Mitt Romney blog
The best blog (in my view) of the US Presidential is the Five Brothers blog run by Mitt Romney’s five sons.
Generally blogs of prominent candidates are not great, as they go in one of two directions:
1) They’re run by low level campaign staffers, and you get little connection with the actual candidate
2) The posts are done by the candidate, but they are so sanitised for fear of saying something off message, that they make press release reading sound fun.
The Romneys have managed to avoid this. Yes Mitt Romney himself doesn’t post much, but his five sons are posting every day with photos and news of the campaign, and amusing inside antecdotes. They respond to comments and even ask for feedback such as how the five of them can appear less “square”. Suggestions included you tubing their brotherly farting contest!
The blog comes across as very real and genuine. Because they are the sons, not the candidate, they can get away with saying stuff a candidate couldn’t, but give an insight into their family and father. Dad and Mom make occassional guess posts.
My preferences are Rudy and then McCain, but Romney also makes a very favourable impression. To be a Republican Governor of arguably the US’s most liberal state is not something which happens by chance. However most polls show that he would lose the overall election of he did win the primary. And again polls show voters are far less likely to vote for a Mormon than they are a Catholic, a woman, an African-American or a Hispanic.
Anyway for those who like to follow the US politics, I recommend the Five Brothers blog.
