On ZB tonight

I’m on NewstalkZB tonight at 5.20ish to discuss the mud slinging in Parliament. Peter Dunne is talking about it also.

Seems no matter how weird NZ’s leadership becomes (and they’re getting weirder by the minute as desperation takes hold), over here in Australia the country is led by even weirder folk – or at least those that lead it are advised by weirder folk.

Amongst the predicatable “Shock, horror, probe!” headlines revealing that people from the PM’s department have been editing his Wikipedia entry is the news that computers using the same IP range have added the statements “Freemasonry is the work of Satan”, “Mormonism is the work of Satan” and “Jesus is god” to various non-political Wiki entries.

Coming on the back of revelations (no pun intended) that Howard’s been chummily chatting to the Exclusive Bretheren it’s all a bit of a worry.

Almost makes me wish I was back home under the yoke of Labour. At least their lunacy is predictable. I said almost.

DPF: I hope it includes the Electoral Finance Bill. It’s the biggest, ballsed up lump of slimy, vile smelling muddy legislation, that has been slung around Parliament since the Validating Act.

Shame that no-one has picked up health though, it could do with a little attention.

I think it’s unusual that Trevor Mallard hasn’t jumped into the debate. He’s normally the first one to engage in this kind of muck-raking. Perhaps he learned from last year, in which case I commend him.

You have to give it to Trevor. He could be criticising which bed John Key has been sleeping in, but hasn’t.

I apologise if, given the kind of sleaze surrounding this Labour Government, you’ve interpreted what I said as some kind of innuendo about Trevor Mallard’s private life. It wasn’t intended as innuendo.

I’m just noting that Trevor does appear to be very silent recently, and appears to be acting much more honourably than his colleagues. I commend him for his improved behaviour.

My reference to netball was simply an observation that netball is a sport, and Mallard is the Minister for sport and recreation. I think it’s excellent that he’s taking a particular interest in a sport that is primarily played by women.

Mallard also took time out during his recent trip to Valencia to personally acknowledge his support of the Silver Ferns.

Irrefutable proof that a willingness to kiss anybody’s ass if it’s in your own best interests does not entitle you to occupy the supposed moral high ground in criticising everyone else’s behaviour?

I hope someone – DPF, I’m looking at you here – makes the point that there’s more to morality than name calling. There’s also adherence to principle. And in that respect, even the the most snakelike socialist or expedient Tory is well above of Mr Dunne on the moral ladder.
