Xtra and Spam
Jenny Keown in The Independent covers another issue relating to Xtra’s new e-mail system. Their spam filters have become far more unreliable.
I’ve been helping several people who have Xtra accounts and in every case, two things have happened. The first is that far more spam is getting through the filter. But the second is worse – a lot of legitimate e-mail is being blocked as spam.
One MP who uses Xtra not only had all the e-mails from the Leader’s Office never turn up, as they were caught as spam, but even e-mails from the MP’s parliamentary address to their Xtra address had been tagged as spam.
Now to be fair to Xtra, their package of new features is damn good. Being able to set up sub-accounts is great, and backing up files online also good. But the transition issues means many users may not hang around to discover the good stuff.
