Is anyone else shocked at the OTT level of political correctness that has erupted over Lockwood Smith’s statements of fact?

I’ve blogged on this today (second half of the page) and decided that it’s time our MPs were re-introduced to the concept of “truth” — even if it’s not what they want to hear.

I’ve invited readers to make a few politically incorrect statements of fact about our pollies and started the ball rolling with some of my own. For example: Tariana Turia is fat and should lose weight so as to set a better role-model for her people who are increasingly becoming victims of diseases caused by overeating. Sorry — that’s the cold hard truth – but it is “politically incorrect” to state it.

Don’t worry.. there’s more. If you’ve got any, feel free to contribute.

Oh how clever to be Politically Incorrect. That of course is the easy path, to have some level of intelligence and make PC statements actually requires thought and empathy, but that would be too hard wouldn’t it.

Lockwood Smith reports what growers have been telling him, TV3 goes and checks and the growers say yes thats right thats what we said and Lockwood Smith is branded a racist and all kinds of an idiot by the same media who are now cherry picked selected quotes ignoring either the context or the validity.

We can’t vote in the “Watermelon Party” (aka the Greens) and any form of potential co-alition partner that they would work with.

I came across the beautifully left wing “Craccum Magazine” that mentions the “blue corner” of National, Act, Family Party & “some fringe Neo-Nazi groups”…

Even they have discounted the kiwi party (5% threshold – yeah, right!).

I’d give all my support to that Jerry Filipaina out in Mangere who’s doing the best he can to get Labour out of their stronghold. Evebn DPF has mentioned on Breakfast this week that doorknocking is the best way to get to the voters. I read that Jerry has been door knocking for at least 11 months out there!

Talk about a David and Goliath battle!! We should do everything that we can to help promote his profile so that we can help him to opust Aunty H. Trust me, looking at their website http://www.familyparty.org.nz there ain’t no way they are going to support her!

JK has at least one more seat that he can have supporting him in an overhanging parliament.

His argument that the media only repeat what they are told or hear is weak. News media do an enormous amount of selection, and views and prejudices necessarily colour writing. Even photographers’ predilections show in their photographs. You must have noticed this in the prevalence of low-angle netball pictures.

And how does gd explain the cartoonist Moreau, whose drawings appear in many Fairfax papers. Over all they reflect a strong left-liberal world view and a very weak sense of humour. Compare him with the shrewd and sophisticated grasp of politics that underlay David Low’s cartoons of a half a century or more ago. Moreau is more than just a messenger.

Our news media is left and moving further left.

If reporters had bothered to dig a little after Lockwood Smith’s statement they would have seen what a worsening mess the migrant labour schemes are. No! They go for the quick bite when it is in line with their bias. We get an outpouring about the sideshow and don’t see the main show.

I believe the MMP system doesn’t work as the personalities (parties) don’t operate in that concensus way but as FPP.

My understanding of all the people I talked to is that the public wanted them to work constructively together but they haven’t.

For many of them they really they think they are the premier citizens in this country (as they were here first).
As a result to many Maori, non-Maori are 2nd class citizens in their mindset.
Just look at the Flag of the Maori party on telly last night.
This is referenced in a self referencing symbiotic relationships with NGO’s at the UN, other “people of the land or Indigenous peoples and socialist types the world over.

This means that the culture of outrage, entitlement and UTU they keep fanning in every generation keeps them in shackles to the oppressor.

That said there are many Kiwis who are Maori or part who don’t believe this and many of them are the successes that put the stick to the lie that the past has hindered us.
Give me some more money.

If any race-based comments and generalisations are now considered “racist” (by the racism experts the Maori Party, and all the others squealing re: Lockwood’s comments) will that spell the end of the so-called “positive” racial generalisations too?

When Tariana “Taleban” Turia construes the Asians-have-small-hands message to mean Polynesians hands are too big to be able to do the work, she betrays her own thin-skinned racist tendencies – going well out of her way to take offense.

She could equally well spend her racist drive attacking such “racist” phrases as: Polynesian rugby players playing with “Polynesian flair”. What does that mean? Is it just coded racist opinion that the said Polynesian rugby players can’t perform well because of any intellectual ability to read the game etc etc but only because of their native (non-intellectual) intuitive cunning? Or does it mean that white players are dull and formulaic – with no flair (tell that to Dan Carter)?

The little racist Tariana displays how keen she is to take offense and cry racism. It’s a shame she doesn’t demand the same standards and apply the same level of questioning to her her own divisive racist utterings, and her own race-based political party.

I do think it is quaint the way he mentions his drug use. I don’t find it particularly shocking, as I’m fairly sure I’ve sampled more drugs, largely as a function of being in conservation regions of the Developing World. Sharing the local narcotic is a basic hospitality requirement. (And everything has been legal where I’ve been.)

