A great summer weekend

Not only is Wellington beautifully hot and sunny at the moment, the wind has gone away.  This means one can party outside until midnight and stay warm.

On Friday night had a party at the ginga’s place in Newtown.

The scary thing about this photo is it was taken before they started drinking!

Some girls from Fielding.  Despite that they are good sorts.

And the dancing inside.

So was a good Friday night.  Then on Saturday had a pig-a-thon party.  What is a pig-a-thon?

Well this is it – two little pigs cooked in a home made spit roast for six hours.  Someone suggested the pigs be called Trevor and Mohammed, but it was agreed the name Trevor was offensive to many Wellingtonians. This led me to recount the story, seeing it was linked to religious insensitivity, of the time I told a group of reasonably devout church goers that I had nicknamed a database I used as “Jesus” because everytime one tried to delete someone from it, it would ressurect them the next time you used it.

Also on the religious side, I had a client call me during the pig-a-thon and his first statement was “Are you sure you’re half Jewish”. I thought he had learnt I was devouring some lovely pork and responded that I was only half Jewish in a bloodline sense, not in a religious sense and besides I like pork.  But he said that wasn’t what he was calling about – he was concerned I hadn’t cashed his cheque to me yet  🙂

Anyway back to the food, and this is the inside of one of the pigs – nicely stuffed with carrots and potatoes.

The food processing line.  It got carved, then sliced, then served. There were 6o or so people there and to be honest just the one pig was almost enough for them.  We did make it onto the second pig and also managed to turn the neigbour’s cat into a pig loving carnivore.

Alas, poor Yorick I knew him well.

So that was a good afternoon and evening on Saturday.

Then on Sunday went along to a yum char at Regal in Courtenay Place, hosted by Keith Ng.  A superb feed, and a good way to use up a couple of hours on a lazy Sunday. The photo is of the left overs. We ate a huge amount and it was only $17 a person.
Now just waiting for my new bed to be delivered, and then out again tonight.  Oh I do enjoy summer.
