Reaction to Tax Cuts pledge

For those of us who believe in letting people keep more of their own earnings, Labour’s pledge to cut taxes is welcome.  National will feel obligated to come up with a bolder tax relief plan than Labour, so we end up getting more of our own money back than would otherwise have been the case.  If Labour win, we get something back, rather than nothing.  If National wins, we get a bigger tax cut than would probably have been the case otherwise.

The HoS has reactions from a few people:

Tax expert Craig Elliffe said tax cuts were long overdue. “Everyone, except Dr Cullen, has recognised we have been overtaxed for a long time. And I guess the logic is the tax cuts should be given to the people who have overpaid that tax.”

Indeed Dr Cullen has been the sole holdout for many years.
