$39 million on comms staff

The HoS reports on how the Government’s total bill for communications staff has risen by 29% in the last year to $39.2 million. This is an average $77,000 per staff member.

The actual numbers may be even higher than this. You see birdies tell me that some government agencies are only counting staff in their central comms team, and do not count comms staff in the indvidual branches and units.