Personally I much prefer beer. Drugs are largely a solitary trip. Drinking beer is an incomparably more sociable activity.

These last few days have been so damned funny! Guys & gals, the biggest RACIST are amongst us…they’re called MAORI!!!

One could compare their believe system to that of radical Muslims…to them most of us whities are just INFIDELS whom are obstacles to their goals, which are total Maori sovereignity and ownership of New Zealand.

BTW, just pay a visit to a North Island pub that’s frequented by Maori, and you’ll get a good taste of racism, and no doubt some JAKE THE MUSS!

I vote to send Paul & Philu on a Maori racism fact finding mission, and report back to us at this blog…of course there’s a good chance that we may never hear back from them again…so sad, not.

objected strongly to the ousting of Nandor (a genuine green) and his replacement by a red..After the election Jeanette goes and Red Sue Bradford becomes co-leader scary stuff.

They look like something from the 70s. Hardly inspirational at all. I’ve had brochures in the mail from the Greens and Labour so far but I haven’t seen a bloody thing from the Nationals.

Instead of bitching and whinging on kiwiblog all day perhaps you should be out volunteering to help in the campagn?

Quite frankly, National deserve to lose the election. They have campaigned on exactly the same ideas as labour while saying we need change (what change?!) – they have had constant blunders from the members of the party, and they have simply sat back and watched labour stampeded all over them. I am just stunned. How the hell can they lose the unloseable election?! Clearly John Key can’t cut it. The worst thing is that when Labour gets back in in November, Key will eventually be dumped – and they will lose the NEXT election as well because of the mess surrounding a new leader and members. Maybe it is time to try to brainwash ourselves in to believing the left wing lies and propaganda – at least we can sit in numb peace instead of anger for the next 3 years – just like the rest of New Zealand.

Had a look a the Stuff poll on the Lockwood Smith comments earlier in the day, then it had about 600 votes saying they were racist, 600 saying it was fair enough and around 1100 saying undiplomatic but no big deal. A few hours later and it’s over 10,000 saying its racist. Surely no one is trying to rig an unscientific poll? Again I mean.

I still think the Nats should go after the watermelons big time. They are easy targets on their record, what with the smacking business and big scope in the environmental area. Portray them as the reds they are instead of the nice greenies they pretend to be.

Cut them back by a couple of % and they are toast – and their just under 5% of the vote on the left gets to be wasted, as well as the 2-3% for Winston.

Then where does the 7 headed hydra stand?

If JK doesn’t want to be nasty to Helen, why not torpedo the easier target instead?

Concerned? No more so than last week. Remember the Colemar Brunton poll had the nats at 51% at the same time the 3 news poll had the Nats at 45%

It will be close and a late swing could go either way.

The editor of a small weekly newspaper, annoyed at legislation that had recently been passed, ran a scathing editorial under the headline: HALF OF OUR POLITICIANS ARE CROOKS. Many prominent local politicians were outraged, and tremendous pressure was exerted on him to retract the statement. He finally succumbed to the pressure and ran an apology with the headline: HALF OF OUR POLITICIANS ARE NOT CROOKS.

The employee stormed angrily into the cashiers office. Whats the meaning of this? I just counted my pay and its a dollar short!

The cashier examined the envelope, then checked his records. Last week we paid you a dollar more. You didnt complain then, did you?

Look said the employee. An occasional mistake I can overlook – but two in a row is too much!

Interesting comment from Guyon Espiner on tonight’s TV One News. he was talking about the coalition options for either side, and for the first time noted the significnace of the largest party’s ‘moral right to govern’. He suggested that if National finished well ahead of Labour, but a few percentage points short of an absolute majority, there would be ‘real pressure’ on one or more of the minor parties to let them govern. presmaubly this would involve an agreement on confidence and supply, and perhaps a few policy concessions. In that regard, The Maori Party would be the obvious pick. NZ First could be another.

I saw something on this matter the other day, though there are a lot of newspapers still to give endorsements.

NEW YORK (Updated Thursday) The Obama-Biden ticket maintains its strong lead in the race for daily newspaper endorsements, by 127 to 49, an almost 3-1 margin and an even wider spread in the circulation of those papers (see full tally below).

John McCain did pick up the biggest catch of the week so far, getting the nod from the Detroit News. However, Obama last week earned support from the Detroit Free Press.

Obama’s lopsided margin, including most of the major papers that have decided so far, is in stark contrast to John Kerry barely edging George W. Bush in endorsements in 2004 by 213 to 205.

Note: We are updating this story and list often so return for additions.

At least 27 papers have now switched to Obama from Bush in 2004, with just four flipping to McCain (see separate story on this site).
