A new level of disclosure

Disclosure of possible conflicts of interest is highly commendable, and one should tend towards more rather than less disclosure.

However ODT Political Editor Dene Mackenzie may be taking it a step too far in this story about ACT and Rodney Hide:

Dene Mackenzie is political editor of the Otago Daily Times.

He attended Rangiora Primary School at the same time as Mr Hide but they were three years apart.

I would like to disclose that a NZ Herald journalist was a teacher at Island Bay Primary School, where I attended from ages 5 to 10.
