More mobile phones than people

Peter Griffin blogs the Telecom profit announcement.

I found it interesting that NZ now has more mobile phones than people.  This it seems is because of people like me who have a work and a private phone – one with Telecom and one with Vodafone.

It would be interesting to see any stats, if they exist, on mobile penetration by age range.  Most kids seem to get a phone once they are ten or so now.  I’ve also noticed more and more retired people  taking up a phone.
