supported. Following the strikes the Afghan government made no attempt to either bring the group or indivduals to justice themselves or allow the international community to do so. In fact the opposite occured and instead of making any attempts to seperate themselves from the actions the Afghan government protected those responsible.

Actually I’ve made an error here. The UNSC DIDN’T authorise the invasion as it it seems NATO invoked Article 51 of the UN Charter and argued Operation Enduring Freedom was an act of collective self defence, though this is clearly a debatble point (as illustrated by our own two opposing opinions on this).

Regardless of this these events have happened. The real question is how would you plot the best course forward for the Afghan people?

Hahaha! Nah, not really. Even the British only went as far as Basra. The paltry few hundred soldiers NZ would have provided would have been a drop in the ocean, though I imagine Hulun would been throwing them there if Al Bore was in charge. It’s nice to see you exercise the logic of our “independent” (see: anti-Western) foreign policy.

If I were an optimist, here’s what I’d like to see happen over the next few weeks:

1) No vote wins by a substantial margin in the referendum. Key tells the Gweens to fuck off and enacts legislation to repeal Bwadford’s little law and replace it with something sensible.

2) Maori seats are not recommended by the Supercity Committee, Hide reigns with his reforms continuing and the race-baiting left soothes its throbbing arsehole.

3) Russel Norman gets hit by a train.

But I’m not, so they won’t.
