UN and suicide bombings
Following the suicide bombing which killed Benazir Bhutto (or at least her supporters), the Simon Wiesenthal Center has taken out a full page ad in the NY Times calling for the UN to address suicide bombings which have now killed people in 30 different countries. They warn one day a suicide bomber with access to biological weapons will create a headline of 100,000 killed.
The UN may not have time to do this though. They have been busy voting to condemn “defamation of religions”. Are they concerned about people rubbishing scientology?
No they express “deep concern that Islam is frequently and wrongly associated with human rights violations and terrorism”.
So instead of condemning suicide bombings, they condemn those who point out the common factor in almost all suicide bombings.
