I never cease to be amazed by the sheer number of blogs i’ve never heard of that DPF monitors – he’s a robot sent from the future to monitor our blogs, etc…

Well he got that right, and not just about Hitler. Hindsight gives many people a new clarity on historical events. Whether or not they’re automatically truer remains to be seen.

A lot of these “non-fiction” writers who redefine history in their own likeness end up talking the strange code of the subconscious that Irving uses.

The rest of the blog entry is as crazy as he accuses Irving of being. He sneers his contempt for an academic’s sneer in a sneery leftwing academic way. All the while he knows it’s happening too. I swear, it’s like watching a cat fight a reflection of itself in a mirror. 😆

I felt a strong sense of deja vu as read the following extract from the article:

“Irving is someone I’ve loathed for years (See my previous comments here (2)). It isn’t so much that he’s a Holocaust denier – they are mostly beneath contempt – but because of the attitude he brings to the business, the supercilious, sneering tone he adopts. Maybe they are all like that, and it is just familiarity that has bred this contempt. But he’s always stuck in my craw. Also, there is the intellectual fraudulance, the blatant, obvious manipulation and disingenuousness that taints almost everything he says. Add onto that the shrill ad hominen attacks he launches on anyone who disagrees with him.”

Thank goodness no-one here would ever adopt a supercilious, sneering tone, or launch into shrill ad hominem attacks on anyone who disagrees with him 😀

Noah was the finest skipper a man could ask for. Or an infatry platoon sergent if you prefer.

And the phrase “as dead as Star Trek” was somewhat lost on me last night since the film was playing after the trailer for the next Star Trek movie and I don’t see the Spirit II being in anyones future.

I think he should be allowed to come here and have his say. i would like to listen and debate him, or laugh at him, or abuse him. I hate other people deciding who I can hear speak. Fuck, I have to put up with people like Minto, whose revisionism is no worse than Irvings.

I do have to say though that I thought Irvings biography of Rommel was quite good in parts.

Patrick – that video was typical of ones I have seen of peaceful Hamas murdering their fellow citizens. I am sure that their internecine warfare has killed more palestinians than the current war and we heard nary a word of condemnation from the Hamas huggers. Except to say that Palis killing Palis is still Israels fault. THose guys really do, just like they say they do, embrace death.

Bruv,

I think this recent interview has established for once and for all that the guy is actually mentally ill. I doubt you’d get a reasoned debate, though I’m certainly in favour of open debate over locking people up or refusing them entry to a country because of what they believe or say.

Clearly Irving is mad but isn’t it one of the nice things about our society that they don’t necessarily put you away when you reach that state witness Minto, Locke, Bradford (Sue but open to persuasion on Max), Peters, Brown and at least one ex Governor General.

My ideal way of dealing with these nutbars would be through consumer protection legislation. If this guy is advertising himself as a historian but is, in fact, talking a load of steaming old poo-poo totally contrary to the facts, then he is fraudulently misrepresenting his product and should be liable for whatever civil or criminal penalties are available.
Ditto for creationists attempting to pass their nonsense off as science.

Its a classic catch 22, a sane man would want to leave but if your sane you have to stay, if you want to stay your insane but if you want to stay theres no problem.

Either way Yossarian doesn’t get to go home and Irving remains convicted. BTW I think the law they used was dodgey as hell and is not consistant with free speech.

Having said that its Irving so who cares.
