Back in Wellington
Well I did just over 1,100 kms in the rental car and flew out from Timaru yesterday afternoon. Timaru must have the smallest airport in NZ. Ran into a Nat MP there so we chatted away waiting for the flight. Only problem was when the boarding call was made, he had forgotten to check in as he had been busy chatting to me. I won’t name Bill though as being forgetful is so unlike him 🙂
Have a huge amount of work waiting for me back in Wgtn so blogging will be light. I don’t think I have ever been busier with the polling company, and have just had to schedule on several extra shifts next week to match demand. Problem is the poor staff are streteched so I’ve had to resort to an outraegous level of bribery (known as bonuses) so people will work every shift. It’s one of the more interesting challenges of running a polling company – getting exactly the right number of staff on for every poll. Luckily Anna does most of it for me.
Just heading into a workshop today with Federated Farmers, Local Government NZ and various telcos and ISPs on rural broadband. Basically trying to identify potential solutions, and associated costs, and also related issues like the TSO.
