I enjoyed the article in todays NZ Herald about Dr Cullen telling an emailer to go to Australia.
He then blamed it on the time of year.
So come November next year, (when he is tired again) and it’s election time, will he go around abusing everyone or will he try deep throat kissing everyone?

That’s about the first sensible piece of advice Cullen has issued in the last eight years. It’s obvioulsy already Labour policy. Perhaps a one-way ticket to OZ will be his next election sweetener. Shit, he’d get my vote!

Have you posted any items regarding “tanking economies” on your site? If not, you should – and get this matter off your chest, and stop hassling DPF to do your work by proxy. Then all the readers will be able to visit your site and see what you are banging on about.

PS – last time I visited your site, each and every item had “no comment” at the bottom of it. Does this mean you allow no comments to be made, or that nobody has visited or bothered to comment?

3-coil, philu actually has a number of pieces on it. But as his site is preciously little more than just a link farm with no real analysis or debate of the points one can understand why he is out looking for somebody to help him form an opinion other than “whoar!”

houses prices go up – punters told off and interests rates go up because theyu are so naughty.

Petrol prices go up and take more money out of peoples back pockets – reserve bank puts interests rates up to take EVEN MORE money out peoples pockets (like somehow that will stop petrol prices going up, yeah right).

There is something seriously flawed in our system. Do you imagine Cullen would have any idea how to help out? Ha

Shame I didn’t get to post on the organ donor thread, I was on holiday when the issue came up and then spent the entire holiday fielding calls and doing interviews on the topic.

I thought it interesting though that the organ donor service in their interviews are very against presumed consent as it means taking organs without your consent and then in the very same same interviews when asked why the promise of an organ donor register has now been abandoned they said it is because “we” are not capable of giving consent to be a donor… Having your cake and eating it comes to mind….

Maybe the UK system is too radical for NZ at present? Going from being the worst in the world for the number of donors to presumed consent in one leap maybe too fast.

It is an issue that needs to be publicly debated, there is a lot of misinformed comment going on around the issue. I note that those opposed to it in the media describe it as having your organs “ripped from your body” What makes people think the organs are “ripped from the body” rather than surgically removed just because we have changed the consent system? Melodramatic, emotive statements like these do not advance sensible debate on the issue.

The UK has 15 donors per million of population (PMP) and they see this as a need to stop people dying on the waiting list. NZ has 7 donors PMP. Maybe we need it more than them?

The main reason the MOH are against it here is because ‘some’ people may not understand how to ‘opt out’ of being a donor and therefore become a donor even though they didn’t want to be. A couple of points here, many people don’t understand how gst works so maybe we should abandon that? There are many parallels…. The people they refer to as not being able to understand how to sign a piece of paper to opt off don’t seem to have any problem understanding and signing for multiple benefits…

If the people they refer to really don’t have the mental capacity to understand it then the chances are they are in a secure unit at the twilight home for the bewildered or are in the Green Party….

Next month I will be announcing a radical new proposal to increase the organ donor rate, something I’ve been working on for 2 years now, not quite as controversial as the presumed consent system, but certainly more palatable to NZ’s. Watch This Space!

Anyone know anything about GE finance. Ive had an interesting social intercourse with them regarding a finance arrangement. It was a loan that was paid off some time ago (paid early).
They are now saying that there was a problem with the way the payment was handled and that I still owe them 3 grand !! (this was for a $8 grand loan that was paid of 2 years ago). The 3grand is for penalty interest costs.!!

It seems that they are manufacturing false debts so that THEY HAVE MORE ASSETS ON THEIR BOOKS THAN is true. The only reason a finance company would do this is to mislead someone that they are better off than they actually are.

Are they the next to go under ??

His poetry is outstanding and (IMHO) his short stories even better.

I wish his poetry was mandatory at high school level. Would be nice to see someone other than James K, carrying the torch for NZ poetry and literature.

I am a director of a company that borrowed from GE Finance.
The company refinanced with B.N.Z., after about two years.
I was appalled at the way GE Finance extorted our company with their exceedingly strict enforcement of their early repayment policy. Those fellows make Shylock of Venice look very kind.
They were legally entitled to do what they did.
Just as I am legally entitled to mention on here what they did.

GE Finance tried to hammer us with interest 2 monthes before our interest free term ended.SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED, rang them up and had a heavy conversation with them and it was set right. I think they target the weak and try to rip them of, by charging interest, but hell they are sending us crap offers all the time now

Tauhei, supp with the devil and you expect to get warts.

A common mistake is to assume consumer finance contracts are the same as housing lending contracts .
They are not.
One has variable interest rates, variable loan periods, plus dont forget the bank can demand payment in full anytime and so can you pay it back in full.
The GE money ones are for a fixed time with fixed repayments. ie you are legally obliged to pay the sum borrowed AND the total interest amount for the contract period. No ifs and buts.
So if you repay the principal early, you are still obliged to pay the total interest amount you agreed to

Hi Tauhei Notts – re GE finance.
They were asked in writting for the “amount owing to fully clear this loan” and they advised the amount and it was paid. I since had a conversation to find the date of the final payment ( the accountant wanted to know for his records) and I got the date and was told that the loan “has been repaid”. There was a penalty in the total amount for early repayment.

They havent got a leg to stand on I dont think. And anyway they wont be getting anything – but considering they made no contact for over 2 years and then out of the blue they say theres a debt sounds a bit funny to me.

Andy Tookey – congrats on your work and I look forward to seeing what your new proposal entails. I was one of the few (or so it seemed to me) on the original thread who was in favour of assumed consent. If we’re that concerned about not doing the worms out of a meal of our liquified internal organs we can sign a form demanding to be buried (or cremated) intact. Seems simple enough to me.

As long as they make damned sure I’m dead first… read me NZF’s Fundamental Principles and if I don’t sit bolt upright and yell “Lying hypocritical bastards!” you’re free to take what you need 🙂
