Lok Ulhas
At the official dinner on Tuesday evening, the hosts put on for us a wonderful Lok Ulhas cultural display celebrating the diversity of India. Like many countries, it is very flawed to think of them as one culture or even one people. The different regions are extremely diverse.
As we get off the bus we had to walk between this elephant and his sister on the other side.
The dining area. It’s lovely to be able to dine in the outdoors – something all too rare in NZ. Mind you it wasn’t hugely warm that particular night.
They had 18 different acts in total – each a few minutes so lasted around an hour.
In the penultimate display, the dancers with the flax skirts and painted faces all threw coconuts up in the air and smashed them open on their heads. You could hear the loud thud as they collided and smashed open.
