Jim Anderton is 70 today, so happy birthday.

Winston still has a fair way to go – he is only 62.

Dave, he is drawing an enormous amount of money to be what he is through parliament. Personally I think it is as obscene as the ambassador for Hampstead heath trying it on when Helen sent him to London

Well I bet the prick will retire at the next election rather than face 9-12 years on the opposition benches. He has acheivd bugger all in his time and will be no loss to Parliament.

Winston on the other hand will also retire – but his will be a forced retirement.

Good riddence to both Pricks come the 2008 election (which is now less than 10 months away.)

On another matter slightly unrelated – a friend who works in parliament tels me that he has never seen such a grumpy bunch of losers – such as the Labour MPs and their staff are right now – they are certainly not looking forward to trying to find new work come the 2008 election where upon they will be all unemployed as their contracts expire at the election – and as lepers they realise that their chances of work post election are nearly zero.

I like Jim, he’s one of the old school sensible lefties, he’s centre left without any dogma. He’s done a lot to promote NZ industry. I disagree with him on drug regulation but other than that he’s a credit to the centre-left.

Yeah, Jim gets a hard time for his stance on drugs, and deservedly so (the nos stuff was particularly silly). But when you look at the big picture he’s a man who was willing to risk his own political career for what he thought was best for the country, and in doing so he’s delivered a lot to ordinary New Zealanders. Whether you agree with his politics or not that’s certainly something to admire.

There’s nothing to admire about Jim Anderton. He’s a smug smirking socialist arsehole who has had his hand in my pocket too long, and has used the money he stole from that pocket to buy the votes of the parasites, cronyists and welfare addicts who vote for him.

Anderton and his contemptible ilk have perverted democracy for the sake of political power and with their clapped out Marxist ideas have been a brake on the prosperity of this country for far too long. .. and its not the end of it. NZers will pay dearly over the next few decades for the bad judgment of Anderton and his power driven parasitical acolytes.

Well there’s Kiwibank, four weeks annual leave, paid parental leave… things that Labour probably wouldn’t have done by itself (or at least would have needed a lot more pressure to do) were it not for the Alliance.

I wouldn’t bank on him retiring, he could I suspect be an overhang MP on election night and potentially crucial in cobbling together a government.

This election won’t be decided by the big numbers in the polls, it will be decided by vagaries of MMP that are within the margin of error of any poll:

do the Greens/NZ First get 4.99- or 5.00+, either is potentially a huge impact
also the overhang seats, Maori/United Future/Progressive could easily combine to 4 or 5 overhang seats
