I noticed with interes that a certain Joris de Vreese, who is apparently an ‘economic refugee’ from South Africa (aka he did a runner when the natives took over), and just happens to be the (Labour-appointed) Race Relations Conciliator for this country, has attended the anti-Israeli, anti-semetic and anti-zionist Durban II confernce in Switzerland.

He evidently went there as an ‘independent observer’, presumably having paid his own way, (and evidently being given ‘leave of absence’ by the NZ Government to attend), although for whom he was ‘observing wasn’t made clear.

Having duly arrrived, and presumably observed the mad Iranian’s diatribe, Mr de Vrees than evidently suddenly put on his NZ Race Relations Concilator’s hat and proceeded to attack John Key (who just happens to be his boss – and paymaster), for not attending the ‘conference’ and for not sending a formal NZ-government representative along.

It seems to me that Mr De Vrees needs to remember that he is a Civil Servant and that ‘She who appointed him’ (guess who?) is no longer around to protect him – facts that he seems to have forgotten (or overlooked in his arrogance).

It would also seem that an appointment with John Key may be necessary to establish that de Vrees is the servant, NOT the master, and to perhaps point out to de Vrees that contracts do have a way of not being renewed if the hand that feeds gets bitten.

As the gentleman must inevitably return home, and account for his actions and statements to his boss, I wait developments with interest. . .

The meeting was already boycotted by the United States and Israel, as well as Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy, New Zealand and Poland. U.S. officials chose to pull out due to language in the human rights commission’s prepared document, which still singles out Israel in its text.

In the eight years since Durban, Arab countries have not renounced anti-Israel policies. And the United Nations has frequently served as a conduit for condemnations of both America and Israel. Last April, Professor Richard Falk, used by the UN to “investigate” Israel’s relations with Palestine, once compared Israel to Nazis. Simply put, Israel’s enemies have used the international forum that is the United Stations to criticize Tel Aviv for its alleged “human rights abuses” while ignoring their own abuses back at home.

It’s not as if Ahmadinejad’s remarks were surprising. Delegates knew well in advance that he was going to speak at the meeting. Ahmadinjad uses every opportunity to promote hatred of Israel. To attend this event, knowing that Ahmadinijad was even invited to speak, despite the momentary walk-out, only gave the Iranian president a bigger stage……”

Phil – I won’t link-whore again, as to do so twice on the same thread would be impolite, but your comments would be welcome on either of the Joris de Bres threads running at Keeping Stock.

His behaviour is deplorable, as is that of his boss, Rosslyn Noonan. Then again, both are Labour party stooges, so why would one expect anything else?

Adolf Hitler didn’t get to step up at multinational forums in the 1930’s and say the sort of stuff that Ahmadinejad is being given scope to say today courtesy of the West’s P.C. appeasement/cultural self-loathing/anti-Israel brigade.

Interesting events in the Bain trial today.

“Sanderson said he had initially concluded the glasses were David’s but when he was shown a photograph, a week before the 1995 trial, showing Margaret Bain wearing the glasses, “the penny had dropped”. He assumed the information would be conveyed to the 1995 jury but when the jury asked a question about to whom the glasses belonged, he had been shocked to realise his new view had not been provided to the court.

He had also been concerned to hear Detective Sergeant Milton Weir tell him the fact the lens found in Stephen’s room was covered in dust would be ignored.”

If true (we only have one side of the story), isn’t this a case of police manipulation of the evidence to produce a more favourable view that Bain did the crime? The cop in question should be facing criminal charges of evidence manipulation.
