Satire ban looks set to stay
The parliamentary ban on use of parliamentary footage for satirical purposes looks set to stay, with most MPs very unsympathetic to a media proposal to merely ban misrepresentation.
MPs it seemed aired decades of pent up grievances such as how Bill Rowling in 1982 was misrepresented as laughing at a speech in TV footage. They also objected to a soundtrack of “We’re in the money” being played in relation to an item on MP’s pay rises.
Why not just have a committee of MPs approve the news every day then. Then I am sure we will have no complaints!
