I got 9/12. I didn’t know where the Dow was, who hadn’t received a bailout, or who the chairman of the Federal Reserve Board is.

Classic that knowing about Afghanistan and Pakistan is US general knowledge, though.

Hehe 12/12…. or the 94% percentile 😉 Not to brag or anything, but I guess its not too bad considering the average percentile score for my age group is 28% 😉

10/12 – also got the Iraq deathcount question wrong and the Dow Jones. Most interesting statistic for me was the average man scored better than 52% of the public, while the average woman did better than 35%.

read: politics nerds. And the fact that NZers are doing the poll probably indicates that not all respondents are American! I hope they aren’t going to report the results as such…

11/12. Not bad. Mad at myself for giving Giethner the wrong job!

So 82nd percentile, compared to 53rd percentile for my age group. I also noticed a strong association with age – better informed.

11/12 got Giethner wrong too.

Given my age and “formal education” I’m guessing this means you pick up more general knowledge as you get older, as long as you walk around with your ears and mind open.

As my old granny would say as she tugged my ears: you’ve got two of those and only one of those (points to mouth) so use them proportionally.

And here “we” are comparing ourselves to US citizens in regards to what they know about their country………

11/12… who knew Ford hadn’t bummed a bailout?! Well if I’m ever inclined to buy a mass-market car, I know which one to choose.

Well, the Dow is now at 9600, which is closer to 11,000 than 8,000. So everyone who guessed 8,000 is actually wrong. The survey was completed at an earlier time, when 8,000 was indeed the correct answer. 11,000 has only been the right answer for a few days (and for all I know, could again be the correct answer tomorrow).
