Victims of Crime

My first reaction upon reading the call for compensation from the Government to victims of crime, is that surely the criminals should be the ones who pay compensation, not the taxpayer.

But reading further down the story, I see the proposal is not to hit the taxpayer up, but to fund it with a 10% levy on existing fines.  That’s a proposal worth considering.
