Mallard’s prosecutor

I suspect Trevor Mallard enjoyed this weekend story:

An accountant who brought a private prosecution against former Cabinet minister Trevor Mallard has been ordered to serve six months’ home detention for tax fraud involving almost $50,000. …

McCready pleaded guilty to 12 charges of filing false income and GST returns and filing a false income tax return to evade payment. He had originally pleaded “absolutely, positively not guilty” to a larger number of charges, changing his plea on the first day of trial last month. …

Lawyer Noel Sainsbury said that, though it might be true McCready did not leave his home much, detention still was a barrier to his liberty.

Home detention as a punishment for someone who doesn’t leave their home much. Hmmmn.
