MPs told ACC is insolvent

The new chairman of ACC says the corporation is insolvent.

John Judge has fronted up to MPs at Parliament’s Transport and Industrial Relations Select Committee this morning. He says as an insurer, one is insolvent if liabilities exceed assets and this has been the situation for ACC since it was established.

Mr Judge disagrees with arguments from Labour MPs that insolvency only applies in cases where debts cannot be paid. He says in June, ACC’s liabilities will exceed the $21.9 billion figure they have been recently estimated at.

But he says privatisation of parts of the business is not on the cards in the immediate future. He says ACC is an excellent scheme and removing claims from the courts provides better results and more certainty.

He says the workers’ account is in good shape and sees privatising it as a second order issue that will only get priority if the Government makes a policy change.

Mr Judge says ACC Minister Nick Smith has told him it will not be an issue in this three-year term of Government.

Same as always: ‘It’s not our fault – when WE left government ACC was in much better health than it is now – look at what National (and all their filthy capatilist lackeys – and the Round Table, of course) – have done to our precious fund that we were so careful to look after and maintain’.

They will of course have the usual ‘Greek Chorus’ to accompany them.

Nothing new, no admission of responsibility.

In other words, same old, same old.

Bloody oath Inventory2, with all the crap going down in the world this socialist PC freak show went to kick arse at some poor shop in Wellington?, making it’s staff speak English. For fucks sake are these pinkos now taking mind altering drugs. What the shop does is it’s business and if those working there are not happy perhaps they should seek new employment. What this has to do with TV1 is beyond me let alone it being the lead story. I note they interviewed some customers who were also aghast with the shops policy, I also note there were no dissenting views. If they had asked me I would have told them to go and fuck themselves and to get a life.

And speaking of media, what sickly treacle the fucking media is trying to serve up with the story about Obama putting his arm on the queen. Boy talk about dribble for the masses, you would have thought Obama had tried to mount her.

I was listening to the ZB this morning, they have Jeremy Wells and that dunce on. They mentioned that Helen was asked on TV1 how much she would be earning and her reply was “I don’t have time to look at such things”.

What the hell??

As if she wouldn’t know. Wouldn’t she have signed a contract?? Surely Helen believes in employment contracts. I suspect there may have been a figure on that.

When it comes ot your income, you only have to see the number once and you pretty much remember it.

Just another dishonest answer from a horrible woman.

Now I come to think of it, they’re from the same mold as the Union tramps who sugggested bus drivers should take money from their cash boxes, and that it wasn’t stealing as, theoretically, it would be repaid later. Why average people do not hound these frauds and criminals on sight I have no idea.

There would seem to be grounds for a complaint re TV One and the Foodstuffs beat up.

I did not see all of it but my wife insists that the camera flicked rapidly over the sign which readm, in full, “there are only three official languages in NZ – English Maori and Sign Language.

And yet the story said that the staff could not great you with Kia Ora.

What is going on?

Is anybody else outraged that Keith Locke has come out in support of child rapists?

It seems that Locke thinks monitoring kiddie fuckers after they have come out of prison is an infringement of their human rights.

There are some MP’s that I dislike, there are some that I do not trust, there are even some who are clearly mad (Delahunty) however Locke is in a class of his own when it comes to being evil, he is more concerned about the rights of child sex offenders than he is about our kids.

Watching the defence of the banks by the bank economist from westpac and to a lesser extent Gareth Morgan on close up last night prompted me to a little research.The reason for the increase is being attributed to an increase in the international cost of borrowing between banks due to the perceived risk factor and in NZ the “alleged” stampede of borrowers looking to re fix loans at low rates which NZ banks are not able to accomodate due to their “inability” to match with their boroowings. The National Australia Bank which owns BNZ and Westpac australia currently offer Floating rates 1.6 to 1.04% less than do in NZ and 3 & 5 year terms over 1% less with Westpac being the more expensive by a significant margin – the real difference however in the case of say the NAB 5 year term 6.29% – BNZ 7.5% is actually 19.23% greater margin – I ignore whatever effect currency difference is. The Abbet National in the UK offers 3.75 floating and 4.99% 5 year fixed and both the Australian and UK operations offer 10 year fixed terms at less than the NZ 5 year term. Dr Bollard was also cited as being injudicious in his language.Now some may feel the Aussie Banks are gouging the NZ market but I have alternative explanations – that NZ is in a parrellel international financial universe with different conditions than the rest of the world or that the international lenders insist that their money should bear a higher cost when lent to NZers or even that the Aussie mortgage holder takes no interest in the cost of his mortgage so does not look at re fixing when rates are low and those like myself who still believe in the tooth fairy and father christmas will accept this.

It’s a hover-fly- and yes, a bee-mimic. The European Eristalis tenax. They’re a lot more common in parts of NZ, as Varroa has reduced the competition with honey-bees. Fortunately it’s still a pollinator.

New topic for a minute if I may…

You have to wonder about the future of Fairfax newspapers in New Zealand if its biggest southern paper is a guide.

FairlyFucked’s Christchurch paper, the Press, today runs an article that adds to its twice or thrice weekly insult to its readers with people of the ilk of Marxist Minto.

One Lynn Williams, who describes herself a a freelancer writer, today attacks non-indigenous plants and gardens, and especially roses in a markedly racist way. (Try the test: what if this were an attack on indigenous plants and their indigeneous planters).

Williams’ real target of course is the people who nurture them. Williams wants Canterbury-ites, who are renown for being proud of their gardens, to tear out lawns and roses and replace them with flax. She attacks people who struggle with Maori place names and declares “most of the chemicals that are put into the ecosystem in New Zealand are to keep valued exotic plants.” Like the grass and fodder that provides the export income that keeps Williams in clothes, computer and car or bike, of course.

Williams’ criticism echoes a move by PC lefties within the Christchurch reserves department to replace magnificent weeping willows along the Avon, said to stem from slips taken from trees on Napoleon’s grave at St Helena by Akaroa-bound French migrants. The lefties are replacing these with appalling clumps of flax.

Williams is welcome to have her say in a democracy. However, the Press doesn’t so much tolerate such minority reviews. It rams people like Williams and mad Minto and others down its conservative readers’ throats. If Fairlyfucked NZ were to take over the newspapers of Saudi Arabia, it would not only appoint a Jewish editor to the Mecca Times, but insist on running a column about pig farming.

As for Williams, to prove she’s no hypocrite she should from now on write all her articles in Te Reo. Hopefully she can find a keyboard with a macron.

She makes these mouthings while drapped on the luxurious soft furnishings of her euor-style home rather than the grass hut her desired namesake would have lived in. What a fraud.

Surely John Judge is saying that the very structure of ACC is that it will always require a top-up, thus it is technically what we be called insolvent if it was required to stand on its own. But that has never been required of it, nor has that been required of other crown entities. That doesn’t neccessarily mean it doesn’t WORK. That’s what should be argued: it’s efficiency in providing the purpose it purports to.

The whole John Barlow charade is absurd. Why does his wife think he should be released when she is saying things like this:

Barlow says she is “absolutely shocked and devastated” by the decision.

“I know him better than anyone. He wouldn’t do anything wrong. He hasn’t done anything wrong in his life,” she told The Dominion Post.

I think if you are convicted of a crime and deny it then you should be kept in for the full stipulation of your sentence automatically!
