The House today
Lots of good speeches on the tragedy in Australia. The House unanimously passed without debate the motion from Jeanette Fitzsimons asking the Remuneration Commission not to give MPs a pay rise next year.
I’ll cover any questions if they are especially interesting. So far they don’t look promising!
UPDATE1: Hmmn John Key seemed to hint that Dr Cullen may have breached the Public Finance Act. This suggests the inquiry into the non reporting of the ACC blowout could be completed or in draft form.
Had to laugh when Goff kept going on about the Government concealing advice before bills are voted on (the hypocrisy here is massive, as Labour would sometimes refuse OIAs for months on end on bills they put forward), and Key hits back with how ironic it is that Goff is concerned about concealing things, as just late last year his staff were concealing the alcohol they were stealing from the Xmas Party. Key also said they are not concealing any advice.
UPDATE2: Every question Darren Hughes asked of Steven Joyce referred to him being “hollow”. This must be their new master strategy. It will work just as well as their attempt to label John Key as slippery.
