The blogger who bit Obama

Most people will have seen the furore in the US about Barack Obama comments on bitter small town Americans. We will find out later today if it has hurt him much in the Pennsylvania primary.

Pundits seem to say if Clinton wins by more than 10% she gets a significant boost. If she wins by less than 10% the stalemate continues (which would almost inevitably result in Obama eventually winning) and if by some chance Obama wins, then it is all over for Clinton.

The Herald has an interesting story from The Observer about how Obama’s comments were made to a private meeting in San Francisco. One of the invitees was a 61 year old housewive who also blogged. She was invited as she was a supporter and donor. But she put her role as a “reporter” first and blogged his comments, and the rest is history.

This neatly illustrates the power of the blog – politicians are less able to say one thing to a group of supporters and another thing publicly. As Mike Williams has also discovered!
