The comic genius of Robin Williams
The first David Letterman show of 2008 screened in NZ last night. For those not following, a writers’ guild strike has grounded many shows. Letterman owns his own show so was able to do a deal with the union. Jay Leno is in trouble with the union because he dared to write his own jokes, which makes him a strike breaker!
Anyway I enjoy Letterman, especially the regular segments such as the Top Ten and Famous Presidential Speeches. Letterman is a good comedian.
But his guest last night was Robin Williams, and Williams is just non stop hilarious. It was quite a contrast as Williams came on and just took over the show for a few minutes.
The You Tube above shows the first eight minutes And Williams comes on at 4.45 minutes. The top ten is on before that so worth seeing it all. He just takes the piss out of Letterman’s beard calling him General Lee, Rabbi, Grandpa, etc. It’s take a full two minutes for Letterman to get a question in.
